Crystal Palace Eyeing Move for Axel Disasi to Replace Marc Guehi

Published

on

Crystal Palace could rival West Ham for out of favour Chelsea centre-back Axel Disasi in the closing stages of the January transfer window.

The Frenchman has not played a competitive senior game since the end of last season, when he was on loan at Aston Villa. He did return to train with the Chelsea first team earlier this month under Liam Rosenior.

However, the former Monaco man is still seeking a move in a bid to reignite his career. Palace, after losing club captain Marc Guehi to Manchester City for £20million, are one of the few teams linked with Disasi.

The 27-year-old has been a target for West Ham throughout the month but now talkSPORT have suggested Palace are keeping tabs on the player.

Disasi has not played for Chelsea since making a brief substitute appearance under Enzo Maresca 12 months ago. He was subsequently sent out to Villa, where he was used by Unai Emery 10 times across the Premier League and Champions League.

For Mauricio Pochettino, Disasi had been a regular, playing 31 league matches in his only full season at Stamford Bridge. Signed for £35million, he is now in footballing purgatory and needs to find a place for a fresh start.

Palace have struggled over the past two months, not helped by the uncertainty over Oliver Glasner’s future and then Guehi’s departure. Young defender Jaydee Canvot has come into the team but has been at fault for several goals.

If Palace are to go in the Conference League and pull themselves out of a looming relegation scrap, Disasi offers an experienced hand and a desperation to play.

Disasi would be a good deal for Palace

It perhaps says something about the type of player and situation that both Palace and West Ham are in the mix for Disasi. The ‘monster’ centre-back has been left wanting when dealing with large spaces but is a more than capable box defender.

With previous in the Champions League, Disasi is a former France international with plenty to give. He may not be the most glitzy name but neither Palace or West Ham are in particularly flashy positions right now.

If a deal can be struck which does not cripple either side financially, and works for Disasi, then there is a logic to it. He has played in a back three before and will be desperate to get onto the pitch as often as possible.

Even if there is rustiness at the start, Disasi is a safe bet at this stage and in an emergency.

The one thing Disasi does not have under his belt is game time. Liam Rosenior explained that he is lacking in match sharpness, saying earlier in January: “Because of the situation he’s been in, he’s behind in terms of his fitness, his match fitness, and we’ll keep working with him really, really hard to get him up to speed.”

Rosenior added: “I had a really good meeting with him a couple of days ago. I wanted to catch up with him, see where he was in terms of his career.

“I said to the players, it’s one thing saying things, it’s another thing living that. I said to the players when I came in, it’s a clean slate for everybody.

“So it was only right for me to have a conversation with him, a really good conversation. I got to know him really, really well. It was the right thing to be back involved with the group.”

Update Emerges on Man Utd Signing Newcastle Defender Lewis Hall

Published

An update has now emerged on Manchester United’s interest in Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall from journalist Luke Edwards.

Hall has emerged as one of the most exciting young left-backs in Europe over the last couple of years, but he struggled to nail down a starting place in Eddie Howe’s side towards the end of last season.

GIVEMESPORT sources recently confirmed that Hall is considering his future with the Magpies after being left devastated by his omission from the England World Cup squad.

It’s understood that Manchester United are one of the sides showing an interest in signing Hall as he aims to impress Thomas Tuchel for the future.

Hall was playing behind Dan Burn for Newcastle in the final weeks of the season, and Tuchel ended up calling up the latter for the World Cup.

Update: Man Utd Interest in Lewis Hall

Reliable journalist Edwards has provided an update on Manchester United’s reported interest in Newcastle defender Hall.

Edwards claims that Newcastle have not had any contact from the Red Devils and have not been informed that the player wants to leave.

As it stands, Manchester United have clearly not held club-to-club talks, which is no surprise as they undoubtedly have other priorities.

There’s no doubt Hall will be frustrated with his situation at the moment, in terms of club and country. He’ll at least be hoping for a guaranteed start next season.

Newcastle Could Struggle to Keep Hall

Newcastle might find it difficult to keep Hall at the club heading into the summer transfer window, especially if a club like Manchester United are in the race.

The Magpies endured a difficult 2025-2026 season, meaning they won’t be playing European football next campaign.

The Red Devils will be able to offer Hall Champions League football and a club heading in the right direction under Michael Carrick.

Newcastle took a huge step back last season, and it’s no surprise that Hall is disappointed with his situation after failing to make the England squad.

At one point, it looked like Hall would be a guarantee to start at left back for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Tottenham in Talks to Sign Free Agent Striker Dusan Vlahovic

Tottenham are preparing for one of their most crucial summer transfer windows in their recent history after being involved in a relegation battle during the 2025-2026 season.

It’s the first window under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, and the hierarchy will likely be looking to back him in the market.

The Italian manager certainly did a good enough job in his first few months in charge to warrant the club backing him.

There’s an argument to suggest that Spurs need reinforcements all over the pitch in the summer, especially as there’s likely to be players that will want to leave the club.

So far this summer, Tottenham are already closing in on the double signing of Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, who both look set to arrive on free transfers, GIVEMESPORT understands.

According to a report from TeamTalk, Tottenham are one of the sides to have held talks with the camp of Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Serbian forward looks set to leave Juventus this summer when his contract expires, and it’s claimed that he would prefer a move to a European side despite interest from Saudi Arabia.

A host of Premier League clubs have also spoken to Vlahovic’s camp. Many are likely to see him as one of the bargains of the summer due to his free agent status.

An announcement on Wednesday confirmed that Vlahovic would not be signing a new contract at Juve, and he’s now free to join another club this summer.

Vlahovic’s Wage Could be an Issue

Although Vlahovic is going to be available on a free transfer during the summer transfer window, Tottenham are still likely to have to pay him a significant wage package.

Reports have claimed that Vlahovic is demanding in the region of £266,000 a week, which is certainly a lot for a club like Tottenham.

Vlahovic, described as being one of the best strikers in the world by teammate Khephren Thuram, hasn’t been at his best in the last few years.

There’s no doubt Vlahovic would improve Tottenham’s striker options, but they have to weigh up whether it makes sense from a financial perspective as well as a football one.

F1 Driver ‘Under Pressure’ to Save His Job Heading Into Monaco GP

The 2026 Formula One season may only be five races old, but one driver is already “under pressure” to save his job heading into this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix.

The current campaign couldn’t have gone any better for Mercedes, who have won every race to date this season. Many other teams, however, are struggling for pace amid the raft of technical changes that have been introduced for 2026.

As a result of the ever-changing nature of the sport, teams are consistently evaluating their approaches, including who is driving their cars.

F1 Driver Faces Uncertain Future Despite Promising Start to 2026 Season

Even those who have shown signs of improvement seemingly aren’t exempt from the chopping block as a new report suggests that an F1 team could be preparing to cut ties with a driver who has scored points in three of this year’s five races.

New Zealand’s Liam Lawson is no stranger to having to battle for his spot on the F1 grid, having been demoted from Red Bull to sister team Racing Bulls after just two races of the 2025 campaign.

The 24-year-old was then forced to fend off competition from Yuki Tsunoda to retain his seat in 2026. To his credit, Lawson has made a creditable start to the new campaign, racking up a total of 16 points.

To put that number into perspective, only Max Verstappen (43) has more points this season within the Red Bull family. Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate, Isack Hadjar, sits on 14 points, with Lawson’s Racing Bulls colleague Arvid Lindblad having picked up just five points.

However, despite being impressed by the Kiwi’s start to the campaign, Racing Bulls could ruthlessly axe him if his results drop off. They already have his replacement in mind.

The Red Bull second string are increasingly keen to hand an opportunity to teenage F2 prospect Nikola Tsolov and a recent report from SoyMotor suggests that Lawson could be the man to make way for the talented Bulgarian.

The report notes that Tsolov is “knocking on the door” for a seat at Racing Bulls next season and believes that Lawson will find himself out of a job if he doesn’t continue to outperform his current teammate Lindblad.

Racing Bulls only handed Lawson a one-year deal in December, meaning that it won’t cost them anything to move on from him at the end of the season. Sources suggest that he will need to maintain a “clear advantage” over Lindblad in the Drivers’ Championship standings in order to earn a fresh contract and retain his seat.

That means that every race counts for Lawson, starting in Monaco this weekend.
