‘You’ve no plans, lack understanding of governance – Presidency slams Peter Obi
President Bola Tinubu’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Engagement, Fredrick Nwabufo, has declared that the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi lacks the understanding of governance.
Nwabufo made the remark while criticizing Obi over his latest interview where he pledged to unite the country if elected president in 2027.
In a statement he signed, Nwabufo said: “Peter Obi’s interview shows him again to be vacant of deep thought, understanding of governance, and taken up by syrupy rhetoric. He still has no plan, no alternative, and no policy plank, beyond a mouthful of sentimental nothings.
“Obi’s claim: He claimed he would unite Nigeria, but failed to explain how beyond the tired refrain of his cooks and ADC being northerners.
“His utterances, actions, and those of his followers have but deepened the chasm.
“First, the mechanics of national cohesion/national unity are inclusive governance, economic integration, and equitable citizenship.
“Essentially, the balancing forces of national cohesion are governance and the economy. We cannot discuss ‘’national unity’’ in isolation from the levers of leadership and the material benefits of governance.
“Therefore, to strengthen national unity is to ensure that public resources are delivered to all citizens regardless of faith, ethnicity, or social standing and that the government is fair and just to all.
“This is where the administration of President Tinubu has achieved a sterling record. In applying the mechanics of national cohesion, the administration has ensured that the six geopolitical zones are equal beneficiaries of its programmes, initiatives, and projects, and indeed, all the accruals of governance.
“Inclusive governance is another gradient where President Tinubu has tipped the scales in national soldering.
“He appointed young professionals from diverse backgrounds at an unprecedented scale. For the first time in the evolution of Nigeria, young people are superintending strategic sectors of government.”

Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has told Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to start packing his belongings out of the Government House before it is too late.
MURIC noted that this is necessary due to the fact the people of the state have rejected him.
The organisation spoke in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Professor Isiaq Akintola on Monday.
Akintola alleged that the governor deceived the people of Osun State, noting that the recently commissioned flyover in Osogbo has been damaged just three weeks after its commissioning.
Akintola also stated that the governor turned his administration to a government of the people of Ede, his hometown.
He further condemned the governor for what he described as poor handling of local government affairs in the state.
“As preparations for the gubernatorial election in Osun on 15th August, 2026
enter top gear, we remind Governor Ademola Adeleke to start packing his dancing kits out of Oke-Fia Government House before it is too late.
”For the flyover damaged after three weeks, for the alleged ‘edenisation’ of governance, for alleged mishandling of local government affairs, alleged examination malpractice, etc, we can’t look away.
”Governor Adeleke has crossed the Rubicon. He will be roundly defeated in the coming gubernatorial election in Osun on 15th August, 2026. That will be his punishment for playing on the intelligence of Osun Muslims,” the statement said.

The Director, Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Sam Amadi, has faulted the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for closing the Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In an interview on Arise Television on Sunday, Amadi said voter registration should remain open until one month before the election.
According to him, INEC had made significant improvements, but it still operates with outdated processes.
“Closing voter registration nearly seven months before an election is unreasonable.
“It prevents many young Nigerians who turn 18 before Election Day from registering to vote, effectively denying them the opportunity to participate until the next election cycle,” he said.
Recall that INEC had reaffirmed that the ongoing CVR exercise would close on Sunday, July 26 (yesterday), urging eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the final opportunity to register or update their voter records.

President Bola Tinubu, on Sunday, received two chieftains of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Rufai Hanga and Kabiru Gaya.
Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau led the two delegations to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Both NDC chieftains from Kano State are reportedly set to officially defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC, next week.
It will be recalled that Senator Rufai Hanga lost the Kano Central Senatorial ticket and deputy governorship slot under the platform of the NDC.
He is reportedly dumping the NDC after not being considered for any position by the NDC vice presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Senator Gaya contested the Kano South NDC Senatorial seat but lost out after a consensus candidate emerged from Rabiu Kwankwaso’s camp.
Recall that the national chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, had met with the duo earlier.
