Ebonyi: ADC distributes wards registers, mobilizes for LG election
The African Democratic Congress, ADC, Ebonyi State chapter, has distributed membership registers to the 171 wards in the state as part of mobilisations ahead of LG elections in the state.
Addressing journalists shortly after the exercise at the party’s secretariat, Ebonyi ADC Chairman, Dr. Jennifer Nwafor-Adibe, charged all the ward chairmen to go and mobilise for the party.
Nwafor-Adibe, who called on those who are yet to fully identify with the party to do so, emphasized the importance of members obtaining their Permanent Voter’s Cards, PVCs, and membership cards to justify their status as members of the party.
She explained the essence of the meeting which was attended by ward chairmen, local government chairmen, youth leaders and women leaders. “It’s about telling them the progress of our party and hearing from our chairmen how far they’ve gone in mobilising for the party.
“So, most of the chairmen have already gotten a local government secretariat, likewise some ward chairmen. And as you can see for yourself, we’ve distributed 171 ward registers to all the ward chairmen for onwards registration and mobilisation, which the ADC is doing.
“All the chairmen have been charged to go down and mobilise the people to our party. Now is the time for you to identify fully if you are for us or you are not for us. So, for those standing on the fence, we are still calling on them to come fully and register into our party.
“Your party card and your PVC is your mandate. Get your party card and PVC because if you have a party card and you don’t have a permanent voter’s card, that means you are not a serious member of our party,” Adibe said.
The National Vice Chairman, Diaspora ADC, Chief Fred Onwe, said the party in the Ebonyi State is well equipped to participate in all elections.
He said “So, you can see, as the chairman said, we are distributing ward registers donated by one of our stakeholders, we are not playing. So, we are here to partner with our local government chairmen and the youth leaders and all that, so that we know the area we are lagging behind and do more. So, we are here to tell them that we are ready for elections in any capacity ”
Mrs. Nwotubo Catherine, the zonal Organising Secretary, said the ADC in the state was working hard to rescue Nigerians from pain and sorrow.
She stated, “We are working hard to see that we come together and rescue Nigeria, because Nigeria is in trouble. So, we are working hard to see that ADC rescues Nigeria from pain and sorrow. That’s why we called this meeting to mobilise people, to tell our people they need to come together and work for ADC,” she said.
Engineer Dr Opoke Sunday Andrew, National Coordinator of National Coalition Alliance, who described ADC as a child of circumstance, accused the ruling APC of plunging Nigeria into poverty, insecurity and uncertainties.
He said that ADC has come to rescue Nigeria from insecurity and to create access to democratic dividends.
Opoke said, “This is not the country we prayed for. This is not the country we want. In fact, the leadership has plunged the whole entire nation into confusion. And then we are saying ADC has come. As a child of circumstance, to rescue Nigeria from insecurity. At least it’s no longer a news that people are not safe travelling through land, travelling through air.
“In fact, anywhere you move, a lot of people are waiting to kidnap you, to make you product and commodity. In this country now, people are now product and commodity. So if they kidnap you, they make money through you. So we want a situation where we have a country where there will be security, a country where young people can access dividends of democracy, where a child of nobody can get anything without knowing anybody.
“We want a country where poverty will no longer be the order of the day. We want a country where people can travel and come and be secured. We want a country where people from other countries can say good of us. Now we don’t have good image outside here. We want ADC, and ADC is already prepared, fully prepared.
“No matter what anybody will tell you, let the person know that whether they like it or not, ADC has come as a strong opposition to APC. And in the next election, it is going to be Ebonyians and Nigerians against APC.”

NDC: Nigerians seeing Tinubu’s true colours – Atiku
The African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, says Nigerians are now seeing the true colours of president Bola Tinubu.
Atiku said this in a statement on Saturday in reaction to the court’s judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to register the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, as a political party.
He accused Tinubu of attempting to undermine Nigeria’s democracy through a plot to deregister the NDC, warning that such a move could pave the way for a one-party state.
The former Vice President described the attempt to deregister the opposition party through judicial means as evidence of what he called the administration’s determination to weaken political opposition ahead of the 2027 general election.
He said any effort to restrict political competition or limit citizens’ choices at the ballot box poses a serious threat to democratic governance and national stability.
According to him, the development did not come as a surprise, arguing that recent actions and political signals from the current administration have raised concerns about its commitment to democratic principles.
“Nigerians are now seeing the true colours of President Tinubu, who pretends to be a democrat, but his body language and the sinister activities of his agents contradict his mouthed commitment to free and fair elections,” he said.
