ADC in Delta politically sophisticated to dislodge APC in 2027 – Leaders

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Delta State, has claimed it is politically sophisticated to dislodge the ruling All Progressive Party,, APC, from power in 2027.

Addressing jounalists at the end of a stakeholders’ meeting in Asaba, leaders of the party said ADC was sure to produce the next Governor of Delta State.

Anthony Omonigho, who heads the ADC in Delta, pointed out that the party was coming clean without any baggage and would be fielding persons of integrity, who would selflessly serve the people, for the various elective positions, with a view to providing the needed template to rewriting the political history of the country for good.

While rating the performance of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration average, he maintained that Deltans deserved a better deal than they were presently getting considering the huge resources at the disposal of government.

“We are not afraid of the challenges, we shall tackle them. We are politically sophisticated, ADC is going to commence revalidation of members, registration of members with aggressive membership drive” Omonigho said

The party leader explained that the competence of candidates would be taken seriously for elected leaders and taken precedence over rotation of power, which he noted tended to promote mediocrity and bad leadership.

He described the coalition of political parties that metamorphosed to the party as an unstoppable movement that would be similar to the Obidient Movement of 2023.

“We have announced the entry of the party into Delta state’s political arena, with a pledge to drive quality and purposeful leadership if given the mandate to govern the state in 2027” he said.

Similarly, Hon Ozeghe Lawrence, lamented the various white elephant ongoing projects in the state that are not necessary.

According to him, ADC has felt the impulse of the people, have wide consultation, and has mechanism to manage crisis in the state.

While alleging that leadership in the country was in the wrong hands, he said ADC had come to change the narrative and lead the people aright.

He said the revalidation of members and an aggressive membership drive were underway to position the party for serious political activities ahead of the 2027 election, adding that an internal mechanism was in place to handle issues that could lead to factionalism of the party in Delta State.

“A week ago, transition team was inaugurated. We are ready and prepared to hit the ground running. It is a bad time in Nigeria, which means Delta state needs new hands. The political battle is like David & Goliath. Those in Delta APC are old wine in new bottle.

“ADC is ready to be in Government House in 2027. Delta State was created the same date with Akwa Ibom state. Towns in Akwa Ibom are far better than Delta. How long will Delta continue this way, how long.? With all the resources, Delta is going down. All stakeholders now desiring for change.

“There are some white elephant projects, some touch lives, some are not necessary. The ADC has felt the impulse of the people, wide consultation, and has mechanism to manage crisis in the state” Ozeghe stated.

NDC: Tinubu engaged in deliberate onslaught against opposition – Chikamnayo

Published

A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Eze Chikamnayo, has alleged that there is a deliberate onslaught by President Bola Tinubu against opposition parties.

Chikamnayo made the allegation in an interview on Arise Television on Monday.

He described last week’s judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja, which nullified the registration of the NDC as notorious and very dangerous.

“There is a deliberate onslaught against opposition parties by the President.

“I want to use this opportunity to plead with his excellency President Tinubu to get his hands off the opposition parties.

“All it takes for peaceful change is for him to allow democracy to happen. If he makes peaceful change impossible, a violent change will be inevitable,” he said.

Recall that a Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, recently set aside its earlier judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to register the NDC as a political party.

2027: Don’t push Nigeria into chaos — Timi Frank on fresh plot to delist ADC

Published

By

The former deputy spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress, Timi Frank, has said there is a fresh plot to delist the African Democratic Congress, ADC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement on Monday, Frank said any move to exclude ADC from the ballot in the coming general election would plunge the country into chaos.

Frank warned that any attempt to exclude the ADC and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, would be heavily resisted by Nigerians.

“We have been reliably informed of a fresh plot to use the judiciary and INEC to remove the ADC from the ballot come 2027. The ADC has always been the main target.

“The ultimate objective is to ensure that the ADC and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, do not participate in the 2027 election at all costs,” he said.

According to him, any move to delist ADC would damage Nigeria’s democratic image.

He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and closely monitor what he described as a dangerous pattern being orchestrated by the ruling party in its alleged determination to retain power by every means possible.

“I urge Nigerians to take this warning seriously because a new twist in this plot will soon surface. What is being perfected is a dark agenda designed to silence opposition parties and perpetrate a massive electoral fraud ahead of the 2027 general election,” he alleged.

He further claimed that President Bola was Tinubu’s administration has abandoned democratic norms and is determined to use state institutions and apparatus to destroy opposition parties, especially the ADC.

“I call on the international community, especially the United States’ government, to intervene and ensure that Nigeria does not descend into crisis because of the desperation of those in power.

“The current administration has thrown decorum to the wind and appears determined to truncate democracy for selfish political interests by deploying state institutions against the opposition,” he said.

Frank further warned INEC and the judiciary against becoming “accomplices” in any alleged anti-democratic plot, saying that Nigerians, the international community, and posterity would hold them accountable for their actions.

“We are already aware of what is being planned. Those behind this conspiracy within the presidency are known to us, and their identities will be made available to the international community as individuals who enabled impunity and democratic barbarism in Nigeria,” he declared.

“Nigeria’s democracy must not be disrupted by the desperation of a few individuals who are determined to hold on to power at all costs,” he said.

Frank’s comment comes after Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the ADC, alleged a plot to use the judiciary and other means to delist the party

Recall that on Friday last week, a high court in Lokoja set aside the earlier judgment that compelled INEC to register it as a political party.

Former Bayelsa senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, has opened up on why former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaeachi, and five other governors dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2015.

In a viral video sighted by DAILY POST, Murray-Bruce attributed the crisis to poor decisions and bad advice former President Goodluck Jonathan was getting from his aides.

He said those around the former President ignored repeated warnings about growing dissatisfaction among key PDP governors.

According to him, some presidential aides failed to treat with urgency the clear signs that major political figures within the party were unhappy and considering defection.

“As I sit here and think about my experience with people who were so incompetent and unconcerned about the people they served, giving silly advice to the Commander-in-Chief, I am amazed. I can’t get over it,” he said.
