Conor McGregor name-dropped two UFC legends after undergoing successful surgery following his devastating knee injury at UFC 329.
McGregor made his anticipated UFC comeback at last month’s UFC 329 in Las Vegas, where he faced off against former foe Max Holloway in a welterweight contest.
He was making his first appearance since 2021 when he sustained a broken leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.
And his UFC return ended in similar fashion as he suffered a nasty knee injury just seconds into his rematch against Holloway after attempting a flying switch kick.

McGregor lasted just 69 seconds against Holloway, who secured a first-round victory, exacting revenge following his defeat in their 2013 featherweight bout.
Despite sustaining another long-term injury, McGregor remains upbeat, hailing his mindset as ‘unstoppable’.
In doing so, he paid tribute to ex-UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and former two-weight UFC title holder Georges St-Pierre, who both suffered serious knee injuries during their respective MMA careers.
In a video uploaded on social media, the 38-year-old says: “My knee is repaired. Surgery was a success, and I am on the road to recovery. That should tell you everything you need to know about my mindset.
“I want to give a shout out to Dominick Cruz, who returned from multiple ACLs to recapture his bantamweight crown. Georges St-Pierre, multiple ACLs… he’s doing backflips and movement is still stellar.”
McGregor also mentioned Tom Brady, adding: “Other notables in other sports — the NFL, Tom Brady’s done it. These are my motivation here, especially the fighting boys.
“Unstoppable, baby. My mindset unstoppable, unbreakable.”

Cruz underwent multiple ACL surgeries to fix his knee issue and made a triumphant return to the UFC during his legendary MMA career.
After almost three years away from the Octagon, Cruz, who had to vacate his UFC bantamweight title due to recurring injuries, annihilated Takeya Mizugaki before reclaiming the 135lbs strap against TJ Dillashaw.
Having gone through a similar ordeal as McGregor, Cruz is backing the ‘Notorious’ to return to action once again.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, he said: “I think he definitely will be back because of the injury and because he got that taste and feeling of showing up. Everybody doubts him right now, and a lot of people are upset. You get both sides — the people who are p*ssed and people on his side, saying, ‘Get it done. Yay’.
“Everybody wants a comeback story. So no matter what anybody says, they’re going to watch.”
Son of Scott Steiner and cousin of WWE Superstar Bron Breakker may have just seen his brief NFL career come to an end.
Brock Rechsteiner is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Rechsteiner, who is more famously known as ‘Big Poppa Pump’ Scott Steiner.
Steiner is not the only famous wrestler in the family, with Rechsteiner also being cousins with current WWE Raw Superstar Bron Breakker.
Brock played wide receiver for the Jacksonville State Gamecocks until 2025 and went unselected in the NFL draft, but the Tennessee Titans picked him up as an undrafted free agent. However, he was later invited to the New Orleans Saints’ rookie minicamp, where he signed as an undrafted rookie in May.
Brock Rechsteiner Hit With Shock NFL Suspension
Unfortunately, his chances of making the team’s 53-man roster for the upcoming season took a blow after he received the news that he would be suspended for the first six games of the campaign.
News of his suspension was announced by the league on the personnel notice for Thursday but no reason was given for the suspension.
According to ESPN Senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, Rechsteiner is eligible to participate in all preseason activities, including games, and his suspension will take effect when rosters are reduced to 53 players. Until now, the 23-year-old has been competing for a spot on the Saints’ roster.
If Brock wasn’t already facing a tough battle to make the cut, news of his suspension may well have brought an end to his NFL dream. If that does end up being the case, though, Rechsteiner has a back-up plan.
Banned NFL Hopeful Plans to Join WWE
The 23-year-old has already expressed interest in following in his family’s footsteps and pursuing a career in the WWE later down the line. He and his brother Brandon even signed a WWE Next In Line (NIL) deal in February 2025.
“I want to pursue football as long as I can, play as long as I can, but once I’m done, I’ll get into wrestling, too,” Rechsteiner said of his future plans via WDSU-TV’s Sharief Ishaq.
Pro Football Talk has reported that news of his suspension ‘could mean the end of his NFL journey’ and his wrestling career may now become a reality a lot sooner than he had planned.
If he were to join WWE, Rechsteiner would be following in the footsteps of some very successful family members. His father is a WWE Hall of Famer, performing alongside Brock’s uncle, Rick, as the Steiner Brothers.
His cousin Bron is also enjoying a strong WWE career. He currently reigns as one half of the World Tag Team Champions alongside his Vision stablemate Austin Theory.

Manchester City have rejected a bid of around €45 million for midfielder Rodri from Barcelona, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.
GIVEMESPORT understands that Manchester City want in the region of €75 million in order to sanction an exit for Rodri, who has been a target for both Barcelona and Real Madrid this summer.
Real Madrid have now withdrawn from negotiations due to the fact that Rodri wants to join Barcelona before the end of the window.
Barcelona have already agreed personal terms with Rodri, and it’s now just about the two clubs coming to an agreement in terms of a transfer fee.
The La Liga giants are set to make a new offer and remain optimistic of being able to secure his signature this summer.

GMS understands a new offer is expected and that the clubs are not far apart in valuation.
Hamer has been with the Blades since 2023, joining the club from Coventry. A return could be on the cards if Lampard’s side are able to get to Sheffield United’s valuation.
