Thierry Henry Pinpoints Moment Bruno Fernandes ‘Killed’ Amad v Aston Villa
Thierry Henry has pinpointed the moment Bruno Fernandes ‘killed’ one of his teammates during Manchester United’s victory over Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
United have been flying in recent weeks and a lot of their success is down to the brilliance of the Portuguese midfielder. The 31-year-old was brilliant again against Aston Villa as he led his side to a crucial 3-1 victory.
Fernandes, now one of the favourites to win the PFA Player of the Year award, set up Casemiro’s opener with a pinpoint corner before providing an exquisite pass for Matheus Cunha’s strike.
His two assists now mean he has now recorded 16 assists in England’s top tier in 2025/26. He needs to record five assists in his final eight matches of the season to break the record for the most Premier League assists in a single season.
Thierry Henry Shows Moment Fernandes ‘Killed’ Amad
Fernandes has been widely praised for his performances in recent weeks and Thierry Henry has now eulogised about Man Utd’s captain.
Speaking about the Poutuguese midfielder on Monday Night Football, Henry said: “If you can control the speed of your brain you’re going to be faster than anyone on the field and this is what this guy has in abundance.
“I’ve said it before, he doesn’t play football he thinks football. He did it so well again at the weekend. In the second half he was like the kid at school who’s better than everyone, he just got on the ball and passed it forward whenever he could.
“Something that people don’t often see with Bruno – because he’s so great on the ball – is his work ethic. He can walk around the pitch if he wants because he’s the best player but then he pops up defending.”
Henry also highlighted the moment Fernandes ‘killed’ Amad for not giving him the ball with a few minutes of the match remaining.
Fernandes wanted Amad to pass the ball to him, but he found Manuel Ugarte instead. Ugarte then tried to pick Fernandes out, but his clipped ball over the top had too much pace on it and it was gathered by Emiliano Martinez. Fernandes then erupted at Amad as he made his feelings clear.

Henry said: “He wanted the ball [off Amad Diallo], he wanted the ball. He gets the ball after but he’s flat-footed by that point.
“He wanted the ball from Amad Diallo, not Manuel Ugarte, and I wanted to show that because this is at 3-1 with just a few minutes to go.
“He killed Amad Diallo for at least seven seconds! That’s just him, he will argue with his Dad or with anyone but he still finds a way.
“Even when he wins he’s like that, he demands excellence from himself and his teammates. For me, that’s a real leader. Look at him, he’s still going at Amad! He didn’t like it.
“My name for him now is Braino Fernandes because this guy thinks on the pitch and I love it.”
Incredible Bruno Fernandes Statistic Emerges After Man Utd 3-1 Aston Villa
The Monday Night Football team shared an insane graphic which shows just how good Fernandes has been this season.
The graphic displayed every player that has created one chance or more in the Premier League this season. Of the 440+ players that have managed to do so, Fernandes is well clear of the rest, notching close to 100.
That’s far more than the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Bukayo Saka, Florian Wirtz and Declan Rice, all of which are yet to break the 60 mark.
Henry and Jamie Carragher let out a little giggle when they saw how far Fernandes was in front of the rest.

England Thrash Opponents in Behind-Closed-Doors Friendly Before World Cup
England thrashed American side Miami FC in a behind-closed-doors friendly as they continued their preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
Thomas Tuchel’s side played their final official warm-up match ahead of this summer’s tournament on Wednesday as they took on Costa Rica.
Declan Rice, Anthony Gordon and Ollie Watkins were all on the scoresheet as England, looking to end their 60-year major trophy drought, won 3-0 in Orlando.
A day later, England took on Miami FC, who compete in the USL Championship, the second tier of the American soccer league system. Details of the match have now emerged.
England Thrash Miami FC
Speaking ahead of England’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Miami FC at their training base, Tuchel said: It will be a match according to our rules. It will not be 90 minutes, maybe 60 minutes, maybe 2 x 30 or 2 x 25. It is to get some minutes into the legs of players who didn’t get minutes against Costa Rica.”
The Daily Mail have now revealed exactly how the match played out.
Tuchel decided to rest many England stars that played the majority of the game against Costa Rica, with the likes of Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham not involved.
But, despite not being at full strength, the Three Lions cruised to a 6-0 victory. The match was split into two sections, with England winning the first half 1-0 and the second 5-0.
Ivan Toney, who was an unused substitute against Costa Rica, was the star man. The Al-Ahli striker scored three times, including one ‘worldie’ from long range.
Liverpool wonderkid Rio Ngumoha, considered one of the best young players in world football, is also said to have scored ‘a breathtaking strike from distance.’ The 17-year-old was not included in England’s 26-man squad for the World Cup and will leave camp this weekend, as will Ethan Nwaneri, Alex Scott and Josh King, who also featured in the game.
Jordan Henderson and Nwaneri also got on the scoresheet, while Marc Guehi and Kobbie Mainoo are both said to have impressed.
There were no injuries reported, with the Daily Mail concluding by saying ‘observers were impressed with the fitness, touch and intensity of England.’
Among the players that turned out for Miami FC was Englishman, Mason Tunbridge. The 25-year-old, who has been in the US since 2019, took a picture with Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice.
Thomas Tuchel Happy With England’s Performance vs Costa Rica
Tuchel shared his happiness at England’s win against Costa Rica on Wednesday. Speaking after the match, he said, per the Guardian:
“I wished for that, I demanded that; I said before the match we want to push it to the next level, from intensity, commitment, cohesion, and we did that. We could see the impact of the Arsenal players coming into camp and we could see the impact of training.
“We see the adaptation to the heat and we see things clicking, but we demanded it today from the players to take the next step and they did. The result takes care of itself, but we did it on a high level.

“I think we set the tone today in the meeting and the players were ready to follow, to have the next step in intensity and the way we play, to push ourselves and get a good feeling out of it. The energy in the stadium was amazing. I thought: ‘OK, if we can really play like this and grow into the tournament and have this kind of cohesion and brotherhood and team spirit that we showed today, then we will have an amazing connection with the fans.”
England fly to Kansas City on Saturday morning. They begin their World Cup campaign on Wednesday, June 17, when they take on Croatia at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Man Utd Add Fisayo Dele-Bashiru to Transfer Shortlist
Manchester United have put a former Manchester City academy player on their transfer shortlist this summer, according to reports.
On Wednesday, the Red Devils confirmed their retained list ahead of the 2026-27 season. The departures of Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho were confirmed following the end of their contracts.
Casemiro is also leaving the club but that had already been announced before the end of the campaign.
United are keen to add at least two midfielders to their squad for next term after they finished third in the Premier League and qualified for the Champions League.
Michael Carrick has been appointed as permanent manager on a two-year deal as he prepares for his first full season in charge at Old Trafford.
Man Utd target Fisayo Dele-Bashiru
According to Sky Sports, Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is a player on United’s transfer wishlist.
The 25-year-old Nigeria international has been with the Italian club since 2024, joining on loan for one year before his move was made permanent 12 months ago.
He is familiar with English football after coming through the academy at Man City. He never made a senior appearance for the Etihad Stadium outfit but spent three years at Sheffield Wednesday after leaving City.
He has two years to run on his contract with Lazio but he is open to a Premier League switch, having spent his formative years in England. United have several options on their shortlist ahead of the new season, with Elliot Anderson remaining a key target.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru could prove to be bargain
Nottingham Forest are standing firm on their valuation of the England international, however. It has been reported that an offer worth up to £120m has been submitted by City.
Forest want £120m guaranteed with City’s offer standing at £106m plus add-ons.
Meanwhile, Dele-Bashiru is only valued at around £15.5m by Lazio. If United are seeking two additions to their midfielder, the former Owls midfielder could prove to be a shrewd option.

Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri was full of praise for the player earlier in the season when he scored in the Coppa Italia semi-final. After the game, the ex-Chelsea manager highlighted the player’s lightning-quick pace, as he revealed the midfielder can ‘reach speeds of 36 km/h‘.
The moves of Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo to Arsenal and Chelsea three years ago have inflated the midfield market and the Red Devils could find joy in signing a player such as Dele-Bashiru.
There is no doubting Anderson’s obvious quality, but signing players for huge fees can prove risky while they are also deals which can take up a lot of time.

Man Utd Handed Transfer Blow In Race For Afonso Moreira
Manchester United’s interest in a potential wonderkid winger has been knocked back, as FootMercato reports that talks have opened with a rival club for their signature.
The Red Devils are keen to bolster their whole squad after confirming a return to the Champions League next season, with an increased playing schedule and step up in quality set to test the managerial acumen of Michael Carrick to the extremes.
The midfield has been the main area of focus so far, with the central ranks in more immediate need of improvement following Casemiro’s exit as a free agent.
Beyond several potential moves there, Man United are also looking at options to bring some quality to the forward ranks who can compete with the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko.
A particular emphasis is set to be placed on promising talents for the future, but one target could now move elsewhere.
Afonso Moreira Transfer Talks
Manchester United have shown interest in a move for Lyon winger Afonso Moreira, after the 21-year-old star impressed in Ligue 1 over the previous campaign.
Reports claimed that the Red Devils had made contact for Moreira to land a potential bargain deal for the Portuguese forward, who looks set for an exit over the summer.
However, according to FootMercato, Bayer Leverkusen have opened talks with Lyon to try and get a deal over the line for the star in the coming days.
It comes as the French club need to sell by June 30th to comply with finance rules in the division, with Atletico Madrid among the other teams to express interest.
Leverkusen’s push to sign Moreira comes as a blow to Man United, who may struggle to guarantee game time for the youngster as he looks to progress.
Missing out on the youngster, who has been described as “talented”, would be a potential missed opportunity to land a future star.

Man United Forward Depth
Manchester United need to add forward depth, but the wide areas may not be as much of a priority as the centre-forward role this summer.
On the wings, Cunha and Mbeumo are regular options, backed up with quality in Amad Diallo and Patrick Dorgu, who have chipped in plenty over the past season.
Up front may be more of a consideration because of a potential exit for Joshua Zirkzee. That would leave just Benjamin Sesko as a regular centre-forward.
Benjamin Sesko: My Hardest Challenge so far at Man United
Exclusive: Benjamin Sesko has revealed the toughest challenge of his Man Utd career so far.
A versatile option such as Iliman Ndiaye could be on the cards, as he is capable of playing as a central striker, as well as on the wings if required.
It remains to be seen who could be next up, but it looks unlikely to be Moreira.
