FOX ‘Censors’ NFL Fan’s ICE Chant During US National Anthem
Major American broadcaster FOX appeared to censor a chant from the NFL crowd during the national anthem before kickoff between the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship game on Sunday night. The chant was in response to the fatal shooting in Minneapolis the day before, when 37-year-old intensive care nurse Alex Pretti was shot and killed during a struggle with federal agents.
The US Department of Homeland Security claimed that Pretti was shot because the officer in question was “fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers.” They also said he was carrying a Sig Sauer P320 9mm pistol, for which he had a legal permit and had it loaded. The DHS stated that he “violently resisted” when officials attempted to disarm him, but his family strongly disputed this, issuing a statement condemning “sickening lies,” with video footage backing up their claims.
Protests against ICE’s presence on US streets have erupted nationwide since the incident, coming just two weeks after Renee Nicole Good’s fatal shooting. UFC commentator Joe Rogan even compared the agency to Adolf Hitler’s Gestapo during Nazi Germany. In the wake of these events, sports have continued to serve as a platform for change, with fans using games to voice their opposition to the agency.
NBA Fans Make Feelings Clear With Two-Word Chant Following Alex Pretti Shooting
Minnesota Timberwolves’ game against the Golden State Warriors was psotponed by 24 hours after ICE’s shooting of Alex Pretti over the weekend.
FOX Censor Anti-ICE Chants Prior to NFC Championship Game
After Minnesota Timberwolves supporters shouted “F*** ICE” during the national anthem before their NBA game against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night, fans of the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams followed suit in their NFC Championship game. With a place in the Super Bowl on the line, there aren’t many bigger sporting occasions to use as a platform for protest.
However, it appears FOX was already prepared for such disruptions, as the chants were completely muted during the broadcast, with several seconds of no noise at all before the final part of the anthem was just about caught. Watch the incident below:
In the end, it was the Seahawks who booked their place in Super Bowl LX. They are set to face perennial six‑time winners the New England Patriots at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California following their 31-27 win, but both sides look set to face more background noise from the protests around ICE and immigration enforcement on February 8th.
ICE To Conduct Enforcement Operations at Super Bowl LX
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed that ICE agents will conduct enforcement at Super Bowl LX in February. Tricia McLaughlin Yoho, Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs for the DHS, told TMZ Sports:
“DHS is committed to working with our local and federal partners to ensure the Super Bowl is safe for everyone involved, as we do with every major sporting event, including the World Cup. Our mission remains unchanged.”
Thus, ICE will be a visible presence around Levi’s Stadium before the game between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks, winners of their respective conferences, after Sunday’s contests. DHS adviser Corey Lewandowski said back in October that enforcement is a “directive from the president,” and will not be paused for the Super Bowl.
“There is nowhere you can provide a safe haven for people who are in this country illegally,” Lewandowski said on The Benny Show podcast. “Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else. We will find and deport you. That is a very real situation.”

Update Emerges on Man Utd Signing Newcastle Defender Lewis Hall
An update has now emerged on Manchester United’s interest in Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall from journalist Luke Edwards.
Hall has emerged as one of the most exciting young left-backs in Europe over the last couple of years, but he struggled to nail down a starting place in Eddie Howe’s side towards the end of last season.
GIVEMESPORT sources recently confirmed that Hall is considering his future with the Magpies after being left devastated by his omission from the England World Cup squad.
It’s understood that Manchester United are one of the sides showing an interest in signing Hall as he aims to impress Thomas Tuchel for the future.
Hall was playing behind Dan Burn for Newcastle in the final weeks of the season, and Tuchel ended up calling up the latter for the World Cup.
Update: Man Utd Interest in Lewis Hall
Reliable journalist Edwards has provided an update on Manchester United’s reported interest in Newcastle defender Hall.
Edwards claims that Newcastle have not had any contact from the Red Devils and have not been informed that the player wants to leave.
As it stands, Manchester United have clearly not held club-to-club talks, which is no surprise as they undoubtedly have other priorities.
There’s no doubt Hall will be frustrated with his situation at the moment, in terms of club and country. He’ll at least be hoping for a guaranteed start next season.

Newcastle Could Struggle to Keep Hall
Newcastle might find it difficult to keep Hall at the club heading into the summer transfer window, especially if a club like Manchester United are in the race.
The Magpies endured a difficult 2025-2026 season, meaning they won’t be playing European football next campaign.
The Red Devils will be able to offer Hall Champions League football and a club heading in the right direction under Michael Carrick.
Newcastle took a huge step back last season, and it’s no surprise that Hall is disappointed with his situation after failing to make the England squad.
At one point, it looked like Hall would be a guarantee to start at left back for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Tottenham in Talks to Sign Free Agent Striker Dusan Vlahovic
Tottenham are preparing for one of their most crucial summer transfer windows in their recent history after being involved in a relegation battle during the 2025-2026 season.
It’s the first window under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, and the hierarchy will likely be looking to back him in the market.
The Italian manager certainly did a good enough job in his first few months in charge to warrant the club backing him.
There’s an argument to suggest that Spurs need reinforcements all over the pitch in the summer, especially as there’s likely to be players that will want to leave the club.
So far this summer, Tottenham are already closing in on the double signing of Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, who both look set to arrive on free transfers, GIVEMESPORT understands.

Tottenham Hold Striker Talks
According to a report from TeamTalk, Tottenham are one of the sides to have held talks with the camp of Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Serbian forward looks set to leave Juventus this summer when his contract expires, and it’s claimed that he would prefer a move to a European side despite interest from Saudi Arabia.
A host of Premier League clubs have also spoken to Vlahovic’s camp. Many are likely to see him as one of the bargains of the summer due to his free agent status.
An announcement on Wednesday confirmed that Vlahovic would not be signing a new contract at Juve, and he’s now free to join another club this summer.

Vlahovic’s Wage Could be an Issue
Although Vlahovic is going to be available on a free transfer during the summer transfer window, Tottenham are still likely to have to pay him a significant wage package.
Reports have claimed that Vlahovic is demanding in the region of £266,000 a week, which is certainly a lot for a club like Tottenham.
Vlahovic, described as being one of the best strikers in the world by teammate Khephren Thuram, hasn’t been at his best in the last few years.
There’s no doubt Vlahovic would improve Tottenham’s striker options, but they have to weigh up whether it makes sense from a financial perspective as well as a football one.

F1 Driver ‘Under Pressure’ to Save His Job Heading Into Monaco GP
The 2026 Formula One season may only be five races old, but one driver is already “under pressure” to save his job heading into this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix.
The current campaign couldn’t have gone any better for Mercedes, who have won every race to date this season. Many other teams, however, are struggling for pace amid the raft of technical changes that have been introduced for 2026.
As a result of the ever-changing nature of the sport, teams are consistently evaluating their approaches, including who is driving their cars.
F1 Driver Faces Uncertain Future Despite Promising Start to 2026 Season
Even those who have shown signs of improvement seemingly aren’t exempt from the chopping block as a new report suggests that an F1 team could be preparing to cut ties with a driver who has scored points in three of this year’s five races.
New Zealand’s Liam Lawson is no stranger to having to battle for his spot on the F1 grid, having been demoted from Red Bull to sister team Racing Bulls after just two races of the 2025 campaign.
The 24-year-old was then forced to fend off competition from Yuki Tsunoda to retain his seat in 2026. To his credit, Lawson has made a creditable start to the new campaign, racking up a total of 16 points.
To put that number into perspective, only Max Verstappen (43) has more points this season within the Red Bull family. Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate, Isack Hadjar, sits on 14 points, with Lawson’s Racing Bulls colleague Arvid Lindblad having picked up just five points.
What Under Pressure F1 Driver Must Do To Save His Job
However, despite being impressed by the Kiwi’s start to the campaign, Racing Bulls could ruthlessly axe him if his results drop off. They already have his replacement in mind.
The Red Bull second string are increasingly keen to hand an opportunity to teenage F2 prospect Nikola Tsolov and a recent report from SoyMotor suggests that Lawson could be the man to make way for the talented Bulgarian.
The report notes that Tsolov is “knocking on the door” for a seat at Racing Bulls next season and believes that Lawson will find himself out of a job if he doesn’t continue to outperform his current teammate Lindblad.
Racing Bulls only handed Lawson a one-year deal in December, meaning that it won’t cost them anything to move on from him at the end of the season. Sources suggest that he will need to maintain a “clear advantage” over Lindblad in the Drivers’ Championship standings in order to earn a fresh contract and retain his seat.
That means that every race counts for Lawson, starting in Monaco this weekend.
