Real Madrid ‘Enter Race’ to Sign Arsenal Winger Target Diomande
Real Madrid are said to be ramping up their efforts to sign a player Arsenal have enquired about this summer. The Gunners are not hiding their pursuit of a left-winger this summer, with Mikel Arteta desperate to finally address the left side of his attack, which has been the weakest side for some time, even if Leandro Trossard did play an important role there last season.
Arsenal are willing to spend big money on a new left winger, but they must also balance their search with their pursuit of a new number 8, with Arteta keen to add to his midfield. But top players are not easy to sign, and that has so far proved the case for the Gunners this summer, with Chelsea snatching Morgan Rogers from their grasp, and the search goes on.
Arsenal have reached out to Yan Diomande
Speaking last week, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reported that Arsenal had reached out to winger Yan Diomande over a potential move for the RB Leipzig and Ivory Coast star. Romano said: “Then talking about the wingers’ market, we have to see how Arsenal will react – wingers and strikers – because this depends on opportunities. For example, just to give you some context, Arsenal over the last few days made some checks with the agents of Yan Diomande from Red Bull Leipzig to understand if there was still a chance to enter the deal.
“But don’t forget Diomande has an agreement on personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain, and Paris Saint-Germain are in negotiations with Leipzig. But, for example, Arsenal made some calls to understand the situation of Diomande, just to give you context of what happened over the recent days.”
Diomande’s profile raised even further during the World Cup, when he impressed with Ivory Coast, and many expect the 19-year-old to be the next winger superstar, already climbing towards the top level at his young age.
Leipzig chief Marcel Schafer has said of the winger: “He’s a left winger with outstanding pace, strong dribbling, athleticism and a real eye for goal. On top of that, he never gives up on a ball and plays with great team spirit.”
Real Madrid make their move for Diomande
While DIomande is said to have agreed to join PSG, Real Madrid are now said to be making a move, with David Ornstein reporting on X: “EXCL: Real Madrid enter race to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig. #RMFC in club-to-club talks with #RBLeipzig over winger. Paris Saint-Germain retain interest + 19yo chose #PSG as next destination but not yet at level of finance required.”
Romano followed that update up with another claim of Arsenal interest, but Diomande is not keen to make the move to the Premier League. “Manchester City and Arsenal made calls for Yan Diomande over last 10 days but player’s not opening doors,” Romano posted. “No bids from PL + only club going all in to face PSG is Real Madrid with first €90m plus €10m bid rejected by RB Leipzig.”
Arsenal look to be out of the race, but they are said to be interested in Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr, so Los Blancos signing Diomande could help.

Liverpool Hold Bradley Barcola Transfer Talks After PSG Make Big Decision
Liverpool have held preliminary talks over a move to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, GIVEMESPORT understands.
Barcola is emerging as one of Liverpool‘s top targets as they seek another new winger following the arrival of Víctor Muñoz.
Barcola has communicated to PSG he has no plans to sign a new deal, and with his existing terms only running until 2028, an exit is now being explored by the player. PSG were aware of Barcola’s stance before the World Cup.
PSG Sale Possible for £145m-Rated Barcola
PSG value Barcola around €170m, and are using the sales of Elliot Anderson (£116m) to Manchester City and Morgan Rogers (£117m) to Chelsea as valuation yardsticks.
However, PSG’s project is built on only keeping players who wish to stay, and never guaranteeing anyone a starting spot. That means prospective buyers will know a sale is possible in the coming weeks.
Barcola is seeking more minutes off the back of an impressive World Cup with France in which he scored three goals and got one assist.
PSG believe his performances for France only further raised his value, while the fact he has won back-to-back Champions League titles also informs the €170m number, as does the fact Barcola is only 23.
GMS understands that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Luis Campos will both handle any exit talks.

Barcola Exit Talks Could Now Progress
Liverpool value Barcola at less than €170m, while the player will seek to depart for a lower number.
Arsenal also appreciate Barcola, but are yet to approach PSG or begin any formal talks with the player.
Arsenal’s focus is on determining whether Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior is genuinely available, while Julian Alvarez is another target if Atletico Madrid decide to soften their not-for-sale stance. Bournemouth’s French forward Eli Junior Kroupi is another name Arsenal have discussed.
Liverpool are currently the most serious suitor for Barcola and now the French winger has decided he won’t extend at the Parc des Princes, talks could start to progress.
Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Chelsea winger Pedro Neto, but GMS understands there has been no movement to sign the Portugal international as it stands.

Leeds United’s Lucas Perri Scheduled for Medical with New Club
Leeds United are said to be closing in on another exit as they work to land a club-record deal. The Whites are preparing to spark their summer transfer window to life in a major way having snapped up Harry Wilson early on, while Tarik Muharemovic was brought in to replace Pascal Struijk, who was sold to Brighton.
The Whites are now said to be working on a glamorous deal in the form of Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford, who is likely to cost between £45million and £50million, meaning it would be a club-record deal for the Whites.
Daniel Farke needs a new starting goalkeeper after Karl Darlow left the club, while Illan Meslier’s departure also created the need for more depth at the position, and another goalkeeper in Lucas Perri now looks likely to leave.
Lucas Perri ‘agrees’ to leave Leeds United
Leeds signed Lucas Perri for £13.9million last summer with the view to him becoming their number one, but that did not prove to be the case. The Brazilian had done well at Lyon, but he did not convince in his 16 Premier League appearances, and Darlow went on to become first-choice, providing a sturdy pair of hands.
Perri knows a return to being the club’s number one is not on the table, especially if Trafford arrives as a record signing, and he is now said to be preparing to leave Elland Road as a result, meaning he will have only spent a year with the Whites.
According to journalist Orazio Accomando, Torino have now agreed a deal to sign Perri, and the club has already scheduled the player’s medical. A fee has not been mentioned, but Leeds are expected to make at least most of their initial investment back on the 28-year-old.
What is interesting is that Leeds will now be left only with 33-year-old Alex Cairns in terms of goalkeepers, with Meslier and Darlow having left at the end of last season. A youngster or two is likely to be called upon through pre-season, and at least one will likely have to stick around for the Premier League campaign, while Farke will surely sign another goalkeeper as well as Trafford, or whoever the new number one ends up being.
Perri was once dubbed the ‘best in the world’
While Leeds’ signing of Perri now looks a little odd, and obviously unsuccessful, the Brazilian was once in world-beating form at Lyon, which is why the Whites made the move.
At the time, Lyon boss Paulo Fonseca said: “At the moment, the best goalkeeper in the world is my goalkeeper, Lucas Perri. He has been playing very well. Defensively, he is very good. Offensively, he has improved a lot in the way he helps the team with the ball at his feet. To play our way, we need a goalkeeper who participates offensively. We worked and analysed together what needed to be improved. Lucas is a very balanced person and understood the importance of his participation in the game. He has improved a lot in this aspect.”
Perri had a much tougher time at Leeds, and Farke even said after a defeat to Newcastle United: “In this moment I can’t protect him (Perri) from the criticism. He should have saved it.” Perri had better moments, notably when he slotted in for a game in April, but his stay won’t go down as a successful one.

Emmanuel Petit Sparks Uproar With Comments About Harry Kane After World Cup
Former Arsenal and France midfielder Emmanuel Petit has caused serious uproar with some eye-opening comments about Harry Kane following the World Cup. The Three Lions were yet again unable to bring football home this summer, extending their wait for a major honour to 60 years.
Thomas Tuchel’s side reached the semi-finals, but were dumped out of the competition in dramatic fashion by age-old rivals Argentina, who scored twice in the final 10 minutes to cancel out Anthony Gordon’s opener.
In the immediate fallout of more heartbreak, a lot of blame fell on the manager, who had retreated to ultra-defensive tactics when England had hold of the match. But some players have also been subject to some finger-pointing themselves as of late.
Emmanuel Petit’s Eye-Opening Assessment of Harry Kane’s World Cup
While there is a belief among England fans that the team relied too heavily on the star quality of Jude Bellingham and Kane, thus prompting a concern that the team as a whole didn’t have what it takes to win trophies, Petit’s opinion on the latter is bound to cause a huge stir. He said, as per GOAL:
“Harry Kane’s Ballon d’Or chances are over. He scored plenty of goals and based on the Bundesliga alone, you could make a case, but in the Champions League and for England, I thought he disappeared when the biggest games came. For me, there are several players ahead of him.”
In a World Cup year, the Ballon d’Or mantle often gets awarded to a winning player. But with Spain lacking out-and-out superstars, the race to be named the best player in the world has never been so wide open.
Indeed, Lamine Yamal is considered the long-term heir to Lionel Messi’s throne at Barcelona. However, the teenage sensation was nowhere near his usual best this summer, while Player of the Tournament Rodri spent all season trying to fire up his engine with Manchester City as he showed signs of struggling following recovering from an ACL injury.
Harry Kane’s Incredible 2025/27 Season Deserved More
Kane enjoyed arguably the finest season of his career. Across all competitions, the talisman scored 61 goals in 51 appearances, including 36 in the Bundesliga alone to finish as the division’s top scorer, alongside 14 in the Champions League, 10 in the DFB-Pokal, and one more in the Supercup, helping Bayern to a domestic treble.

That prolific campaign was nonetheless overshadowed by continued disappointment in Europe’s premier competition, with Bayern being eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final, as the French side went on to retain their title against Arsenal in the final.
His summer with England followed a similarly bittersweet pattern, with the captain scoring six goals in seven appearances at the World Cup, yet unable to prevent a 2-1 semi-final defeat to Argentina that left England to settle for third place after beating France.
