Liverpool Can Unleash 3 Amazing Line-ups From January

Published

on

The consensus among Premier League fans once the summer transfer window slammed shut was that Liverpool‘s £446 million spending was the best business conducted by any club in English football history. But four months into the season, and they look to have already surrendered their title, and problems are giving Arne Slot an almighty headache.

Mohamed Salah‘s future is in significant doubt after the Egyptian forward suggested he has “no relationship” with Slot. He has been recalled for the game against Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend ahead of the African Cup of Nations but could well make way in January.

Liverpool may already have a replacement in mind and GIVEMESPORT senior reporter Fabrizio Romano reports they are in talks to sign Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo. The Ghanaian has a £65 million release clause which becomes active in the January transfer window, and the race is on to sign one of the league’s most in-form attackers.

Semenyo might not be the only new arrival at Anfield next month, as Slot will want to address the defence’s glaring issues. One of those is Ibrahima Konate, who has endured an error-prone season thus far, and the club may well look to replace the Frenchman.

With that said, here’s how the Merseyside giants could line up if there are ins and outs during the winter.

Slot Sticks To His Guns

Slot has switched up his formation on several occasions to try to fit as many of his superstars in his team, but the 4-3-3 could be the way to go if Semenyo arrives. The Cherries attacker is extremely versatile but could thrive on the right wing with Conor Bradley behind him.

Much of the criticism thrown at Salah this season has been a lack of effort tracking back but Semenyo is energy personified, willing to help out in defence before using his frightening pace on the counter-attack. This setup is perfect for him to come into a frightening frontline.

Slot’s main issue could be Alexander Isak, who continues to stutter at the start of his Anfield career. But spending £125 million on a player almost makes them undroppable, and he could retain faith in the Swede to come good while turning to Hugo Ekitike off the bench.

Konate’s struggles could be rectified by bringing Marc Guehi, who reportedly still wants to join the club despite missing out on a deadline day move in September. The Crystal Palace captain would give Slot a refresh at the back and line up alongside Virgil van Dijk to form a strong partnership.

The midfield could see Slot start to move away from Alexis Mac Allister, who has failed to replicate his incredible performances from last season. The Argentine is linked with Real Madrid, and preparing for life without him, perhaps with Adam Wharton in mind next summer, should see Dominik Szoboszlai become Ryan Gravenberch’s midfield partner with Florian Wirtz ahead of them.

Slot’s Need For Speed

The potential arrival of Semenyo adds to a squad already brimming with pacey talent, including Jeremie Frimpong. The Dutch wing-back has failed to meet expectations as Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s replacement, and many have questioned whether he was the right profile to target.

There is a real player in there that needs to adapt to the Premier League and could do with a more dependable center-back next to him. Reports claim that the Reds are among several clubs eyeing Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa, and swooping for the Englishman could be of enormous benefit to Frimpong, given his ability to move out to right-back as he has done for Thomas Tuchel’s England.

It seems unlikely Mac Allister will be moved on in January, but he shouldn’t be starting ahead of either Szoboszlai or Gravenberch in midfield. The only issue is on the left, with question marks over Milos Kerkez and Andy Robertson’s experience feels the way to go if Slot is to rely on a pacey setup.

Cody Gakpo hasn’t been at his best as of late, and this gives Slot the easy decision to use Ekitike out on the left with Semenyo on the right and Wirtz in a number 10 role. This allows the Dutch coach’s two strikers to start, with Isak to lead the line in an exciting attacking system.

Slot’s Swarm

Another option for Slot could be to use a 4-2-4, which converts into a 4-4-2 when defending, and he does have the players to do so, especially if signings are made in January. Bradley is the more reliable option at right-back, while this system could get the best out of Kerkez.

The Hungarian is struggling but hasn’t been helped by a poor connection with Gakpo, who doesn’t make the starting lineup. Instead, it’s Wirtz who could accompany him out on the left long-term, but Robertson probably remains the starter while Semenyo lines up on the right with Ekitike and Isak both playing up top.

Isak and Ekitike

Szoboszlai has undoubtedly been Slot’s best player this season, and he has shown he can perform any task asked of him. That could mean he takes up a central midfield role and partners Gravenberch.

Guehi has been superb for Palace this season, and his potential acquisition feels like a game-changer if pulled off in January. The right side of the team feels so much stronger with the Eagles skipper lining up alongside Van Dijk.

Spurs Make Strange Request to Newcastle During Tonali Talks

Published

Tottenham are said to have made a cheeky request to Newcastle United as they look to get the Sandro Tonali transfer over the line. Spurs are working on a number of deals as they look to follow up their bold start to the window, which has seen them snap up four players within just over a week of the summer transfer window officially opening.

The Spurs chiefs indirectly promised changes to investment levels after back-to-back bottom-half Premier League finishes, and they are now following up. Big money is to be spent to overhaul Roberto De Zerbi’s squad this summer, and the next priority appears to be the midfield.

The latest on Spurs move to sign Tonali

Tottenham saw a £75million bid for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali rejected recently, with the Magpies hoping for around £100million, according to the Daily Mail, who say Spurs sent a bizarre second offer for the player this week.

They say Tottenham sent another offer but did not increase the value of it, leading to a swift rejection from Newcastle United. It’s unclear what Tottenham’s thinking was, and indeed whether the terms of the deal were changed, which could be the case. It’s possible Tottenham promised more money upfront in a bid to sweeten the offer, while they may also have been trying their luck with the knowledge Tonali is said to prefer a move this summer, with Sky Sports reporting he has already “said yes” to Spurs.

But it seems Newcastle are focused on landing a bigger fee, and that will force Spurs to consider whether they meet those demands or take their money elsewhere to buy an alternative midfielder this summer.

Tottenham’s midfield needs in the transfer window

Yves Bissouma vs West Ham

Spurs are in need of a midfielder or two this summer as they say goodbye to Yves Bissouma, who will leave at the end of his current deal. The North London club are also on course to lose loan player Joao Palhinha unless they move to activate the option to buy that would make the deal permanent.

It has gone quiet on that front over recent weeks, but Spurs likely have until the end of the month to make their decision. The latest reports claim Spurs wanted a cheaper deal, but Bayern are unlikely to accommodate that request, given they paid. The option to buy is already £21million less than the €51million Bayern paid for the Portugal international.

Spurs have Rodrigo Bentancur as their only real out-and-out holding midfielder on the books for next season, but Achie Gray, Conor Gallagher and Pape Matar Sarr are all capable of playing a deeper role, so there is some depth there.

Kylian Mbappe Wearing Special Shirt Only 3 Players Have

Kylian Mbappe is lighting up the 2026 World Cup as he looks to fire France to their second success in world football’s biggest competition since 2018.

The Real Madrid forward is firmly in the Golden Boot race against the likes of Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland and Vinicius Junior, having found the net four times in the group stages. Mbappe was crucial to his nation lifting the trophy in 2018, bursting onto the scene as a teenager.

He then had an incredible tournament four years later in Qatar. Despite his side having to settle for second place, the 27-year-old fired in a hat-trick in the final, something only Sir Geoff Hurst has previously managed.

That treble in the final against Argentina helped Mbappe to the Golden Boot in the 2022 World Cup. The versatile forward netted eight times in total, and was undeserving of being on the losing side.

He tends to step up on the big stage when his country needs him. Some eagle-eyed fans may have spotted a difference in the shirt Mbappe is wearing this summer compared to the rest of Didier Deschamps’ men.

2026 World Cup Golden Boot: 17 Top Goalscorers Predicted By AI

Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane are all expected to finish among the top goalscorers in this summer’s tournament.

The reason for that is his Golden Boot victory in 2022. Any active player who has won the individual award at the World Cup is allowed to wear a special patch on the sleeve of their shirt.

England’s Harry Kane and Colombia’s James Rodriguez are the only other players at the tournament this summer allowed to wear the patch, after winning the 2018 and 2014 Golden Boots, respectively.

The award has never been won back-to-back in the competition’s history. But with France being among the strong favourites and expected to go far, there’s every chance their talisman can scoop the honour once again. After all, he’s only four goals away from being the World Cup’s all-time leading scorer.

Mbappe: Lionel Messi Still the Best

While Mbappe is hunting his old Paris Saint-Germain teammate Lionel Messi down in the current Golden Boot race and the all-time scoring charts, he still concedes he has a lot to do to overtake the Argentine.

It was no surprise to Les Bleus’ number nine that Messi has continued to deliver on the big stage. He said (per ESPN): “I already knew Messi was going to keep scoring goals. He always does. He’s ahead of me and I’m behind him. I’ll keep scoring to help my national team go as far as possible.”

Messi smashed Klose’s tally on Monday evening…

Following the greatest footballer of all time smashed a hat-trick against Algeria, Mbappe declared him still the best in the world. He claimed:

“It’s clear that Messi is the best in the world, and so is Cristiano [Ronaldo]. For 16 years, he [Messi] has shown his extraordinary talent. I’m just trying to do what I know how to do: show my talent on the biggest stage possible and help my national team.”

Newcastle Now Want Felix Nmecha

Published

Newcastle United have lined up a deal to sign a midfielder this summer, as the Magpies face the possibility of losing some key players in the coming weeks.

The Magpies are under pressure to keep their best stars, with Sandro Tonali being heavily linked with a move to the likes of Tottenham, Manchester United, and Arsenal.

The Italian international isn’t the only possible exit, as Bruno Guimaraes has also been linked with a transfer elsewhere, as Arsenal have made an offer to sign the Brazilian.

A deal for the former seems the most likely, meaning Newcastle are on the market for replacements, and one target is now seemingly in the club’s sights.

Newcastle Add Felix Nmecha To Shortlist

nmecha dortmund

According to a report from journalist Craig Hope, Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha is on Newcastle’s shortlist as a transfer target for this summer.

The Magpies are described as “long-term admirers” of the 25-year-old, who has impressed in the Bundesliga as well as in the World Cup with Germany in recent weeks.

Nmecha has a release clause in his deal worth £73.5 million, though that doesn’t come into effect until next summer. That said, the report claims that there is hope a move can be negotiated for lower than that price.

There is likely to be some competition for Nmecha’s signature, as Manchester United have been linked with a transfer, along with fellow Premier League rivals Liverpool.

It remains to be seen whether Newcastle can get an agreement with both Dortmund and the Germany international over a potential transfer in the coming weeks as a result.

But it could prove to be a coup for the side, with Nmecha described as the “most underrated midfielder in Europe” for good reason.

Newcastle’s Key Transfer Decisions

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe looks on glumly

Newcastle are facing a tough summer transfer window, with Anthony Gordon’s exit set to be just the first of a few key moves away from the club.

Given the struggles in the Premier League last season, the Magpies will be keen to not be in a weaker position next campaign when it comes to the options available.

However, it may be the sales that help ensure that is the case. Selling some important players in favour of huge transfer fees could allow it to be reinvested in a way that will add a better balance of quality across the whole squad.

Newcastle Make New Transfer Plan as £69m Star Set To Leave

Newcastle United are in the market for a striker, as one star looks set to leave the club this summer.

That, in theory, should allow the team to become stronger. But that will only happen if the right transfer replacements are found for the right price.

That was the theory in practice last summer, with Alexander Isak’s sale generating a club-record fee, but resulting in the wrong options being signed to take his place.

Newcastle cannot allow a repeat of that, especially in the midfield engine room, which has been among the key areas of strength under Howe.
