Yobe Police arrest man, recover 19 suspected stolen cattle
Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man and recovered 19 cattle suspected to have been stolen in Bursari Local Government Area.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, indicating that operatives of the Garin Alkali Divisional Police Headquarters intercepted the suspect while acting on credible intelligence last Thursday.
According to the statement, the suspect, identified as Umar Sanda of Lafiya Fulani Settlement, via Azare, Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State, was intercepted at the outskirts of Dumburi Village, Masaba Ward, Bursari LGA, with the livestock under circumstances suggesting that the animals were stolen.
“During preliminary interrogation, the suspect claimed the cattle belonged to his brother, who resides at the same address,” the Command said.
However, the police said the suspect could not provide satisfactory details to prove ownership or lawful possession of the animals.
“Consequently, the suspect was taken into custody, while the nineteen cattle were secured as comprehensive investigation has commenced to establish the true ownership of the livestock and determine whether the offence of cattle rustling or any other related crime was committed,” it said.
It was on this basis that the Commissioner of Police, Usman Kanfani Jibrin, reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to combating cattle rustling and all forms of criminality in the state.
He urged livestock owners and members of the public to support the police by providing timely and credible information that will aid the prevention and detection of crime.

Police arrest 28yr old suspected armed robber in Delta, recover guns, ammunition
Operatives of the Ebrumede Division in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State in a stop-and-search duty have arrested a 28-year-old suspected armed robber, Benjamin Haruna, while two of his accomplices, identified as Omelo and Alabanco escaped from the crime scene along Garki,Uti road in Effurun.
The Police also recovered from the suspect, who was arrested on August 4th, two locally made double-barrel guns, eleven live cartridges, one expended cartridge, one axe, two Android phones, two power banks, two wristwatches, one lighter, and one camouflage military polo.

He said, “On 4 August 2026, operatives of the Ebrumede Division, while on intensive stop-and-search duty along Garki-Uti Road, Effurun, intercepted three suspected armed robbers.”
Edafe explained that,”During the operation, Benjamin Haruna (28) was arrested, while two other suspects identified as Omelo and Alabanco escaped on a motorcycle.”
According to the Police Image maker, “A search of a bag in the possession of the suspects led to the recovery of two locally made double-barrel guns, eleven live cartridges, one expended cartridge, one axe, two Android phones, two power banks, two wristwatches, one lighter, and one camouflage military polo.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects were transporting the exhibits to their hideout along Sapele Road.”
SP Edafe noted that, “The arrested suspect remains in custody, while a coordinated manhunt is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.”

Police foil kidnap plot, arrest suspect in Delta
Operatives of “A” Division, Ughelli in Delta State have foiled a kidnap plot agaiunst a pastor and retired school principal in Ughelli and arrested the suspects involved in the alleged plot.
The Police also recovered one single-barrel gun and two live cartridges from the suspects.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe confirmed the report in a statement sent in Warri.
He said, “On 31 July 2026, operatives of ‘A’ Division, Ughelli, while acting on credible intelligence,, foiled a planned kidnapping following information that Jeremiah Kwane (26) had allegedly attempted to recruit an individual into a kidnapping syndicate with a view to abducting a pastor and retired school principal in Ughelli.”
SP Edafe so said, “The intelligence was immediately acted upon, leading to the arrest of the suspect at his duty post in Ughelli.”
According to him, “A search conducted during the operation led to the recovery of one single-barrel gun and two live cartridges. The suspect is undergoing further investigation.”
Meanwhile, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi has reaffirmed the command’s resolve to relentlessly pursue kidnappers, armed robbers and other violent criminals, while urging residents to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information to enhance the safety and security of all.

Lifeless bodies of three children discovered in home of female native doctor in Anambra
The lifeless bodies of three children have been discovered in the home of a female native doctor also known as Ezenwanyi in Ideani community, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The incident has sent shock over indigenes of the community, a source has revealed to DAILY POST.
The bodies of the three children were discovered at the ‘Ezenwayi’s’ place at Umuoduba village, Ideani.
A fourth person found at her premises was discovered alive and had been taken to hospital.
The children whose ages were given as between 6-15 years have, however, not been identified, nor the circumstances of their death ascertained, but sources from the community said the children were either workers of the female native doctor as she rears pigs and birds, or her own children.
The woman is said to have been arrested and currently is in custody at the Ogidi Police Division for investigation. The deceased children were taken to the mortuary. The fourth person was taken to the hospital for medical attention, it was learnt.
As of the time of filing this report, the Anambra State Police command is yet to make a release about the incident nor disclose the identity of the woman.
A video seen on social media, however, showed police officers visiting the home of the suspect after the discovery of the bodies while the woman was seen being taken away.
