Detectives of the Ifo Division, Ogun State Police Command, have arrested a fleeing trailer driver and four others over alleged conspiracy, stealing, and receiving stolen property.

The suspects are Temitope Odulaja, 47, driver of the truck, Segun Suleiman, 27, Haruna Olaogun, 49, Jimoh Wasiu, 42, and Quazzim Suleiman, 49.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Monday, said the breakthrough also led to the recovery of parts of the stolen trailer, and uncovered a suspected syndicate allegedly engaged in dismantling stolen trailers.

According to the Command, the case began with a complaint lodged at Ifo Divisional Headquarters by the owner of the trailer.

“He reported that his driver absconded with the vehicle on June 6, 2026, and all efforts to locate him proved abortive.

“Upon receipt of the complaint, detectives led by the DPO, CSP Olabisi Kamorudeen, commenced an intelligence-led investigation and deployed technical intelligence to track the suspect.

“On July 24, 2026, acting on credible intelligence, operatives traced the fleeing driver to Ikorodu, Lagos State, where Odulaja was arrested.

“The suspect reportedly provided useful information that advanced the investigation,” he stated.

Babaseyi noted that the trail led detectives to Ijebu-Ode on Saturday, where the four other suspects were arrested at different locations for their alleged roles in the criminal enterprise.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the stolen trailer was dismantled shortly after it was taken and its components unlawfully disposed of. Detectives have so far recovered parts of the trailer and taken photographs as exhibits,” he added.

The image maker disclosed that efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining parts, identify other members, and establish the full extent of the syndicate’s activities.

He assured residents that investigation is ongoing, and all persons found culpable at the conclusion of the investigation will be charged to court in accordance with the law.

Babaseyi also quoted the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, to have commended the detectives for their professionalism, describing the operation as a significant breakthrough against organized vehicle theft.

The CP urged transport operators, fleet owners, logistics companies, and members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, vehicles, and activities to the Police.

Bandits have kidnapped Kebbi State High Court judge, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza.

Justice Bunza was whisked away on Sunday at his home along Zogirma Road in Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi.

According to Daily Trust, the attack occurred after the judge returned from a trip to Sokoto.

“He had just returned from Sokoto when the gunmen stormed his residence and took him away,” a source said told Daily Trust.

The source added that, although nobody in the house was hurt, the attackers were shooting sporadically before moving away with him.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Kebbi State Command, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed the abduction.

Fear has gripped motorists and residents following renewed armed robbery attacks along the Nawfia axis of the Onitsha–Enugu Expressway, with one person reportedly killed in the latest incident.

A social media user raised the alarm in a post over what he described as the worsening insecurity on the busy highway, urging the Anambra State Government and security agencies to act before more lives are lost.

According to the source, residents of Nawfia community have repeatedly complained about the persistent activities of armed robbers who allegedly ambush motorists along the stretch of the expressway.

He recalled that, in a bid to curb the attacks, members of the community recently embarked on a massive environmental clean-up exercise.

“During the exercise, they cleared thick vegetation and removed logs allegedly used by the criminals to barricade sections of the road and trap unsuspecting travellers.

“Despite the community’s efforts, the robbers have continued to strike with what residents described as increasing boldness,” he said.

The latest attack, reportedly captured in a video circulating online, allegedly resulted in the death of one person, further heightening fears among road users.

The source called on security agencies to immediately intensify surveillance along the highway, deploy regular patrol teams, and dismantle criminal hideouts in the area.

He stressed that the Onitsha–Enugu Expressway is one of the busiest highways in the South-East and should not be left at the mercy of criminal elements.

Residents and commuters also appealed to the Anambra State Government, the police, the military, and other security agencies to take urgent and coordinated action to restore confidence and guarantee the safety of travellers using the route.

As of the time of filing this report, the  Anambra State Police Command had not issued a statement on the reported incident.
