Ogun Guber: Accord affirms Adeleke as candidate, says APC behind parallel primary
The National Treasurer of Accord Party, Chief Abdulazeez Oyeniyi Salaudeen, has declared that the party held a lawful primary election in Osun State on December 10, 2025.
He explained that the primary was conducted in compliance with the Electoral Act, 2022, and under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, with Governor Ademola Adeleke as the sole aspirant for the governorship seat.
The national treasurer, who stated this at a press briefing in Minna, disclosed that the party conducted a full election with 150 accredited delegates, with Adeleke securing 145 valid votes, while five ballots were voided due to incorrect thumb printing.
He noted that the process was transparent, with INEC, the media, observers and security agents in attendance.
Salaudeen, who chaired the Electoral Committee, declared Adeleke the winner.
He rejected a parallel election organized those he described as members expelled from the party in 2024, alleging it was a destabilization effort backed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State.
“In Accord as a party, we don’t have party factions, instead we are united under the able leadership of Barr. Maxwell Ngbudem and the National Secretary, Hon. Adebukola Abiola Ajaja.
“We learned that some enemies of democracy who had been expelled from the party since early 2024 are saying that they conducted their own kangaroo election that was not known to INEC and the law.
“We are reiterating that we don’t know these people and we believe that they are being sponsored by All Progressives Congress (APC) party members in Osun State to cause confusion and to destabilize the party (Accord) for the people of Osun State.
“Accord (Party) in the North Central Zone, held their meeting last Saturday, 14th December 2025, and we affirmed and gave a vote of confidence on the leadership of the party,” he said.

2027: Tinubu, APC will be massively defeated – Dickson
National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Seriake Dickson, has said that President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, APC, will be defeated in the 2027 general elections.
Dickson made this remark on Sunday while fielding questions in an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television.
He was speaking on the forthcoming next year’s general elections and the preparedness of the NDC for the polls.
“As leader of the NDC, and as a Nigerian, who knows the feelings and the yearnings of Nigerians, who also knows that their aspirations have not been met, we believe that the APC government, APC as a party and President Tinubu will be defeated massively.
“However, it’s not for one person to decide. It’s a decision for Nigerians, and that’s why you must open up the political space and not constrict it by contrived legal shenanigans using the judiciary to authenticate and legitimize what is morally reprehensible.
“My plea to the leadership of Nigeria’s judiciary, which is the pride of our nation, and the one that holds the balance, while we politicians can do the political struggle and INEC, is to please don’t allow desperate politicians to truncate our democracy,” he said.

2027: NDC will overcome current crisis – Kwankwaso
Vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed confidence that the party will overcome its ongoing legal challenges, urging members and supporters to remain calm and committed ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso gave the assurance on Sunday through a post on his official X platform following a courtesy visit to the National Leader of the NDC, Seriake Dickson, at his Abuja residence.
According to the former Kano State governor, the meeting was part of broader consultations aimed at strengthening party unity, resilience and strategic preparations for the next electoral cycle.
“Today, I paid a courtesy visit to the National Leader of our party, the NDC, His Excellency Seriake Dickson, at his residence in Abuja,” he wrote.
“The engagement forms part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the party’s unity, resilience and strategic readiness as we prepare for the 2027 general elections.”
Kwankwaso stated that the party remained fully committed to democratic principles and the rule of law, while expressing confidence in the judicial process despite the legal issues confronting the party.
“As true democrats, we remain committed to the rule of law and have absolute confidence in the judicial process. No temporary setback can weaken the spirit of a movement built on hope, justice, equity, and the collective aspirations of the Nigerian people,” he said.
He further appealed to party faithful, supporters and Nigerians to remain steadfast and optimistic, insisting that the party would emerge stronger from the current situation.
“I urge all party members, supporters, and well-meaning Nigerians to stay calm, resolute, and focused on our shared mission. Together, we will rise above every challenge.
“Nigeria will be OK,” he added.

Attack on AA presidential candidate cowardly — Zamfara chairman
Zamfara State chapter of the Action Alliance, AA, has condemned the attack on its 2027 presidential candidate, Aare Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, describing the incident as an assault on democracy.
The party made its position known in a statement issued on Sunday in Gusau by its state chairman, Shehu Hussaini Waziri.
According to the statement, the attack occurred on Saturday during a burial ceremony at Ekusa in Odo Otin Local Government Area of Osun State.
Waziri described the incident as an attempt to intimidate opposition political parties and undermine democratic principles.
“This cowardly act is a direct assault on democracy and an attempt to intimidate the opposition,” he said.
The party called on security agencies to investigate the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Waziri maintained that Omoaje and his supporters would remain committed to the pursuit of justice, peaceful coexistence and national development despite the attack.
He also urged party members and supporters to remain calm, law-abiding and peaceful while allowing security agencies to carry out their investigations.
The AA chairman further stressed the need for adequate protection of political actors and citizens, describing safety and security as essential to the country’s democratic process.
