Speaking on Monday, Oseni said his warnings ahead of the Osun election were intended to help voters understand the risks involved rather than scare them.

He said, “Last week, when I was telling the people the challenges they would face, it was not to scare them. No, I believe in telling the people the truth so that they know how to react to dangers.

“Yes, same risk assessment. I like to say it the way it is. Tell them the risks involved, and I think it worked for the Osun people because they knew the risks involved. Don’t sugarcoat it for them.

“Just like I’m going to tell the Nigerian people the risks involved. If you think because Osun people stood up, it will be easy in 2027, you are foolish. You are delusional.

“2027 is going to be different from Osun. The federal might that they used and couldn’t execute, they will use it three times over. They will go back to the drawing board and try to perfect it.”

DAILY POST reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday declared Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party the winner of the Osun governorship election.

He said the outcome clearly indicated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had proven himself as a true democrat by allowing citizens to exercise their civic responsibilities without interference.

According to him, the final results showed that Adeleke secured victory in 19 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Oyetola Oyebamiji, won in 11.

Adeleke recorded 511,067 votes against Oyebamiji’s 444,811, while the ADC scored 17,180 votes.

Garba, however, criticised the ADC for its poor performance in the election despite what he described as its outbursts and propaganda.

“I have been telling our people that this ADC will not make any impact. It only exists in a few local governments in the North.

“I was shocked by the poor performance of the ADC in the just-concluded Osun State governorship election,” he said.

He explained that the outcome went beyond the figures recorded at the polls, describing it as a significant expression of democratic choice.

“It also provides an opportunity to consider what the election means for the state of Nigeria’s democracy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

Garba said President Tinubu had shown that occupying the presidency did not automatically mean that every election conducted during his administration must be won by his political party.

He said the distinction was crucial to the survival of democracy.

“When electoral institutions are allowed to function independently and citizens are free to choose their leaders, it strengthens public confidence in democracy and demonstrates the resilience of Nigeria’s democratic institutions,” he said.

Recall that Adeleke of the Accord Party defeated Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to emerge victorious in Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.

Reacting, Frank said Saturday’s poll in Osun was a demonstration of the power of the people and a possible pointer to the 2027 general election.

He noted that the citizens can overcome political pressure and other odds when they remain determined to defend their choices at the polls.

“President Tinubu may think he already has his election results in mind, but ultimately, it is the Nigerian people who will decide his fate through the power of their votes.

“Let 2027 not be business as usual. They must vote, stay, and see their votes counted, just as they have done in Osun.

“I commend the people of Osun for this new political ingenuity, where money is taken, yet still voted for the candidate of their choice. After all, the money belongs to us as citizens, as it was taken from government coffers.

“Going into 2027, I call on Nigerian youths and celebrities alike to borrow a leaf from Davido, as this is not the time to sit on the fence. Nigeria belongs to all of us,” he stated.
