Wrexham Now Want £6m-Valued ‘Constant Threat’ Amid Parkinson Warning

Published

on

Wrexham are now being linked with a move for a pricey striker as they look to continue their spending this summer. The Red Dragons haven’t had a particularly busy summer so far, at least not compared to recent windows, with two new signings wrapped up so far.

The Welsh club have signed Dany Imray on a deal worth more than £5million from Crystal Palace, while they also signed Preston North End captain Ben Whiteman, who arrived at the Racecourse on a £3million deal.

Phil Parkinson’s men just missed out on the playoffs last season, and he has said he doesn’t want ‘major surgery’ in his squad, but Wrexham are still expected to make more signings, and Parkinson has requested them, with their new league campaign kicking off a week today, on Monday, when they face rivals Cardiff City.

Wrexham are now being linked with Southampton forward Cameron Archer, who may find minutes harder to come by now that Southampton have signed Divin Mubama on loan from Manchester City.

Darren Witcoop has reported that Wrexham are one of the sides showing interest in Archer, who is valued at around £6million by Transfermarkt. Archer has scored 22 goals in 70 Championship appearances during his career, while he has six goals in 74 Premier League appearances.

Archer is a versatile forward who can play as a striker or a winger, and still only 24 years of age, there is likely more to come from the attacker. Former Southampton boss Russell Martin once said Archer is a “constant threat with his pace and ability to score goals.”

What Parkinson has said about Wrexham recruitment

Phil Parkinson

Speaking last week, Wrexham boss Parkinson said: “Yeah, I feel we’re not where we need to be yet, and we know that. We’re working, as ever, to make sure the squad is as strong as it needs to be for what is going to be an incredibly competitive division.

“We’re under no illusions about that. We’ve got to make this squad as strong as possible.” – Phil Parkinson

Wrexham lost their season-opener to Middlesbrough, a Carabao Cup first round clash away from home, and they will be looking to bounce back for their league opener at Cardiff on Monday night, which is a Welsh derby in front of the Sky Sports cameras. Wrexham lost to the Bluebirds in the cup last season, but the two sides haven’t crossed in the league since 1988.

Everton And Crystal Palace Agree Swap Deal

Published

Brennan Johnson and Dwight McNeil are switching clubs, with Crystal Palace and Everton agreeing a swap deal for the two players.

And GIVEMESPORT understands that no money will change hands, with the two clubs happy to exchange players without any fees being involved in the transaction. GMS understands the deal is done and will be completed in the coming hours.

Proper swap deals are rare in modern football, but this is an instance whereby it is a straight swap between the clubs for the two players.

Johnson was Palace’s record signing under Oliver Glasner in the January transfer window, but struggled to secure a regular spot in the team following his move from Tottenham Hotspur.

Glasner rated Johnson highly at Crystal Palace

oliver glasner

He had become a hero at Spurs by scoring the winning goal in the UEFA Europa League final win over Manchester United in 2025, but fell down the pecking order under new boss Thomas Frank, eventually being sold to the Eagles in a £35million deal.

The Welshman would go on to play 18 times for Palace, with 13 of those coming as starts, registering just one assist.

Glasner spoke very highly of Johnson after signing him from Spurs. He said: “He’s such a great player. He has everything you need as an attacking player. Incredible skills.

“I feel sometimes he puts himself under too much pressure so that he doesn’t play with this freedom that maybe he should have.

“He just should enjoy playing football because he’s such a great player. He has all the skills. With freedom I think then he will be the best version of himself and have his best performances.”

The two players will face off against one another in the first game of the season

Dwight McNeil

Similarly, McNeil struggled to nail down a regular starting spot in David Moyes’ Everton side, starting just 14 matches and also registering just one assist during the campaign at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Eagles did try to sign McNeil in the January transfer window, with the 26-year-old set to join the south Londoners only for it to fall through due to a problem with the paperwork.

GMS understands that both players’ respective medicals will take place on Monday, with the deal to be concluded soon after.

In a twist of fate, the two players will face up against their old teammates on the first day of the new 2026/27 Premier League season, with Palace hosting Everton at Selhurst Park on Saturday, August 22.

Man Utd Make Contact to Sign Joaquin Seys Ahead of Arsenal

Manchester United have made contact with Club Brugge over a deal to sign Joaquin Seys ahead of Arsenal, according to reports.

The Red Devils have prioritised a midfield rebuild this summer with the arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, while Karl Darlow and Tynan Thompson have also joined Michael Carrick’s squad for the new season. But with less than a month remaining before the deadline, there is still business they want to get done.

Alongside another midfielder, United are understood to be keen on a deal for another forward and a new left-back. Newcastle star Lewis Hall is the top target, but the Magpies have ruled out a sale this summer, and INEOS are now lining up a move for an alternative option.

According to The Sun, Man Utd have made a formal enquiry to Club Brugge over a deal to sign the highly-rated left-back.

Seys impressed for Club Brugge in the Champions League last season and earned himself a place in the Belgium squad at the World Cup, featuring in the quarter-final clash which saw them eliminated by eventual winners Spain.

The 21-year-old has emerged as a target at Old Trafford as a result of extensive scouting, but Brugge are not in a rush to sell and are understood to have placed a value of around €35m (£30m) on any potential deal.

Seys has also emerged as a target for Arsenal, who have also made an enquiry to the Belgian side. Man Utd are not expected to be put off by the asking price as they seek a long-term solution to their left-back position, with Luke Shaw now into the final year of his contract with the club.

But there is no confirmation on whether they will press ahead for a deal in this window, or instead prioritise their funds for other positions. Meanwhile, Arsenal scouts are understood to have provided manager Mikel Arteta with a detailed report on the defender, believing he would suit their system.

Described as a ‘top, top talent’, Seys has already made 97 appearances for Brugge, but talks surrounding his immediate future could accelerate in the coming weeks. He is currently contracted to his boyhood side until 2029.

Leko: Seys Can Reach the Top Level

Old Trafford

Seys may still be young, but he has impressed enough to catch the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

At the World Cup he had a largely backup role, but he featured for 30 minutes against Spain in the quarter-final, going directly against Lamine Yamal, and his club manager Ivan Leko insists that he is going to reach the very highest level in his career.

“He may have only played thirty minutes at that World Cup, in the quarter-final against Spain, but what a half-hour it was!” he said.

“Joa did a fantastic job against Lamine Yamal, one of the best players in the world.”

“I see Seys reaching the absolute top of the Premier League: in my opinion, he has no ceiling. He has the talent, the character, and above all: the right mentality. He is often the first to arrive here and the last to leave.”

Liverpool Hold ‘Conversations’ Over ‘Complete Player’ Endrick

Published

Liverpool are now said to have had ‘conversations’ over the possible signing of Real Madrid striker Endrick. The Reds are looking to step up their transfer window to bolster their attack over the coming weeks, and there is little doubting that a winger signing is the priority, with Mo Salah having left after last season.

But the Reds will be alert to other opportunities, and while they will not rack up the same level of spending as last year, they will back Andoni Iraola to ensure the Spaniard gets the opportunity to put his own stamp on his new squad, which is important due to a big change of style from Arne Slot, who is more defensive-minded.

Liverpool now considering Endrick deal

Real Madrid have already been busy this summer, with José Mourinho announcing his return with a number of new signings, including Carlos Espí, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella and Yan Diomande.

The arrival of Espí, in particular, is a problem for Endrick, who has already been struggling to prove himself as a starter at the Bernabeu, leading to a loan spell with Olympique Lyon last season. Endrick scored five in 16 league games for Lyon, and he is still only 20 years of age, but Mournho is of a win now mindset, and there’s every chance the Brazilian could find himself either on the bench or out on loan again.

“I usually say that Endrick is a complete player. He is strong, fast, dribbles with his right and his left, takes free-kicks and is good in the air.”

According to TeamTalk, he is not exactly excited by that prospect, and his representatives are doing the rounds, with particular interest coming from England. A number of clubs are being linked, and Liverpool are said to be one of the clubs holding ‘conversations’ over a deal. Liverpool could do with a third striker to compete with Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak, and a younger striker who has the ability to genuinely compete is the ideal mould.

Endrick has long been dubbed one of the next big players in the making, with Real Madrid having agreed to sign him around two years before he actually arrived, leading to plenty of anticipation.

Speaking this summer, Brazil legend Cafu said of the forward: “This boy is flying. I’m biased when it comes to talking about Endrick. I’ve always thought he was a sensational player, a player outside the normal standards for his age. I usually say that Endrick is a complete player. He is strong, fast, dribbles with his right and his left, takes free-kicks and is good in the air.”

“He will be a fundamental player for the Brazilian national team. He really wears the national-team shirt as if he were wearing the shirt of any club; he’s a player who doesn’t feel that pressure.”
