Every true sports fan can’t help but enjoy the occasional round of trivia where they get to flex their knowledge. Indeed, many football fans would have been screaming at the television when a Who Wants to Be a Millionaire contestant was asked a question about the Premier League.

The iconic British quiz show first started in 1998 and was rebooted in 2018 with Jeremy Clarkson taking over from original host Chris Tarrant. Every now and then, a sports question comes up and costs a player their shot at the big prize.

One man lost a whopping £108k after getting a World Cup question wrong when asked to select the most common final score in men’s FIFA World Cup finals. Another time, a lady incorrectly answered the £500,000 question, as she failed to state which of a tennis ball, an ice hockey puck, a badminton shuttlecock, or a table tennis ball has travelled over 250 miles per hour.

Another contestant has now struggled to figure out another testing bit of sports trivia.

Contestant Uses Two Lifelines on Premier League Question

In the rebooted era of the show, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire host Clarkson asked a man a question relating to the Premier League:

The options available to the player were: A – Manchester United, B – Arsenal, C – Chelsea and D – Manchester City. While many football fans would be able to identify the answer, the contestant was not entirely sure.

As such, he opted to use two lifelines. First, he asked Clarkson for his opinion on the matter. The host replied: “Okay, here is what I think. Well, we know City have won it four times, which means they must have won it in the 2010s. We (Chelsea) won it. United must have won it. Did Arsenal? I’m working it out but my dates are so muddled in my head these days.”

He then stated that “Arsenal in my final answer,” but did not appear entirely sure. With Clarkson unconvincing, the player decided to then use his second lifeline and ask the audience for their help.

The audience were helpful at this point as they also leaned toward Arsenal, with 45% picking the Gunners. A further chose Man United, while 19% went for Chelsea, and the remaining 13% opted for Man City.

With all that information in mind, the contestant followed the advice and picked Arsenal. Fortunately for him, Clarkson and the audience were correct, allowing him to advance into the next round. Watch the clip below:

Premier League Winners From 2010 to 2020

Sadly for the team from North London, they did indeed fail to win the Premier League in the 2010s. Arsene Wenger’s Invincibles lifted the title in 2004 and then went on a 22-year drought before Mikel Arteta finally brought the big trophy to the Emirates in 2026.

In the period between 2010 and 2020, there were five different winners. Chelsea started the decade with a win and added two further titles in 2015 and 2017; Manchester United won the Premier League in 2011 and 2013; Both Leicester City and Liverpool won it once each in 2016 and 2020, respectively, while Man City were the most successful team of the era, winning four times (in 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2019).

However, there is a chance that the Etihad outfit are stripped of some of those titles if the club is found guilty of allegedly violating financial regulations between 2009 and 2018.

Islam Makhachev‘s long-time mentor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, said just three words to Ian Machado Garry after the challenger failed in his attempt to beat the champion, and take the UFC welterweight championship to Ireland.

Makhachev and Machado Garry fought in a closely-contested title fight atop the UFC 330 card which took place at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. Garry battled back valiantly in the third and fourth rounds after surrendering the opening two to Makhachev, before the deciding fifth round.

After scores of 49-46 (twice) and 48-47 were read out, in favor of Makhachev, Machado Garry showed respect to Islam’s broader team, which prompted Khabib to give his three-word comment.

What Khabib Told Machado Garry

The fight had been unofficially billed as another meeting between Russian and Irish fighters, following the notorious war between Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor in 2018. But Garry showed after his defeat that there remained nothing but respect from him to Makhachev’s team.

“You guys are amazing,” Garry said. “I have nothing but respect for you.”

Then, Khabib spoke three words to Garry.

For UFC boss Dana White, there was, perhaps, a little too much respect. That’s because the UFC CEO savaged Garry for his behavior just before the start of the fifth round, when one judge believed the fight to be hanging in the balance. “Don’t come out, shake hands and hug before the fifth round,” he fumed, imploring fighters like Garry to instead go gung-ho and throw a “flying knee, or something.”

While Makhachev may move on to a fight against the likes of Carlos Prates or Michael Morales, it remains to be seen how Garry rebuilds.

Mackenzie Dern defeated Gillian Robertson by decision to retain her women’s strawweight title, Jalin Turner knocked out Kaue Fernandes, and Esteban Ribovics finished Edson Barboza.

Liverpool cannot afford to let their already thin squad get even thinner by selling Cody Gakpo to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, or they face a disastrous season under the new boss.

The Reds’ attacking department has been decimated over the last 12 months, with the likes of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah all departing, leaving new manager Andoni Iraola seriously light on forward options heading into the new season. Victor Munoz has arrived from Osasuna to provide the Basque head coach with some additional depth, but the youngster isn’t ready to carry the burden of playing significant minutes for a team with Premier League title aspirations.

Bradley Barcola continues to be linked with a switch to Anfield, but Paris Saint-Germain’s excessive £140 million price tag is delaying negotiations on this front.

It’s entirely possible that the Merseysiders don’t recruit the volume of attackers they need, and thus, they could easily end up regretting their decision to sell Gakpo.

Cody Gakpo Sale Would be Smart Move For Liverpool in Isolation

Spurs are reportedly closing in on the signing of Gakpo, and while a fee is yet to be agreed, Liverpool are expected to cite Anthony Gordon’s £70 million move to Barcelona as a benchmark in their negotiations with the North London club, as per Ben Jacobs.

In isolation, this would be an exceptional sale for the Reds. Gakpo produced an underwhelming 2025/26 season, scoring just seven goals and providing just five assists in 36 Premier League appearances.

While the Dutchman is a valuable player who provides some useful attacking attributes, he is limited in certain respects and far from indispensable.

At 27, £70 million would be an outstanding return for Liverpool, for a player they paid £45 million for, if they can pull it off.

Selling Gakpo Would Still Be a Mistake For Liverpool

While this prospective Gakpo sale would be an astute piece of business in isolation, in the context of Liverpool’s squad, it could potentially be disastrous.

Centrally, the Reds are relying on Alexander Isak, a notoriously injury-prone player, to remain fit for almost the entire season whilst Hugo Ektike recovers from an ACL injury. Behind the Swede, Gakpo is the only senior player capable of doing a job as a striker, before Iraola is forced to turn towards a false-nine option.

Off the left — Gakpo’s primary position — there are a few more candidates to take the Netherlands international’s minutes, although they’re inexperienced at the top level. Munoz looks promising, but it’d be a huge gamble to rely on a mixture of him and 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha as the exclusive left-wing options for the entirety of next season.

While not often deployed on the right, Gakpo could’ve filled in on this side if needed. If Liverpool sanction his departure, they’d be left with the following fit senior attackers:

• Alexander Isak
• Federico Chiesa
• Victor Munoz
• Rio Ngumoha (if he registers as ‘senior’)

The likes of Florian Wirtz, Harvey Elliott and Jeremie Frimpong can be drafted in as forwards, while new signings can still be made, but time is running out for Iraola to construct an attacking unit deep enough to compete on multiple fronts. Selling Gakpo might only make things worse, even if rejecting such a significant offer from Spurs might not be popular.
