UEFA could be forced to follow through on their threat of boycotting FIFA tournaments within a month, after Gianni Infantino refused to bow to mounting pressure to resign as FIFA president.

Rather than fall on his sword, Infantino has instead moved to solidify his position, with FIFA declaring after seven hours of crisis talks in Morocco that he retains their “full support” following his botched attempt to introduce private investment into the World Cup and other tournaments.

FIFA have insisted that they will “no longer tolerate any attacks on its integrity, good governance and due process” and will take all necessary measures to protect their name. UEFA, however, have refused to back down.

UEFA Doubles Down On FIFA Boycott Threat

Per The Sun, UEFA have said FIFA’s show of support for Infantino “changes nothing” and confirmed their boycott threat still stands. It leaves FIFA on notice ahead of their next international tournament, the Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, which begins on the 5th of September.

“UEFA’s associations were very clear about the conditions attached to the non-participation in FIFA competitions,” the statement read.

The global players’ union FIFPRO also condemned what it called “a profound abuse of presidential power,” while usual Infantino ally CONMEBOL criticised “repeated unilateral actions taken without resorting to dialogue.” England defender Lucy Bronze has already made clear she is willing to sacrifice tournament involvement, saying: “If that means boycotting competitions, then that has to happen.”

With Infantino refusing to resign, UEFA may now have to back a rival candidate ahead of FIFA’s presidential election in March, a vote he had been expected to win unopposed for a fourth term. A host of tournaments now hang in the balance between now and then if no agreement is reached, starting with September’s Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.

UEFA remain hopeful they can exploit divisions within FIFA’s leadership despite the show of unity following this week’s meeting in Rabat. According to The Guardian, several notable figures were absent, including Arsene Wenger, FIFA’s chief of global development. The former Arsenal manager declined to travel in an attempt to distance himself from Infantino after previously branding the World Cup sell-off plans “absolutely necessary and beyond question” to do away with.

It was also reported that a handful of UEFA federations have also withdrawn their letters of support for Infantino’s re-election bid, with the Football Association among those to formally retract their backing. Jordan’s FA president, Prince Ali bin al-Hussein, meanwhile confirmed his opposition remains firm despite FIFA finally paying bonuses owed to his national team from last December’s Arab Cup, a payment he suggested was symptomatic of pressure tactics tied to the upcoming election.

Not every confederation is against Infantino, though. Africa’s governing body, CAF, confirmed their unanimous support on Thursday, insisting they will continue focusing on “adhering to governance and transparency global best practices.”

PGA Tour star Sam Burns has revealed that he played golf with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and he chose two words to describe him on the course.

Trump is roughly one-and-a-half years into his second presidential term in the White House, and is known for being a huge golfing fan and an enthusiastic player.

The president is such a well-known golfing fan that he often gets accused of spending more time and effort on the golf course than on his duty of being the leader of the United States.

Trump also owns numerous golf courses across the globe, including 11 in America, three in Scotland, one in Ireland, one in the UAE, and three across Asia and the Middle East.

It was, in fact, at one of his own courses that he most recently won a competition as he was crowned the winner of the Bedminster Club Championship at the Trump National course in New Jersey.

Following his triumph in New Jersey, Trump took to social media and wrote: “I won with a score of 70, and am so honoured in that, unlike the rest of the field, I’m given very little time to practice, because I’m focused on many other things. It’s called TALENT, and I have it, and they don’t!”

Despite his claimed victory with a score of 70, Trump has been the subject of cheating allegations from golfing fans worldwide. One fan wrote: “Watched him live for years, listened to his caddies stories. Everyone around him allows him to cheat out of fear. Nothing he does is genuine. All his ‘feats’ are fake, and he actually feels special.”

Some footage has been revealed of Trump during the recent competition, but it has raised further questions amongst fans, with responses to the video saying: “Lol 100% that golf ball is remote controlled! Those bounces are not normal.”

While another fan suggested: “That ball had a string 🙂 or front brakes.”

Despite the accusations of cheating on the golf course towards the president, Trump is often seen playing with other famous faces and celebrities, with none of them claiming that Trump ‘cheats’ during the rounds.

American golfer and PGA Tour star Sam Burns has had the honour of playing golf alongside the president, and he once opened up about his game with the now 81-year-old.

Burns revealed that while playing, Trump is “brutally honest”, somewhat denying all allegations that his recent victory in New Jersey was due to subtle cheating and unsportsmanlike behaviour.

“People ask, ‘What’s he like?’ He’s exactly how you’d think he would be,” Burns recalled. “He’s exactly what you see on TV: brutally honest. He’s very open; you can pretty much ask him anything.

“And he loves golf. He has some really funny stories, so it’s pretty cool to listen to. I asked him some stuff. I wasn’t sure if he would answer or not, but he did.

“On any hole, there’s close to 20 carts. If you’re paying attention and looking, you’ll see snipers, Secret Service everywhere. It’s funny, [because] I don’t know if this is the safest place or the most dangerous place in the world to be. I think it’s kind of both at the same time.”

The president of the Norwegian Football Federation has hit back at one of the sport’s most controversial former administrators after being tipped as a potential successor to FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

The suggestion came from a man who himself spent 17 years running the governing body before resigning amid scandal, and it was met with a sharp reminder of one of his own past controversies as FIFA president rather than any real engagement with the idea.

It’s an exchange that has added another layer to an already turbulent period for FIFA, with UEFA, CONCACAF and AFC all having voiced a loss of confidence in Infantino’s leadership, following a failed attempt to sell off stakes in the World Cup.

Lise Klaveness Responds to Sepp Blatter’s Presidential Suggestion

71-cap former Norwegian international footballer Lise Klaveness was asked about the speculation after fronting a press conference to explain the NFF’s vote of no confidence in Infantino.

Sepp Blatter had posted on X shortly after the 2026 World Cup final, arguing the tournament had “lost its credibility,” and in a more recent post, the Swiss stated that the time had come for a woman to lead FIFA, naming Klaveness directly with the hashtag “#lise4president.”

Klaveness’s response leaned on history rather than flattery.

Despite multiple sources linking her name to the role, Klaveness insisted a bid is not something the NFF is discussing internally.

“The media speculate about many candidates, and that’s their job, but I don’t hear any internal discussions about genuine candidates,” she explained, adding that FIFA currently has “a sitting president,” with any succession conversation only following a resignation or election.

She also declined to speculate on whether UEFA chief Aleksander Ceferin could stand, insisting the debate should centre on governance rather than personalities, before confirming Norway no longer has confidence in Infantino, and that they will be requesting his resignation.

The comeback itself has gone down well with football fans, with many praising her willingness to call out Blatter despite his show of support. One fan suggested the timing said more about Blatter than Klaveness, arguing he is “clearly desperate to redeem his public image” and that the ongoing chaos with Infantino and FIFA has given him “a perfect opportunity” to do so. Others were more direct in their praise, with one calling it “such a gangster response” and another suggesting it was “even more reason for her to be president.”
