An All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain in Kebbi State, Adamu Yahaya, popularly known as Adam Fakai, has announced the withdrawal of his support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing what he described as a lack of recognition by party leaders.

Fakai made the announcement in a statement, saying he would no longer promote the activities and programmes of the Tinubu administration after spending more than two years publicising government projects and policies across the country.

According to him, he invested his personal resources, time and energy in promoting the administration because he believed in Tinubu’s leadership and development agenda but received no encouragement or support from APC leaders at either the state or federal level.

He alleged that some prominent political figures had used photographs and videos of Federal Government projects he documented without acknowledging or contacting him.

Fakai said the perceived lack of appreciation informed his decision to discontinue promoting the administration, adding that he believed he might have received greater support if he were from another state.

Despite his decision, he expressed appreciation to individuals who supported and encouraged him during the period.

Fakai became known on social media for visiting major Federal Government projects across the country and publishing photographs, videos and reports highlighting the Tinubu administration’s infrastructure and development initiatives.

The Allied People’s Movement has advised President Bola Tinubu to resign or withdraw from the presidential race if he has no solutions to worsening economic and security challenges confronting Nigeria.

A statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, the party condemned what it described as attacks by the presidency on the Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja Catholic Diocese, John Cardinal Onaiyekan.

According to the opposition, the criticism directed at the respected Catholic cleric over his comments on the country’s economic situation reflected intolerance of dissent and an unwillingness by the Federal Government to address the concerns of ordinary Nigerians.

The APM described the attacks on Onaiyekan as unacceptable, stressing that religious leaders should be respected for speaking on issues affecting the nation.

“Since President Tinubu has demonstrated through his reliance on excuses that he has no solutions, he should withdraw from the presidential race and allow younger hands with workable solutions to manage the affairs of our nation.

“The Allied People’s Movement strongly condemns the presidency’s attack on the Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, over his comments regarding the country’s worsening economic situation under President Bola Tinubu’s administration,” the statement partly read.

The party further stated that rather than engaging with concerns raised by respected citizens and faith leaders, the government had chosen to resort to personal attacks.

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known by his stage name Davido, has lambasted Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential media aide, over his remarks on the Osun State governorship election.

DAILY POST reports that the exchange began after Davido took to X on Thursday to celebrate President Bola Tinubu’s telephone conversation with Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

In the post, Davido said he was present during the phone conversation, adding that he “witnessed history.”

Reacting to the post, Bashir Ahmad said he was bookmarking Davido’s post, expressing confidence that the singer would return to X to lament the outcome of the August 15 governorship election.

“This tweet is bookmarked. It will serve as a reference for future events. I know you will come back here to lament if the August 15 results don’t go your way,” Bashir wrote.

However, Davido responded with another remark, mocking Bashir’s performance in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election.

“You got 16 votes, bro, in the primaries. STFU,” the singer wrote.

In another post, Davido accused the former aide of failing to change the lives of people in his community despite serving for eight years in the administration of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

“You measure success by one award. I measure it by sold-out arenas, billions of streams, global influence, and people singing my songs across continents.

“You had government backing and still couldn’t convince enough people to back you in your small constituency. You’re a small boy who came into politics by accident.

“You spent 8yrs with the ex-president and couldn’t make a change in your poverty-stricken community.

“We all have different trophies, Bashir. I’ll keep inspiring the young ones and generations to come while you wait for the next government job to get crumbs,” Davido wrote.
