Agency recovers stolen solar-powered ICT equipment worth over ₦80 million in Kano

Operatives of the Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) have recovered stolen solar-powered ICT equipment valued at over ₦80 million after a burglary at Aisha Shehu Government Junior Secondary School, Kuka, in Fagge Local Government Area.

According to the Principal, Hajiya Rufa’atu Mahmud Baffa, the burglars broke into the school’s ICT room, removed the ceiling panels and solar installations, carting away computers and other ICT gadgets. However, luck ran out on them when KAROTA patrol officers discovered the stolen items during a routine night operation, forcing the culprits to abandon the equipment in fear.

Speaking on the incident, KAROTA Managing Director, Hon. Faisal Mahmud Kabir, commended his officers for their dedication and patriotic efforts. He confirmed that although the suspects escaped, all stolen items were fully recovered and handed back to the school authorities. He also stressed the need for strengthened security in schools benefiting from the World Bank-supported AGILE project, which has been equipping institutions in support of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s education revival initiative.

Kabir assured that KAROTA would continue to equip its personnel with the tools needed to protect lives and property while collaborating with other security agencies. He also urged the state government to enhance school security to prevent future occurrences. Reports indicated that the burglars had earlier tied up the school’s security guards before executing the crime.

Police arrest man, recover cut-to-size single barrel gun in Delta community

Operatives of the Ozoro Police Division in Isoko North, Delta State, have arrested a twenty-five year old suspect, Yakubu Musa during a routine township patrol along Alaka road in the Community. 

The Operatives recovered one cut-to-size single-barrel gun from the suspect who was arrested on 25 July 2026. 

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe confirmed the report in a statement in Warri. 

He said, “On 25 July 2026, operatives of Ozoro Division, while on routine township patrol along Alaka Road, Ozoro, intercepted one Yakubu Musa (m), 25, carrying roofing sheets suspected to have been stolen.

“During interrogation, the suspect failed to give a satisfactory account of the items in his possession, prompting further investigation.

“A subsequent search of his residence led to the recovery of one cut-to-size single-barrel gun.

“The suspect is in custody, while investigation is ongoing.”

Troops rescue kidnap victim, recover 126 rustled livestock in Katsina

Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, JTF NW OPFY, have rescued a kidnap victim and recovered 126 rustled livestock in Katsina State.

This is contained in a statement by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt-Col Aliyu Danja, on Tuesday.

According to the statement, troops also arrested suspects and recovered a locally fabricated weapon.

It said that in the early hours of 26 July 2026, troops, in conjunction with the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, troops responded to a distress call reporting terrorist activity at Karkata Village, Charanchi Local Government Area of the state.

The statement added that while advancing to the scene, the troops made contact with the terrorists and engaged them with superior firepower, forcing the criminals to abandon their kidnapped victim before fleeing into the surrounding bushes.

“The victim was rescued unharmed and reunited with her family. In a separate operation, troops of Sector 2, working alongside personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), conducted coordinated raids at Wagin, Tundu Mobi, and Chadawaki in Batsari Local Government Area.

“The operation led to the arrest of suspects and recovery of a locally fabricated weapon with five cartridges, among other exhibits. The suspects and recovered items have been handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation.

“Also, on 26 July 2026, troops acting on credible intelligence laid an ambush along a suspected terrorists’ crossing point at Yankwani Village, Bakori Local Government Area, engaging suspected terrorists attempting to move rustled livestock across the area.

“The terrorists fled under sustained pressure, abandoning 126 livestock comprising 83 cows and 43 sheeps. The recovered animals were handed over to the Chairman of the Peace Keeping Committee, Bakori, in the presence of local government officials, for identification and return to their rightful owners.

“The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, commends the gallantry and vigilance of the troops behind these successes and reassures the good people of Katsina State and the North West of the Command’s unwavering resolve to sustain offensive operations against terrorists in the region,” the statement said.

Police dismantle cattle theft syndicate in Ogun, recover 6 stolen cows

Operatives of the Sagamu Division of the Ogun State Police Command have dismantled a suspected cattle theft syndicate and recovered six stolen cows in Maskoli area of the local government.

The operation also led to the arrest of two suspects identified as Abiodun Kamilu, 35, and Adesanya Segun, 37.

Confirming the arrest to DAILY POST on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the operatives also
seized a blue Nissan Cabster bus believed to have served as the syndicate’s operational vehicle.

Babaseyi noted that the breakthrough followed a distress call received on Saturday, reporting that suspected cattle thieves invaded a cow yard in the Maskoli Area of Sagamu and stole seven cows.

Upon the report, the spokesperson stated that operatives were immediately mobilised and coordinated patrols around identified exit routes was commenced.

“Acting on credible information, the operatives intercepted suspicious vehicles along the Sagamu–Ijebu-Ode Expressway.

“Their swift intervention frustrated the criminal operation, leading to the arrest of the two suspects and the recovery of six of the seven stolen cows, as well as the operational vehicle abandoned during the failed escape,” Babaseyi added.

He assured that investigation was ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate, recover the remaining stolen cow, and ensure the prosecution of all those connected with the crime.
