Rhea Ripley Reveals Latest Injury Update Amid Ongoing WWE Absence
Rhea Ripley has issued a fresh update on social media after undergoing surgery on her knee amid her absence from the WWE.
Ripley is the reigning WWE Women’s Champion and one of the biggest names on the SmackDown roster.
But she hasn’t been in action since June when she suffered a knee injury during a WWE live event in Lisbon, Portugal, where she teamed up with Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton. The injury resulted in a meniscus tear that required surgery, keeping her on the sidelines.
Ripley subsequently missed WWE Night of Champions last month and last weekend’s SummerSlam. After failing to return for the promotion’s latest premium live event in Minnesota, the Australian has issued an update on her recovery.
Rhea Ripley Reveals Latest Injury Update After Surgery
Ripley took to social media to announce that she underwent surgery to repair her knee. She revealed that going under the knife was never the first option but admits it was required in this case.
She didn’t clarify as to when she would return to the ring but told her fans, ‘see you down the road’.
The 29-year-old shared an image of her leg in a brace, writing: “Life update. After just under 14 year in wrestling and doing sports my entire life… It’s caught up to me. Surgery was never a first option for me, but it got to the point that it was needed…
“First one down… hopefully no more… I’ve survived, now it’s time to start thriving again so I can get back to what I love to do! See you all down the road.”
WWE Crowned An Interim Women’s Champion at SummerSlam
In Ripley’s absence, WWE crowned an interim Women’s Champion on night two of SummerSlam.
Chelsea Green, Jade Cargill, Lash Legend, Flair and Stratton competed in a five-way ladder match, with Green emerging victorious, setting up a unification bout against Ripley.
On facing Ripley, the Canadian wrestler told Complex Graps: “Look, I said this during the ladder match and I’ll say it again. This is a win-win for me. Because at the end of the day, I was surrounded in that ladder match by… women who had won a bunch of titles.
“And I was out here just scratching and clawing for my life. It’s the same thing with Rhea. Like, she has something to lose, I don’t. I’m just out here trying to do my best. I’m just out here trying to make a moment with this title. She has won multiple championships. She has the company on her back. I’m out here trying to get all these things.
“So if I lose, I lose to quite possibly the greatest female wrestler ever. If she loses to me, she lost to a comedy gal. She lost to the girl from Unreal, she lost to an indie wrestler, she lost to the underdog. And I love that for me. I’m going to go into it, and I’m just going to do my best. That’s all I can do, you know? But I’m going to need a couple of energy drinks before I have to face her. That’s for sure.”

Tottenham Star Djed Spence Wants to Join Liverpool Alongside Barcola
Tottenham Hotspur star Djed Spence wants to join Liverpool this summer as Andoni Iraola considers a move for the right-back.
Spurs have had a busy summer transfer window so far with six new arrivals, including defenders Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Jan Paul van Hecke, while Pedro Porro has also signed a new long-term contract with the north London side.
That has seen Spence’s future called into question, and Liverpool are understood to be exploring additions to their defence for their new manager, having lost Robertson and Ibrahima Konate on free transfers, and with Jeremy Jacquet, Giovanni Leoni, Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley all dealing with injury issues.

Spence Wants Anfield Move
According to a report by Anfield Sector, Liverpool have an interest in the England international as Iraola has defensive concerns around his current right-back options.
Spence is believed to be extremely receptive to the idea of a move to Liverpool, but the Reds are also considering a host of other names for their defence, as they look to add to their squad in the final weeks of the window.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a fine individual season in 2025/26 for Tottenham as he helped them to avoid relegation, before shining at the World Cup for England as the Three Lions finished third, with Spence one of the standout performers.
Liverpool are currently prioritising strengthening their attack, with PSG star Bradley Barcola understood to be the top target. GIVEMESPORT sources understand that initial talks have been held over a deal, and the winger has already given his green light to a switch to Anfield, although no deal has been agreed at this stage.
The Reds are also eyeing a move for Ibrahim Mbaye, Barcola’s PSG teammate, and have moved ahead of Bayer Leverkusen in the race for his signature. Victor Munoz has already joined from Osasuna, but is the only first-team signing of this window, not including Jeremy Jacquet, who agreed his move in January.

‘Frightening’ Spence Perfect for Liverpool
With Liverpool have some issues at full-back, Spence’s ability to play on both sides at a high level would be a huge boost for the club. Spurs are understood to be open to letting him leave for around £35m, which makes a deal relatively easy to do.
Spence’s rise to prominence has been very impressive, and even saw him earn praise from England legend David Seaman.
“He’s got better and better,” said Seaman on his YouTube podcast.
“When I first saw him, when he first came in… he was a bit like when Kolo Toure came to Arsenal. He was like the schoolboy in the playground, just followed the ball everywhere, and Djed was getting like caught out of position quite a bit, but now he’s like (much better).
“The more he’s playing in that position (left-back) he’s getting used to it, and his pace is frightening – he had a one-v-one with somebody and like totally outpaced them, easy.”
While Liverpool’s interest is well reported, Fabrizio Romano has told GIVEMESPORT’s Market Madness podcast that he hasn’t heard of anything between the two parties at this stage.

Newcastle ‘Considering Move’ For Chelsea Star as Howe Verdict Resurfaces
Ben Jacobs has named Newcastle United as one of three Premier League clubs considering making a move for Chelsea striker Liam Delap.
The English frontman had been on the Magpies’ radar last summer but opted to head to Stamford Bridge from Ipswich Town. The Blues triggered the £30 million release clause in his contract to sign a player who had been tipped to become the next Harry Kane.
Delap has failed to live up to expectations in West London, managing one goal in 28 league outings last season. As such, Xabi Alonso appears to be prepared to sell the 23-year-old this summer.
Newcastle are preparing for a new era at St James’ Park following the appointment of Matthias Jaissle as Eddie Howe’s replacement. The German coach is tasked with dealing with three high-profile exits as Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon have all departed.
Liam Delap Back on Newcastle’s Radar
While Newcastle will inevitably need to address their midfield and replace Guimaraes, they could be looking to bolster their frontline. A 12th-placed finish last season came amidst new signings Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa’s struggles in front of goal.
According to Jacobs, the Tyneside outfit are weighing up a move for Delap although they could face competition from two Premier League rivals. GIVEMESPORT’s senior football correspondent wrote on X:
“Everton, Newcastle and Leeds currently the ones considering a move. If (Man United) revisit will be sure to let you know.”
Chelsea may be looking to offload Delap as Joao Pedro seems certain to be Alonso’s starting striker in the upcoming season. The Blues have also signed Dutch frontman Emmanuel Emegha from Strasbourg and he is likely to play second fiddle to Pedro.
Newcastle transfer targets:
While there’s no mention of how much the west London outfit are demanding for Delap, they have a habit of making a profit on players who underperform. Newcastle’s decision-makers will no doubt be factoring in his disastrous debut season should they step up their interest and look to negotiate a deal.

St James’ Park is Ideal Destination For Delap
Delap may be eager to put his Stamford Bridge nightmare behind him and get his career back on track and a move to St James’ Park will be extremely appealing. There is a golden opportunity for the Englishman to make the number nine starting berth his own if he can rediscover his Ipswich form.
A torrid spell at Chelsea tarnished his reputation, and before he made that move he was one of the most exciting forwards in English football. He bagged 12 goals in 37 league games for the Tractor Boys, and his impressive exploits didn’t go unnoticed by Newcastle’s higher-ups.
Howe had also taken a liking to Delap and made that clear during a press conference ahead of meeting Delap and Ipswich back in the 2024-25 campaign:
“He’s a pivotal player for them. There is no denying that. He’s had a very good season. He’s got big strengths. Very strong, powerful runner. Knows where the goal is. He’s had a really good season. He’s always had a lot of potential. You could see from the very early times we’ve played against him previously what a threat he can be.”

Delap would likely be battling it out with Woltemade to lead the line in Jaissle’s attack. The German striker could be the biggest benefactor of his fellow countryman’s arrival, but he definitely has to improve on the goalscoring front.

Tyler Adams Wants to Join Man Utd in £50m Transfer
Bournemouth star Tyler Adams would be keen on a move to join Manchester United this summer, but a deal could cost up to £50m, according to Ben Jacobs.
The Cherries have battled hard all summer to keep hold of their top stars while adding Antonio Silva, Juanlu Sanchez, and Alvaro Rodriguez to the squad for new manager Marco Rose, but have faced strong interest in several of their stars, including Alex Scott, Eli Junior Kroupi, and Rayan.
Man Utd have been linked with several players this summer after prioritising a rebuild for new boss Michael Carrick, with the midfield understood to be at the top of their list. Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos have already arrived, but the club wants another, which has seen them revisit their long-standing interest in Adams.
Adams Keen on Man Utd Move
Adams joined Bournemouth from Leeds United in 2023 on a five-year deal, and has been a regular under former boss Andoni Iraola, establishing himself as a top-level defensive midfielder.
He also shone at the World Cup for the USMNT under Mauricio Pochettino, and Man Utd are understood to have considered a bid for the 27-year-old as they look to replace Casemiro and cover for Manuel Ugarte after he suffered a serious knee injury.
Reports had suggested that Adams could be available for as little as £35m, but GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Jacobs, speaking on The United Stand, has revealed that while the player would be open to moving to Old Trafford, it would cost more than that to get a deal done.
“The player would be keen on a move to Manchester United, though, but my information is that although Adams is not unsellable, that number would probably be closer to the £50m mark rather than in and around the £35m, which has found its way out into the media,” he said.
Adams has made 58 appearances over the last two seasons for Bournemouth, scoring twice, putting a history of injury issues behind him.

‘Every Team Needs a Tyler Adams’
Adams has become a fan favourite during his time at Bournemouth for his combative style and leadership qualities, and he earned the praise of club legend and ambassador Steven Fletcher earlier this year, who stated that ‘every team needs a Tyler Adams’, and hailed him for his ‘incredible’ football brain.
“Like I say, his knowledge is second to none. His attitude towards everything is brilliant. I just think he’s a top, top bloke. I’ve said that a lot of times. And I said it to his face, I think he’s a really, really superb lad, and every team needs a Tyler Adams.”
“His knowledge is incredible. The way he speaks. He’s meticulous. He thinks about what he says, and he’s very good with words.
“And I just think he’s fantastic. And like I said, He’s not only a great ambassador for AFC Bournemouth, but I think for America as well, because the way he portrays himself is second to none.”
