Roberto De Zerbi Ready to Quit Marseille to Take Man Utd Job, He’s a Top Contender
Manchester United have made Roberto De Zerbi one of their top contenders to replace Ruben Amorim as manager, and he is ready to quit Marseille to take the job, according to TEAMtalk.
The Red Devils pulled the trigger on the Portuguese coach on Monday morning after a draw with Leeds United on Sunday, where the manager seemed to go against the board in his press conference after the final whistle.
The current plan at Old Trafford is to appoint an interim manager until the end of the season, with Michael Carrick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer among the top contenders for that role, before appointing a permanent boss in the summer, and De Zerbi has emerged as a target.
De Zerbi Ready to Quit Marseille for Man Utd
De Zerbi, who has been described as ‘one of the best coaches’ and ‘world-class’ by his former player Adam Lallana, is currently the manager of Ligue 1 side Marseille, where he took over following a successful spell at Brighton in the Premier League.
But the Italian is someone that is hugely admired by Man Utd chiefs, and it’s understood that his name carries weight with the INEOS decision makers. He was previously interviewed by the bosses when the club were making a decision on the future of Erik Ten Hag, only for the Dutchman to instead keep his job.
There is said to be internal support for his appointment this time around, and it’s understood that De Zerbi wants the job at Old Trafford as he sees it as the perfect next step in his career, while he is also keen to return to the Premier League at some point. In fact, the report states that De Zerbi would actually be willing to quit his role as Marseille boss in order to make himself available for Man Utd.
United are said to be keen to appoint someone with Premier League experience, and his tactical flexibility and exciting, attacking style of football would stand him in good stead too.
De Zerbi: Disaster or Masterstroke?
While there is no doubting that brilliance of De Zerbi’s coaching methods, there is a lot to be said about his behaviour outside of the dugout and his confrontational style.
We have seen and heard stories of the Italian being very straight-talking and having a no-nonsense approach, and that could potentially be something that causes problems down the line with the board, players and fans.
However, if he turns up to Old Trafford and is able to get big results, playing good football, and bring the good times back, then fans will surely be willing to accept that. His appointment could either be a disaster or a masterstoke, and this is a situation to pay close attention to in the coming months.

Cristian Orozco Set to Undergo Man Utd Medical
Manchester United are pushing to sign multiple midfielders in the summer transfer window, and one has now travelled to Manchester in order to undergo a medical ahead of a move.
The Red Devils are in the market for midfielders, and they have reached a full agreement to sign Atalanta star Ederson in the summer transfer window.
It appears that the Brazilian international isn’t the only midfielder who is going to be arriving through the door at Old Trafford before the window closes in September.
The Manchester club are heavily focusing on reinforcements in the middle of the park after Casemiro left the club earlier this summer.
An injury to Manuel Ugarte isn’t going to impact their plans, according to David Ornstein, with Mateus Fernandes their immediate priority.

Midfielder Heads to Man Utd for Medical
According to a report from The Athletic, young midfielder Cristian Orozco has travelled to Manchester to undergo a medical at Manchester United ahead of his move from Fortaleza CF.
The 17-year-old will officially become a United player when he turns 18 next month, with a deal agreed back in September.
The youngster turns 18 in July, and he’s represented Colombia at under-17 level, playing his domestic football in the Colombian top flight.
Orozco is unlikely to come in and become a first-team signing for United at the moment, considering his age. There’s no doubt they’re likely to sign another midfielder this summer.
It looks set to be a busy few weeks for United as they look to get multiple deals over the line.

Liverpool Eye Barcola and Diomande Alternatives
It was recently confirmed that, despite interest from Liverpool, RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande is now prioritising a move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool also suffered another blow in their pursuit of a new winger after David Ornstein confirmed that PSG have no interest in allowing Bradley Barcola to leave the club, even if they sign Diomande.
As a result, Liverpool have been forced to explore alternative options, with reports suggesting that Koln forward Said El Mala is a target.

El Mala Could Explode Under Iraola
New Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has certainly shown that he is capable of getting the best out of wingers during his time with Bournemouth.
Antoine Semenyo flourished under him with the Cherries before earning a big-money move to Manchester City.
Iraola also nurtured Rayan in the second half of last season, and he’s quickly become one of the most sought-after wingers in world football.
The new Liverpool manager is known for giving young talents a chance to impress, so he won’t be fazed by the fact that El Mala, described as being ‘one in a million’, is only 19 years old.
