Celtic caretaker manager Martin O’Neill has issued an injury update on Kieran Tierney ahead of their game against Rangers, after he was missing from their squad to face Falkirk on Wednesday evening.
O’Neill took charge of his first game in charge of the club after he was appointed as manager earlier this week on a temporary basis. The experienced coach has taken over on an interim basis after Brendan Rodgers resigned as Celtic searching for a replacement for Rodgers.
The Glasgow giants secured an impressive 4-0 victory on their own turf on Wednesday, and with Hearts only managing a draw, Celtic are now just six points behind in the race for the title. Up next for Celtic is an Old Firm Derby on Sunday, as they go head-to-head against Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
O’Neill Issue Tierney Injury Update at Celtic
Speaking after the win over Falkirk, O’Neill issued an injury update on Tierney after he was missing from their matchday squad. The Celtic caretaker boss confirmed that Tierney was feeling better, and it was just stiffness that ruled him out of the game.
“He’s feeling better. I saw him before the game and he’s much better than he was. He was niggling around. It was a stiffness.”
O’Neill was clearly looking to take no risks ahead of the game against Rangers, which is arguably the more important one, especially for the supporters. The Bhoys won comfortably without Tierney, and they’ll be hoping he’s fit enough to return this weekend.
