Andy Burnham became the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister in July 2026, entering Number 10 as one of the most football-loving leaders the country has had.

Unusually for a PM, the former Mayor of Greater Manchester has been happy to talk about his sporting allegiances at length, including in a recent exclusive interview with GiveMeSport.

So which club does the Prime Minister actually support?

The answer is Everton. Burnham is a lifelong, season-ticket-holding Toffees supporter, and when it comes to the national side, he is a passionate England fan as well.

His allegiance to Everton was, by his own account, never really a choice. Speaking to GiveMeSport, he explained that both sides of his family were ‘Blues’, and that he was an Evertonian before he could walk — supporting the club all the way back.

It is a family inheritance rather than a glory-hunting pick, which is part of why it has endured through decades in and out of the political spotlight. Such devotion was on full display in his GiveMeSport exclusive, where the Prime Minister made a direct and rather specific plea to the club ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League season: sign a right-back.

He also backed manager David Moyes to move the club forward, expressed hope that Jack Grealish would stay beyond his impressive loan spell, and welcomed the new ownership and the atmosphere at Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

In a quick-fire round, he predicted a seventh-place finish for Everton and tipped Manchester City to win the title.

Burnham’s connection to football runs deeper than fandom. He was at the other FA Cup semi-final on the day of the Hillsborough disaster in April 1989, and campaigning for justice for 97 victims became, in his words, the most instrumental moment of his political journey.

Yes, and his second sporting love is rugby league. Burnham is a devoted supporter of Super League side Leigh Leopards, a bond rooted in his years representing the town of Leigh as its Member of Parliament. He has previously served as president of the Rugby Football League, giving him a formal history in the sport as well as a fan attachment.

Watching Leigh play at Everton’s stadium during Super League’s Magic Weekend, he described the two clubs as the two greatest loves of his sporting life — a unique moment for someone whose heart is split between a Merseyside football giant and a Lancashire rugby league town.

He has also pledged to champion rugby league in his new role, promising to back the sport “from the highest office” and pushing for greater investment in its grassroots.

Between Everton, England and Leigh Leopards, Burnham arrives in Number 10 with sporting loyalties that are firmly northern and, rare for a politician, entirely consistent with the causes he has backed throughout his career.

PGA Tour star Sam Burns has revealed that he played golf with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and he chose two words to describe him on the course.

Trump is roughly one-and-a-half years into his second presidential term in the White House, and is known for being a huge golfing fan and an enthusiastic player.

The president is such a well-known golfing fan that he often gets accused of spending more time and effort on the golf course than on his duty of being the leader of the United States.

Trump also owns numerous golf courses across the globe, including 11 in America, three in Scotland, one in Ireland, one in the UAE, and three across Asia and the Middle East.

It was, in fact, at one of his own courses that he most recently won a competition as he was crowned the winner of the Bedminster Club Championship at the Trump National course in New Jersey.

Following his triumph in New Jersey, Trump took to social media and wrote: “I won with a score of 70, and am so honoured in that, unlike the rest of the field, I’m given very little time to practice, because I’m focused on many other things. It’s called TALENT, and I have it, and they don’t!”

Despite his claimed victory with a score of 70, Trump has been the subject of cheating allegations from golfing fans worldwide. One fan wrote: “Watched him live for years, listened to his caddies stories. Everyone around him allows him to cheat out of fear. Nothing he does is genuine. All his ‘feats’ are fake, and he actually feels special.”

Some footage has been revealed of Trump during the recent competition, but it has raised further questions amongst fans, with responses to the video saying: “Lol 100% that golf ball is remote controlled! Those bounces are not normal.”

While another fan suggested: “That ball had a string 🙂 or front brakes.”

Despite the accusations of cheating on the golf course towards the president, Trump is often seen playing with other famous faces and celebrities, with none of them claiming that Trump ‘cheats’ during the rounds.

American golfer and PGA Tour star Sam Burns has had the honour of playing golf alongside the president, and he once opened up about his game with the now 81-year-old.

Burns revealed that while playing, Trump is “brutally honest”, somewhat denying all allegations that his recent victory in New Jersey was due to subtle cheating and unsportsmanlike behaviour.

“People ask, ‘What’s he like?’ He’s exactly how you’d think he would be,” Burns recalled. “He’s exactly what you see on TV: brutally honest. He’s very open; you can pretty much ask him anything.

“And he loves golf. He has some really funny stories, so it’s pretty cool to listen to. I asked him some stuff. I wasn’t sure if he would answer or not, but he did.

“On any hole, there’s close to 20 carts. If you’re paying attention and looking, you’ll see snipers, Secret Service everywhere. It’s funny, [because] I don’t know if this is the safest place or the most dangerous place in the world to be. I think it’s kind of both at the same time.”

The president of the Norwegian Football Federation has hit back at one of the sport’s most controversial former administrators after being tipped as a potential successor to FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

Lise Klaveness Responds to Sepp Blatter’s Presidential Suggestion

71-cap former Norwegian international footballer Lise Klaveness was asked about the speculation after fronting a press conference to explain the NFF’s vote of no confidence in Infantino.

Sepp Blatter had posted on X shortly after the 2026 World Cup final, arguing the tournament had “lost its credibility,” and in a more recent post, the Swiss stated that the time had come for a woman to lead FIFA, naming Klaveness directly with the hashtag “#lise4president.”

Klaveness’s response leaned on history rather than flattery.

Despite multiple sources linking her name to the role, Klaveness insisted a bid is not something the NFF is discussing internally.

“The media speculate about many candidates, and that’s their job, but I don’t hear any internal discussions about genuine candidates,” she explained, adding that FIFA currently has “a sitting president,” with any succession conversation only following a resignation or election.

She also declined to speculate on whether UEFA chief Aleksander Ceferin could stand, insisting the debate should centre on governance rather than personalities, before confirming Norway no longer has confidence in Infantino, and that they will be requesting his resignation.

The comeback itself has gone down well with football fans, with many praising her willingness to call out Blatter despite his show of support. One fan suggested the timing said more about Blatter than Klaveness, arguing he is “clearly desperate to redeem his public image” and that the ongoing chaos with Infantino and FIFA has given him “a perfect opportunity” to do so. Others were more direct in their praise, with one calling it “such a gangster response” and another suggesting it was “even more reason for her to be president.”
