2027: Nobody can match my plans for the North — Peter Obi
Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has expressed confidence in his ability to secure support from northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections, stating that no other candidate can match his plans for the region.
Speaking during an appearance on Prime Time on Arise Television on Monday, Obi said he intends to transform the North, which he described as Nigeria’s greatest asset.
“Nobody can do what I intend to do in the North. We will change the North. Our greatest asset as a country is in the North. We can make more money from agriculture than we make from oil,” he said.

According to him, a thriving opposition is essential for effective governance and accountability.
“The government should protect the opposition. In fact, they should make opposition stronger and make it work,” he added.

What Babachir Lawal said about Atiku scary – Presidency
The presidency has expressed security concerns over comment against the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar by a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.
DAILY POST reports that Babachir, while announcing his resignation from the ADC on Monday, alleged that Atiku is a manipulator, stating that the outcome of the recently concluded primary election of the party was predetermined to favour the former vice president.
According to him, the primary elections at all levels were “massively rigged to favour Kachalla Abubakar Atiku”.
He alleged that results from the polls were “just written or rewritten to favour him and his coven”.
Reacting, Presidential spokesperson, Daniel Bwala in a post on his official X handle, said what the former SGF “said about the candidate of ADC, if verified is scary and will undermine the national security of Nigeria”.
According to Bwala, the plans of opposition leaders plotting to remove President Tinubu in 2027 had been exposed, stating that his principal remained the best candidate.
Bwala claimed that in the past two or three months, “these people were talking about how they were made from heaven as one indivisible and indisoluble coalition sent by God to come and rescue Nigeria; and alas all their intentions and plans have been exposed”.
He said with the allegations against some of the opposition candidates, the “choice for 2027 has never been more clearer. President Tinubu in all honesty is a million miles ahead of them”.
