‘I Spent N100m, you can’t dump me’ — Aggrieved aspirant, Dagogo drags APC to court

Published

An aggrieved aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused the ruling party of attempting to sideline him after he allegedly spent over N100 million pursuing his political ambition under the party’s platform.

The aspirant, Ambassador Fubara Dagogo, dragged the APC and some of its top officials before a Federal High Court in Abuja, insisting that he was unlawfully excluded from contesting for the position of National Vice Chairman (South-South) ahead of the party’s national convention.

According to court documents filed before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, Dagogo claimed he duly paid for the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms but was denied access to the forms despite meeting all requirements.

“You cannot discard me after I spent over N100 million pursuing this ambition,” the aggrieved aspirant reportedly argued in his suit, accusing party officials of frustrating his participation in the exercise.

Dagogo named the APC, its National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, National Vice Chairman (South-South), Victor Giadom, and National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, as defendants in the suit.

The plaintiff is seeking an order nullifying any outcome of the South-South zonal congress conducted without his participation. He is also demanding N100 million in damages for what he described as embarrassment, emotional distress and mental torture allegedly caused by the party’s actions.

In his affidavit, Dagogo alleged that after paying the required fees on March 13, 2026, he visited the APC national secretariat to collect the nomination forms but was informed that the forms were no longer available.

He further alleged that some party officials deliberately blocked him from obtaining the forms because of fears that he could defeat the incumbent officeholder in the contest.

However, the APC, through its legal representatives, asked the court to dismiss the suit, arguing that the matter concerns the internal affairs of the party and is therefore not justiciable.

Peter Obi talk-and-do leader – Obidient Movement

The Obidient Movement has described the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as a talk-and-do leader.

National Coordinator of the movement, Yunusa Tanko, made this remark on Sunday in an interview on Arise Television, noting that Obi’s record as Anambra state governor proves it.

He was reacting to the emergence of Obi as the NDC presidential candidate ahead of the next year’s general elections.

DAILY POST reports that the NDC on Saturday declared Obi as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

Tanko said, “Peter Obi is different because he doesn’t just make promises, he keeps them and wants Nigerians to hold him accountable.

“His record as governor reflects that commitment. His pledge to serve only four years was publicly affirmed at the party level, and the decision was also documented during the party’s affirmation process, including a resolution on zoning after his term.

“For supporters, this is a clear signal that what he promises is what he intends to do, and it reinforces his message of accountability and trust in leadership.”

Following his official confirmation as the NDC presidential candidate, Obi thereafter unveiled former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso as his running mate.

Police blockade of PDP convention attack on Nigeria democracy – Agbedi

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, caucus leader at the House Of Representatives, Fred Agbedi, has frowned at the Nigeria police blockade of the party’s convention.

Speaking in an interview on Arise Television on Sunday, Agbedi described the action as an attack on Nigeria’s democracy.

Operatives of the Nigeria police on Saturday allegedly barricaded roads leading to the venue scheduled for the ratification of former President Goodluck Jonathan as the presidential candidate of the Taminu Turaki-led faction of the PDP.

Reacting to the incident, Agbedi said, “They blocked the entire route, denied Nigerians access to the road, and prevented the PDP from using a venue it had lawfully secured for its convention.

“Faced with what we believe was an attempt to shrink the political space, the PDP leadership, supporters, and members stood their ground and remained vigilant, ensuring that the convention was not aborted.

“In a democracy, these are troubling signs that should concern every citizen. Any attempt to restrict legitimate political activities undermines democratic values and raises serious questions about the country’s commitment to free, fair, and open political participation.

“Nigerians must remain vigilant in defending democratic space and constitutional freedoms.”
