Police rescue kidnapped man in Adamawa
The Adamawa State Police Command on Saturday rescued a man kidnapped the previous day, Friday, June 26.
According to the Command, “On June 27, 2026, a combined team of Police operatives attached to Song Divisional Police Headquarters and local hunters successfully rescued a kidnapped victim, Alhaji Rabe Suleiman, a resident of Roma Village, Suktu District, Song Local Government Area.”
The Command, in a statement circulated on Saturday, added that the victim was abducted in the early hours of June 26, 2026, after which, acting on credible intelligence, the joint security team traced the kidnappers’ hideout around the Morogma Mountains, where they engaged the armed criminals in a gun duel.
The statement, signed by the Adamawa State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, added, “Overpowered by the superior firepower and tactical response of the security team, the kidnappers fled into the surrounding mountains with suspected bullet wounds, abandoning the victim who was rescued unhurt.”
Items recovered at the scene, according to the statement, include one Beretta pistol, one live round of Beretta ammunition, one torchlight, one small bag, suspected charms and food items.
“The rescued victim was taken to a medical facility for examination and has since been reunited with his family,” the police stated.

Middle aged man clubbed to death over attempted robbery in Calabar
An unidentified young man was yesterday beaten to death on Ikom Street in Calabar for breaking into a house in the early hours of Friday, attempting to rob a woman and other occupants.
The man was also reported to have attempted to have forceful carnal knowledge of the woman but she resisted.
Her scream alerted neighbors in the next apartment, who joined in raising the alarm.
This incident occurred at about 4.00 am, according to eyewitnesses
Residents of the area stopped the the man from escaping and overpowered him.
The suspect was reportedly dragged to the main Ikom Street, where he was initially detained by the angry residents.
Following his confession, he was beaten to stupor, according to an eyewitness.
“We wanted to wait for arrival of policemen but the suspect wanted to escape. This was why the angry neighbours descended on him with clubs, planks, irons mercilessly. He later he died,” the eyewitness said.
Police spokesman in the state, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, said he would issue an official statement on the incident, adding that operatives are investigating the attempted robbery.

Troops rescue six kidnapped victims in Sokoto
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims during an operation in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The development was disclosed by security analyst Bakatsine in a post shared on X on Saturday.
According to Bakatsine, the rescue took place on Thursday.
“On Thursday, troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, rescued six kidnapped victims in Sokoto State after intercepting three terrorists on motorcycles in Sabon Birni LGA. The terrorists, who were transporting the captives from Kure village, abandoned them and fled upon sighting the troops,” the post read.
The rescued victims were identified as Usman, 24; Baba Usman, 56; Hassan, 22; Sunusi, 23; Abdullahi Yahaya, 28; and Sule, 15.
Bakatsine commended the troops for their efforts in the fight against terrorism.
“Kudos to the troops for their courage, professionalism and sustained efforts in the fight against terrorism,” he added.
