Rory McIlroy reacts to Ryder Cup win

Published

on

Rory McIlroy stood with a smile that said it all: Europe had held off the storm.

The Ryder Cup ended 15-13, but the scoreline hardly told the full story of a week in golf that began in a blaze of blue and ended in a surge of red. From day one, Europe established a grip on the contest, building a commanding lead that seemed to drown out even the most hostile chants from the New York galleries.

By Saturday night, the Americans looked battered, yet Sunday brought a revival — a charge that rattled nerves and momentarily made the impossible feel within reach. McIlroy, though, insisted that it wasn’t the crowd, nor the noise, that defined Europe’s response. Instead, he pointed to something deeper, a force that carried them through the turbulence and ensured that, when the final putt dropped, it was Europe raising the cup once again.

Rory McIlroy Reveals Europe’s Real Motivation to Lift Ryder Cup Again

Rory McIlroy

“I’m extremely proud to be a part of this team,” McIlroy said when on the 18th green, moments after his friend Shane Lowry sealed Europe’s retention of the Ryder Cup trophy. “I’m extremely proud of every single one of the players, the VCs, the captain, all the backroom and support staff. This was an unbelievable collective effort.”

Despite the crowd, there was a greater motivating force for McIlroy his Europe’s players. “As soon as we won in Rome we turned our attention to something everyone thought was pretty impossible. Not only winning in America, but winning in New York. It’s just been an amazing week.

“Honestly, to do something a lot of people thought we couldn’t do. The comments and what people were saying after Whistling Straits, about decades of American dominance. We took a lot from that, we let that fuel us.”

McIlroy hailed Luke Donald’s leadership, describing him as “absolutely amazing” and giving credit to the continuity from last year’s team. “Eleven of the 12 players from Rome came back. We knew what we needed to do,” he said. “We got so lucky in getting an incredible leader in Luke Donald, he shepherded us through this whole process.”

The four-time major winner closed with a promise: “We’re going to celebrate like there is no tomorrow.”

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Wedding Guest List ‘Leaked’ Amid Marriage Rumours

Published

Rumours that Cristiano Ronaldo is getting married this weekend may have been shut down, despite a leaked invitation appearing to confirm the date, but a wedding still appears to be on the horizon.

The Portugal and Al-Nassr forward got engaged to 32-year-old former Gucci sales assistant, Georgina Rodriguez, last August after nine years together, and the pair share two of his five children.

The couple have long been coy about setting a date, with Ronaldo previously saying marriage was a milestone he wanted to get right rather than rush into.

Speculation has followed them for months, powered by cryptic social media posts and reports linking the ceremony to various European venues, but nothing has ever been confirmed by either party directly.

Speculation took off after a Portuguese television programme aired what it claimed was the couple’s wedding invite, apparently setting the ceremony for Saturday the 1st of August, at the Quinta da Regaleira estate in Sintra, with guests reportedly told to wear all black.

Within hours, though, the family moved to deny that a wedding was going ahead this weekend, and Spanish media have since backed up that denial.

Doubts were compounded by the fact the Sintra venue remained open to visitors over the weekend, undermining the idea it had been cleared for a private ceremony. Some reports now suggest the couple could instead favour Ronaldo’s home island of Madeira for the big day, with a ceremony at Funchal Cathedral followed by a reception nearby.

Reports have also pointed to a star-studded guest list, with footballers including Rio Ferdinand, Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe said to be among those invited, alongside actors Vin Diesel and Esther Exposito, who is in a relationship with Mbappe. Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Drake and Travis Scott have also reportedly been linked to the guest list.

Despite the denial, Ronaldo has made no secret of his intention to eventually marry Georgina. He has spoken openly to Piers Morgan about wanting to walk down the aisle as a World Cup winner, and has said he wants to marry her not simply because she is the mother of two of his children, but because she means more to him than anyone else.

However, Portugal’s World Cup campaign ended this summer with a last-16 exit to the eventual World Cup champions, their neighbours and old rivals, Spain.

He has also opened up about the moment he proposed in the early hours of one morning in 2025, describing how his young daughters walked in just as he was handing over the ring, urging him to go ahead and ask Georgina to marry him.

“It was like 1 am. My daughters were in bed sleeping. One of my friends gave me the ring to offer Gio, and as I was giving her the ring, my two kids come in and say: ‘Daddy, you’re going to give the ring to mum and you’re going to ask her to get married'”.

For now, the couple appear to be taking a relaxed summer break instead, having jetted into Mallorca together, both spotted wearing matching diamond watches, a detail that has only added to speculation that an announcement could still be on the way.

Oscar Pistorius Now Has Completely New Career and Girlfriend

Oscar Pistorius, the disgraced Paralympic champion, is reportedly building a quiet new life in Pretoria more than 13 years after murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

The former “Blade Runner”, who won six Paralympic golds and became the first double amputee to compete at the Olympics, shot Steenkamp four times through a locked bathroom door in February 2013. He was released on parole in 2024 and has rarely been seen in public since.

Now 39, Pistorius reportedly looks noticeably different from his athletic prime: Greyer, stubbled, and often dressed in a way that obscures his prosthetics.

Locals in the upscale Waterkloof suburb say he keeps a low profile on morning coffee runs, usually with his small poodle in tow, and is rarely recognised by other customers.

Pistorius reportedly lost his sponsorship deals once he was charged, and was later banned from competitive sport altogether, ruling him out of events like this year’s Commonwealth Games.

He has apparently found new physical outlets instead, taking up padel and entering local Ironman triathlons, reportedly finishing well down the overall field in 555th, but placing third in the physically-challenged category of a race in Durban last year, albeit under a different name.

Sources close to the area say he also began working for a sound engineering company in 2025, despite reportedly having little financial need given the wealth of his uncle Arnold, who has housed him since his teenage years and is said to be one of the richest men in the region.

On the personal side, Pistorius is said to have a new partner, Rita Greyling, who bears a striking resemblance to Steenkamp. The pair reportedly attend a modern, youth-oriented gospel church together, a departure from the traditional Afrikaans congregation his family once favoured.

Their relationship is understood to have become public when they attended his sister’s wedding last year. Churchgoers describe him as an active volunteer, helping with tasks like parking and serving refreshments, and say he has found a sense of community there.

Steenkamp’s father Barry, who died having maintained until the end that Pistorius killed his daughter deliberately, always rejected any suggestion of forgiveness. His family has said the case nearly bankrupted them, and many feel they are the ones left serving a life sentence, rather than the one they felt should have been handed to Pistorius.

Man Utd Must Go All-Out to Sign Real Madrid Star Endrick

Published

Manchester United have been in the market to bolster their midfield all summer, and Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni has emerged as the top target.

Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans have already arrived for a combined £83m, but Michael Carrick is understood to still be pushing for at least one more arrival following the departure of Casemiro at the end of his contract, and Manuel Ugarte’s serious knee injury, which he suffered at the World Cup.

But while midfield has been a major priority, Tchouameni’s move to Old Trafford remains at a standstill, with it still being unclear whether the player wants the move, or if Real Madrid would even be open to a sale.

Part of the reason for the move not progressing is that Real Madrid are now eyeing a move for Man City star Rodri. Should that move progress, with the midfielder keen to make the switch back to his homeland, then they are likely to need to make a sale.

Tchouameni is the obvious option, with such strong interest, but he isn’t the only one, and it’s possible that he could stay even if Rodri arrives.

With so much uncertainty around the situation, Man Utd simply cannot afford to wait around and see if a deal could happen. They need to make a final decision to ensure their new-look midfield is in place when the season starts.

Players like Carlos Baleba remain active options for the midfield, and United could easily switch their priority to that to make sure. But that doesn’t mean that contact with Real Madrid needs to stop.

Midfield isn’t the only position that Man Utd want to strengthen in this window, with left-back and the attack also in need of reinforcements before the window closes. Real Madrid are likely to make more sales before the deadline too, and one star in particular should be at the top of Man Utd’s radar.

Man Utd Must Go All-Out for Endrick

Reports have emerged that Real Madrid could be willing to sell Brazilian forward Endrick, following the imminent arrival of Yan Diomande and new striker Carlos Espi.

Endrick, who has been described as a ‘game-changer’, spent the second half of the 2025/26 season on loan at Lyon and registered eight goals and eight assists in 21 appearances for the French side, playing as both a number nine and on the right wing.

With Man Utd keen to add to their attack to find cover and competition for Benjamin Sesko, as well as question marks over Marcus Rashford’s future, this is the perfect opportunity to do just that and bring in a top talent who is ready to explode.

Tchouameni is a top footballer and would be perfect for the midfield, but a deal isn’t in their control at this stage. Should Man Utd complete a deal for Baleba and then sign Endrick on top of that, it would arguably make the squad even stronger.
