Manchester United ‘Have Made an Offer’ to Sign Sergio Ramos

Published

on

Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos – despite being at the age of 39 and in the latter stages of a brilliant career – could be set to move to England in the coming months as his short, yet sweet, stint with CF Monterrey has ended. He joined the Mexican first tier outfit in January but in the wake of his sudden departure, a Premier League club have reportedly made an offer to pounce on the centre-half’s situation.

Fondly remembered for his no-nonsense spell for Real Madrid between his senior debut in 2005 and when he left for Paris Saint-Germain 16 years later in 2021. It was a period of his career that saw him lift four Champions League titles in the space of five seasons (2013/14, 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18), while he also became a champion of Spain four times.

A legend in the truest sense on the international stage, too, Ramos earned his Spain stripes in 2005 before being a vital cog in their World Cup-winning side five years later. All in all, he went on to earn 180 appearances for La Roja over a 16-year period – an appearance record bettered by no Spanish man to date. But could we finally, after years of speculation, see the veteran ply his trade in England’s top flight?

Premier League Club ‘Frontrunners’ in Race for Sergio Ramos

sergio ramos -1

An appealing option for many clubs, given how fruitful a career he’s enjoyed over the last two decades or so, Ramos clearly has plenty to offer for a club plying their trade in Europe’s top five divisions – and that’s why there are reports suggesting that Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United have “made an offer to sign” the Spanish defender, who will be a free agent, in the January transfer window.

After enjoying a solid campaign in Liga MX, Monterrey were keen to offer the Spaniard extended terms. Aiming high, though, Ramos is aiming to return to Europe to spend the twilight period of his career battling with – and against – some of the best players on the planet.

In terms of a potential move to Old Trafford, something that has been spoken about over the last decade or so, United are considered the frontrunners in the race for his signature, according to Cadena Ser, per The Peoples Person, but there are major doubts over whether a deal will be rubber-stamped.

This is not the first time the Red Devils have been interested in getting their hands on Ramos, regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of Real Madrid. They’ve shown concrete interest in the defender on multiple occasions (namely in 2015 while he was at the apex of his powers) and he revealed that he was whiskers away from a Spain-to-England move. Speaking to The Mirror in 2023, he said:

“I stayed where I should have stayed, Real Madrid, but I was indeed close to playing for United. It was not to be, but I do keep that admiration for the club, to the Premier League and the players, because the rhythm of play, the pace is different, and it’s a league we can all learn a great deal from, all of us.”

That summer, Sky Sports revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson – United’s win-at-all-costs boss between 1986 and 2013 – and his entourage had bid £28.6 million for Ramos’ services. Any sort of deal failed to come to fruition, with Los Blancos higher-ups then convincing the defender in question into putting to paper on a five-year deal that summer. His career that followed was, for many, utterly enviable.

Should Ruben Amorim and INEOS Pursue a Deal for Ramos?

Back in the day when Ferguson’s men were interested, it was a no-brainer. Ramos was (at that time) imperiously brilliant in either box, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a better defender of his generation. A serial winner, too, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise for him to spend the final years of his career in England’s top flight – but a move to Old Trafford would not make too much sense.

Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven are two centre-backs who have been signed by the club in recent years. With plenty of years left in the tank, quick-thinking and youthful, signing Ramos (who turns 40 in March 2026) would buck INEOS’ recent trend of investing money – and plenty of trust – into younger players.

The trials and tribulations of the Premier League, notably the speed and power required to keep up, may be a step too far for a player of Ramos’ age. His experience is doubtlessly enticing, but with the futures of Harry Maguire, 32, and Casemiro, 33, up in the air, it’s clear that United are focusing on nurturing a certain profile of player: and, spoiler alert, it’s not 39-year-old central defenders.

Kylian Mbappe Wearing Special Shirt Only 3 Players Have

Kylian Mbappe is lighting up the 2026 World Cup as he looks to fire France to their second success in world football’s biggest competition since 2018.

The Real Madrid forward is firmly in the Golden Boot race against the likes of Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland and Vinicius Junior, having found the net four times in the group stages. Mbappe was crucial to his nation lifting the trophy in 2018, bursting onto the scene as a teenager.

He then had an incredible tournament four years later in Qatar. Despite his side having to settle for second place, the 27-year-old fired in a hat-trick in the final, something only Sir Geoff Hurst has previously managed.

That treble in the final against Argentina helped Mbappe to the Golden Boot in the 2022 World Cup. The versatile forward netted eight times in total, and was undeserving of being on the losing side.

He tends to step up on the big stage when his country needs him. Some eagle-eyed fans may have spotted a difference in the shirt Mbappe is wearing this summer compared to the rest of Didier Deschamps’ men.

2026 World Cup Golden Boot: 17 Top Goalscorers Predicted By AI

Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane are all expected to finish among the top goalscorers in this summer’s tournament.

The reason for that is his Golden Boot victory in 2022. Any active player who has won the individual award at the World Cup is allowed to wear a special patch on the sleeve of their shirt.

England’s Harry Kane and Colombia’s James Rodriguez are the only other players at the tournament this summer allowed to wear the patch, after winning the 2018 and 2014 Golden Boots, respectively.

The award has never been won back-to-back in the competition’s history. But with France being among the strong favourites and expected to go far, there’s every chance their talisman can scoop the honour once again. After all, he’s only four goals away from being the World Cup’s all-time leading scorer.

Mbappe: Lionel Messi Still the Best

While Mbappe is hunting his old Paris Saint-Germain teammate Lionel Messi down in the current Golden Boot race and the all-time scoring charts, he still concedes he has a lot to do to overtake the Argentine.

It was no surprise to Les Bleus’ number nine that Messi has continued to deliver on the big stage. He said (per ESPN): “I already knew Messi was going to keep scoring goals. He always does. He’s ahead of me and I’m behind him. I’ll keep scoring to help my national team go as far as possible.”

What Miroslav Klose Said About Lionel Messi Breaking His World Cup Goalscoring Record

Messi smashed Klose’s tally on Monday evening…

Following the greatest footballer of all time smashed a hat-trick against Algeria, Mbappe declared him still the best in the world. He claimed:

“It’s clear that Messi is the best in the world, and so is Cristiano [Ronaldo]. For 16 years, he [Messi] has shown his extraordinary talent. I’m just trying to do what I know how to do: show my talent on the biggest stage possible and help my national team.”

Newcastle Now Want Felix Nmecha

Published

Newcastle United have lined up a deal to sign a midfielder this summer, as the Magpies face the possibility of losing some key players in the coming weeks.

The Magpies are under pressure to keep their best stars, with Sandro Tonali being heavily linked with a move to the likes of Tottenham, Manchester United, and Arsenal.

The Italian international isn’t the only possible exit, as Bruno Guimaraes has also been linked with a transfer elsewhere, as Arsenal have made an offer to sign the Brazilian.

A deal for the former seems the most likely, meaning Newcastle are on the market for replacements, and one target is now seemingly in the club’s sights.

Newcastle Add Felix Nmecha To Shortlist

According to a report from journalist Craig Hope, Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha is on Newcastle’s shortlist as a transfer target for this summer.

The Magpies are described as “long-term admirers” of the 25-year-old, who has impressed in the Bundesliga as well as in the World Cup with Germany in recent weeks.

Nmecha has a release clause in his deal worth £73.5 million, though that doesn’t come into effect until next summer. That said, the report claims that there is hope a move can be negotiated for lower than that price.

There is likely to be some competition for Nmecha’s signature, as Manchester United have been linked with a transfer, along with fellow Premier League rivals Liverpool.

It remains to be seen whether Newcastle can get an agreement with both Dortmund and the Germany international over a potential transfer in the coming weeks as a result.

But it could prove to be a coup for the side, with Nmecha described as the “most underrated midfielder in Europe” for good reason.

Newcastle’s Key Transfer Decisions

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe looks on glumly

Newcastle are facing a tough summer transfer window, with Anthony Gordon’s exit set to be just the first of a few key moves away from the club.

Given the struggles in the Premier League last season, the Magpies will be keen to not be in a weaker position next campaign when it comes to the options available.

However, it may be the sales that help ensure that is the case. Selling some important players in favour of huge transfer fees could allow it to be reinvested in a way that will add a better balance of quality across the whole squad.

Newcastle Make New Transfer Plan as £69m Star Set To Leave

Newcastle United are in the market for a striker, as one star looks set to leave the club this summer.

That, in theory, should allow the team to become stronger. But that will only happen if the right transfer replacements are found for the right price.

That was the theory in practice last summer, with Alexander Isak’s sale generating a club-record fee, but resulting in the wrong options being signed to take his place.

Newcastle cannot allow a repeat of that, especially in the midfield engine room, which has been among the key areas of strength under Howe.
