Novak Djokovic’s 6-Word Comment Overheard After Being Booed

Published

on

Novak Djokovic has been defying time in his performance at the French Open this year. He progressed to the third round of the tournament after beating French world ranked No. 74 Valentin Royer 6-3, 6-2, 6-7 (7-9), 6-3.

Djokovic and the crowd, however, showed some animosity towards one another over the course of the game, with the home crowd loud in their support for his French rival. The 39-year-old now moves on, though, to face Brazil 19-year-old Joao Fonseca in the third round for a place in the last 16.

In taking the win, Djokovic secured a 21st third-round appearance at the tournament, extending his own personal record. The 24-time Grand Slam champion also became the first man to play 120 matches at a single Grand Slam event, and looks poised to continue his journey towards a record-breaking 25th title.

This incredible achievement, however, does not come without its controversy. Djokovic was affected by the vocal crowd, at one point having a serve interrupted by a spectator and boos from the audience. This forced the umpire to call: “Ladies and gentlemen, please have some respect for both of the players.”

In response to this call, Djokovic was seen on the court to respond: “They have no respect. No respect.”

French Open Boycott: Novak Djokovic Reveals Why He Won’t Be Taking Part

Novak Djokovic has confirmed he won’t be involved with the ongoing media strike tennis players are embarking on ahead of the French Open.

While the Serbian did not allow this interruption to affect the rest of his performance, he later added on the court: “I hope I won’t play any more French players for the rest of the tournament.”

The atmosphere of the home crowd was clearly a concern, with Djokovic acknowledging: “It was a very tough match, a challenge right from the start.”

With his next opponent being Brazilian, the crowd will likely serve as less of a problem in Djokovic’s third-round match. Joao Fonseca fought back in his second-round match from two sets behind, beating the young Croatian star Dino Prizmic 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, 6-2.

Heat Causing Problems For Players at French Open

The crowd isn’t the only concern for players at Roland Garros. The recent heat wave has had a huge impact on players, with Djokovic calling for organisers to use common sense and push more matches to later in the day due to the extreme heat.

This cause for concern was seen when 26th-seed Jakub Mensik collapsed on the court due to cramps and left the court in a wheelchair during his second-round win over Mariano Navone.

Tennis Fans Concerned For Rafael Nadal After Recent Photo of Him and Roger Federer

Tennis fans have taken to social media to voice their concerns for former superstar Rafael Nadal.

The Spaniard, now 39, posted a picture of himself and fellow tennis legend, Roger Federer, together in Madrid. The picture quickly got fans talking about Nadal’s changes in physique since his retirement from tennis back in 2024.

Nadal is widely considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time, with a glittering career consisting of 22 Grand Slam titles during one of the most competitive eras of the sport. Amongst those is a stunning 14 victories at the French Open with him being crowned the ‘King of Clay.’

He is one of only three players to have completed the career Golden Slam in men’s singles, and was also once the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam at the age of just 24.

Since retiring, Nadal has focused on expanding his legacy through managing the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca, mentoring the next generation of tennis players. He is also noted to be a keen padel and golf player too.

In the picture posted alongside Federer, Nadal captioned it: “Look who I found in Madrid!”

Fans were quick to notice the loss of muscle since his retirement.

One fan said: “Wth happened to Rafa? Is he ill or something?”

Roger Federer Named His Toughest Tennis Opponent of All Time

Roger Federer has played against the best of the best when it comes to tennis, but one man stands out for him as the toughest opponent of his career.

Another voiced their concerns, saying: “Are you alright, Rafa? You look pretty weak. Hope you are doing great.”

One fan noted the muscle loss compared to when he was playing by mentioning the power and strength Nadal was known for during his career: “Is it me, or you’ve lost muscles. The Nadal muscles.”

Other fans, however, rushed to Rafa’s defence and said: “When someone retires from being a professional athlete, their body no longer looks like a professional athlete’s body because they are not spending all their time being a professional athlete. This isn’t complicated.”

Part of Nadal’s loss of muscle mass may be due to the foot injury he has been suffering from for many years. He recently revealed he was diagnosed with Muller-Weiss Syndrome, a rare degenerative foot condition which causes the collapse of the tarsal navicular bone, causing it to deform over time.

This may be affecting Nadal’s ability to maintain shape as he is not able to push his body in training. It may also be beneficial to carry less muscle as it puts less weight and stress on his foot.

Man Utd Officials Jet Out To Italy to Complete Second Transfer

Manchester United certainly have plenty of irons in the fire when it comes to midfielder signings in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have been linked with a number of high-profile stars and that’s before the summer window has even opened, with new permanent manager eyeing up two central midfielder signings before looking at the rest of his squad depth.

And it looks like they have settled on their first signing of the summer already in Atalanta’s Ederson.

United have been in advanced talks with the Brazilian for a number of days now and it emerged on Wednesda that a fee of just under €45million (£39million) was close to being agreed between the two clubs and that a deal could be completed quickly before the World Cup kicks off because personal terms have already been agreed with the player over a five-year contract at Old Trafford.

United ready to move on to next name on transfer shortlist

GIVEMESPORT reported on Monday that United officials had jetted out to Italy to finalise talks with Atalanta over the move, but it seems they may not only have been there for Ederson.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United chiefs will have been talking to Sandro Tonali’s representatives about a transfer too.

Newcastle United midfielder Tonali is another name on the Man Utd shortlist of midfielders, although there was a feeling that the transfer fee and wages demands might put United off concluding a deal.

The rumours have not gone away, however, and Romano said: “Man United basically what they did is fly to Italy with the delegation to start conversations on several topics, don’t forget that, for example, the agents of Tonali are in Italy, and there are more things they can discuss, for example, exits for the summer transfer window.

“So, Man United had several meetings, we know they are always very active in the Italian market.”

As reported on Wednesday by CalcioMercato, United were ready to ‘go all in’ to sign Tonali, with the outlet describing the 26-year-old as being ‘on his way’ to joining the club.

Elliot Anderson has been United’s number one priority

United could make the £86million move to sign Tonali if they pull out of talks to sign their number one target Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, who is understood to be commanding a £100million fee this summer.

The Mirror reported on Wednesday that United were ready to complete a u-turn and pull the plug on their plans to sign Anderson, which would leave them with the money to spend on Ederson and Tonali, with GMS sources understanding United have placed a £140million to £150million figure on improving their midfield with two new signings.

Newcastle will have to sell one or two high-profile players this summer, with Anthony Gordon already on his way out with a deal agreed to take him to Barcelona.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Contestant Loses Thousands After Trusting Audience on Boxing Question

A Who Wants To Be A Millionaire contestant missed out on a huge prize after asking the audience for help on a question about boxing.

It is often a sports fan’s favourite part in a quiz show when a sports-related question comes up, but this can pose a huge challenge for contestants who have minimal knowledge of certain sports.

On this occasion, the boxing-related question caused a huge issue for the participant, Rosie Hurst.

Boxing Question Stumps Quiz Show Contestant

In the episode from March 2025, she managed to successfully get through the first eight questions with no qualms. She had used zero lifelines, so was in a promising position to scoop up a sizeable prize.

Despite this, a major challenge arose when she faced a question for £16,000. She was asked about boxing weight classes. Unsure of the answer, she turned to the audience for assistance by using the first of her four lifelines to help answer the question.

The question asked her to pick what she thought was the heaviest of these four men’s weight divisions: bantamweight, middleweight, welterweight, and flyweight.

Encouragingly, she managed to correctly pick out both bantamweight and flyweight as the two lightest divisions. She was then stuck over the other two options, so she decided to call for help from the audience.

Featuring icons such as Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson, boxing’s 20 greatest fighters of all time have been ranked via a fan vote.

The question was repeated for the audience who voted in majority (63%) for welterweight as the heaviest, with 26% choosing middleweight as the heaviest, with 8% going for flyweight, and only 3% choosing bantamweight.

Following the help, Rosie chose to lock in welterweight as her final answer. Unfortunately, show host Jeremy Clarkson had to break the news to her that, in fact, the crowd had got it wrong, and the correct answer was instead middleweight.

Clarkson ranted to the audience, “You useless imbeciles”, displaying his disappointment for the contestant who had been let down by the crowd.

Rosie’s incorrect answer saw her lose out on the £16,000 up for grabs from the question, and caused her prize to plummet from £8,000 down to just £1,000.

Weight Classes in Boxing

Of the four weight divisions mentioned as possible answers, middleweights are the heaviest boxers, with the weight limit being exactly 160 pounds (72.6kg). Welterweight follows this at 147 pounds (66.7kg). Following that is bantamweight, coming in at 118 pounds (53.5kg), and finally flyweight at 112 pounds (50.8kg).

This is a question that the majority of boxing fans would have been able to correctly answer with ease, but a challenging one for those with limited knowledge of the sport.
