Man Utd Expect to Land Two of Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton, and Elliot Anderson

Published

on

Manchester United could look towards massively improving their midfield ranks in the summer transfer window, according to reports – with the Red Devils keen on adding two of Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson and Carlos Baleba to their engine room to put United towards the Premier League title race once again.

United’s attacking ranks massively struggled last season, and in the summer, they addressed that in the market with moves for Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

And that could be the case again in the coming months. Casemiro has announced that he will be departing Old Trafford at the end of the campaign, whilst Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes’ futures are unknown – meaning INEOS will be keen to add players to their midfield ranks.

Report: Man Utd Expect Two of Anderson, Wharton and Baleba This Summer

As a result, the report byDaily Mail reporter Nathan Salt states that United expect to sign two of Anderson, Wharton and Baleba– with two of the three wanted for their ranks by the start of next season – though each will cost at least £70million.

Anderson has been touted as United’s ‘top target’ this summer, with the Newcastle native having burst into the England first-team following some impressive form for Nottingham Forest over the past 18 months.

Expected to start for England in this summer’s 2026 World Cup, he could command a fee as high as £100million in the transfer market, given he is constantly improving even at the age of just 23 years old.

That being said, qualifying for the Champions League will be crucial to attracting Anderson, given he is in ‘huge demand’ at the City Ground.

Baleba is also a target despite his dip in form for Brighton this season, and he will potentially depart for a fee close to £75million in the summer months.

Wharton, meanwhile, is ‘expected’ to be sold in the summer, with Liverpool prioritising the Blackburn-born star. However, United are also interested in the star, potentially bringing him back to the north-west and featuring alongside Kobbie Mainoo, with the duo having been compared earlier in their careers.

Man Utd Have Needed a Midfield Overhaul for Some Years Now

United have been planning a midfield overhaul for some time, with Ruben Amorim pushing for recruitments in the summer before his budget was quashed by the attacking inclusions.

Wharton and Anderson would make the most sense, with both returning to their northern roots, offering a blend of Premier League experience, high-ceiling potential and ball retention to bring a sense of calm to United’s ranks.

However, Baleba was one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League last season, and he shouldn’t be discounted. One thing is for certain – United would be better off with any of the trio, let alone two.

Tottenham In Talks to Complete Jan Paul van Hecke

Tottenham Hotspur are in club-to-club talks with Brighton and Hove Albion over a deal for Jan Paul van Hecke, with a new meeting scheduled for this week, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Tottenham have got their summer off to a strong start with two full agreements for new signings reached a week before the transfer window even opens.

Andy Robertson’s move is already confirmed after he left Liverpool following the expiry of his contract this summer, while he is set to be joined at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by another free agent in Marcos Senesi, with an announcement on the Argentine’s arrival expected imminently.

Spurs don’t appear to be anywhere near done with those two deals though, and there could soon be another defender joining the club in Van Hecke, if Roberto De Zerbi and club chiefs have their way.

The north Londoners are also working on strengthening their attacking options after scoring just 48 goals in their 38 Premier League matches this season.

A Tottenham deal is on and progressing for Manchester City left-winger Savinho, according to Romano, while they are also reportedly considering a move for unhappy Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo with some long-term injury issues to deal with.

Van Hecke Wants to Join Tottenham

Tottenham aren’t messing around when it comes to bolstering a defence that has conceded 183 goals across the previous three Premier League seasons.

With Robertson done and Senesi looking to be imminent, Spurs are now focused on getting a deal for Brighton star Van Hecke across the line.

According to Romano, posting on X on Monday, Tottenham remain in club-to-club talks with the Seagulls over a deal with new talks planned for this week.

The 26-year-old ‘monster’ has made it clear that he wants to link up with De Zerbi for a second time, with the Italian also wanting him at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for next season.

Separate reports from the centre-back’s homeland claim that he has already agreed personal terms with the north Londoners, and he only wants to join them despite interest from other Premier League clubs.

Tottenham Defence Set for Major Transformation

Tottenham Hotspur Cristian Romero warms up

With Robertson and Senesi set to arrive, the addition of Van Hecke would suggest there could be some big changes coming at the heart of Spurs’ defence this summer.

De Zerbi’s current options there are captain Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Kevin Danso and Radu Dragusin.

Should Senesi and Van Hecke both join, it would point to there being at least one exit coming up this summer, and potentially two.

Dragusin has been a bit-part player for a long time now so his exit wouldn’t be too surprising, but you would suspect that one of Romero or Van de Ven would be on their way too.

The Spurs skipper has long been linked with a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and this may be the summer where he does go.

GIVEMESPORT sources have suggested that Van de Ven, despite attracting interest from clubs like Liverpool, is actually open to extending his contract at Spurs under the leadership of De Zerbi.

Man Utd Hold Talks to Sign Marc Casado From Barcelona

Manchester United have held talks to sign Barcelona star Marc Casado as they look to continue their midfield rebuild, but there has been a twist, according to TEAMtalk.

Man United have made strengthening their midfield the biggest priority with a week to go until the summer transfer window officially opens, with a deal for Atalanta’s Ederson already agreed.

The Brazilian is expected to complete his move to Old Trafford at the start of July after undergoing a medical, but the Red Devils won’t be done there when it comes to adding new faces in midfield following the expected departures of Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte.

United could still add two more midfielders to their squad after Ederson, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni are both ‘dream’ signings for the club this summer.

The club is also looking at lower-cost options too, with two Championship players on their radar that Michael Carrick and Jason Wilcox know well in Hayden Hackney of Middlesbrough and Shea Charles of Southampton.

While there has been a focus on identifying players with Premier League experience, they have held talks over bringing a Barcelona player to Old Trafford.

According to TEAMtalk, Premier League clubs are queuing up to sign Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado, with the Spaniard expected to leave the La Liga champions this summer as Hansi Flick looks to make room in his squad.

Manchester United have held talks alongside top flight rivals Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Brighton, Nottingham Forest, Everton and Crystal Palace, although none of those clubs have launched a formal offer for the 22-year-old ‘animal’.

Now, Monaco are pushing to finalise a deal for the Spain international, after taking pole position in the race to prise him away from the Camp Nou.

Monaco are increasingly confident of signing the Spaniard in a deal worth in excess of £20m, with the likes of United looking elsewhere should the Ligue 1 club get a deal over the line.

United In Talks Over Deal for Two Midfielders

Sandro Tonali

While Man United dream of doing deals for Anderson and Tchouameni, they are reported to be in talks over deals for two Premier League-based players as they look to get their business done early.

The difference between Anderson and Tchouameni and this duo is that neither will be at the World Cup, which could help negotiations.

One is West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes, who has become a key target in recent weeks, and even more so now the Irons have been relegated to the Championship.

United are one of the clubs who sense an opportunity with the talented Portuguese star, who is unlikely to want to play in England’s second tier next term and is said to be keen on a switch to Old Trafford.

The other player is Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali, with one report from Italy claiming that Carrick had instructed Red Devils chiefs to land the Italy international this summer.

Neither player will come cheap however, with West Ham and Newcastle ready to dig their heels in on asking prices, although the former’s relegation surely weakens their negotiating position slightly.

Jurgen Klopp Reportedly in Talks About Saudi Job With Al-Ittihad

Published

When Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool in the summer of 2024, he was clear that he needed a break.

The intensity of nearly nine years at Anfield, not to mention seven before that at Borussia Dortmund, had taken its toll on the German. But football has a way of pulling people back in, and reports have now emerged that Klopp is in discussions over a new role in the game.

It won’t be a return to management, at least not immediately. But it does suggest that the man who won the Champions League, Premier League, and two Bundesliga titles isn’t quite done yet.

Jurgen Klopp Linked With Real Madrid and a Liverpool Return

Before the latest development, the 58-year-old’s name had been swirling around some of the biggest jobs in world football. Real Madrid were frequently mentioned, with defeated presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme even going as far as to promise supporters he’d pursue Klopp if he got elected. This was the second time in less than a year Klopp’s name had been mentioned, after Los Blancos had parted ways with now-Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso.

There was also brief speculation about a sensational return to Liverpool following the dismissal of Arne Slot, but the Reds eventually appointed former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraiola.

In his current role as Red Bull’s Head of Global Football, Klopp oversees football operations across the energy drink manufacturer’s network of clubs, RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, and sides in Brazil, the USA and Japan. He’s contracted until 2029, but reports of internal fallouts have surfaced in recent months, which only adds to the speculation over him leaving.

Saudi Arabia Calling for Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp

The talks in question are with Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, and they’re reportedly more advanced than his camp would like to let on. According to Goal, Klopp’s agent Marc Kosicke was dismissing the speculation outright, stating flatly that a move to the Saudi club was “out of the question” just a week ago. But Sky Sport’s transfer insider, Sacha Tavolieri, claims that discussions have resumed within the last 24 hours.

The role being discussed isn’t a managerial one. Al-Ittihad are understood to want Klopp as technical director, with oversight of the club’s transfer strategy, rather than day-to-day coaching. Klopp has said multiple times that he won’t leave Red Bull until after the transfer window closes at least.

But unlike most European leagues, Saudi Arabia’s transfer window stays open until the 12th of October, meaning he could very easily make the switch and get straight to work recruiting for a club which has a budget bigger than most clubs in world football.

Whether a deal eventually gets done is anyone’s guess, but the fact that his own agent was shutting it down completely just days before talks apparently resumed tells its own story. In football, “out of the question” has a funny habit of becoming “done deal” faster than anyone expects, and Klopp’s next chapter, be that in or out of management, may be closer to being written than it appears.
