20 Greatest WWE Superstars of All Time Ranked by Fans
Who is the best wrestler of all time? It is one of the most hotly-debated questions among wrestling fans, and it can depend on a number of things; number of championships won, great matches, impact on the wrestling industry, and so much more that can have an impact on who you see as the best of the best.
It also depends on when you grew up. People who started watching wrestling in the late 2000s and early 2010s might say John Cena is the best to ever do it, but anyone who started watching before then would adamantly disagree with the likes of The Rock, Bret Hart, and Stone Cold Steve Austin being a part of their list.
Ranker.com has made a list of the greatest Superstars of all time, voted for by fans, and there are some iconic names that make the top 20, with the top spot being held by an undisputed all-time great.

Ric Flair
The Nature Boy kicks off the list, and with a career as decorated as his was, it’s very hard to argue. His record of 16 world championships was only broken recently by a man who we will get to later on (although if you ask Flair, the number of world titles he has keeps increasing). Over the course of his career, Flair won eight NWA World Championships, six WCW World Championships, and two WWF Championships.
But the Stylin’, Profilin’, Limousine Riding, Jet Flying, Kiss-Stealing, Wheelin’ n’ Dealin’ Son of a Gun was so much more than his world title record. He was one of the most charismatic wrestlers of all time, and had some legendary rivalries with Sting and Ricky Steamboat. He had the perfect retirement match against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24 (before returning for numerous other matches, most recently in 2022) and his “Wooooooooo!” is still iconic with wrestling fans to this day.
9
Bret Hart
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. Bret Hart is another wrestler whose legacy is still felt in wrestling today. He has inspired wrestlers such as CM Punk and AEW tag team, FTR, as well as pretty much every Canadian wrestler you see today.
Hart was a trailblazer for a more technical style of wrestling, and created a family legacy which is unmatched to this day, with his rivalry against his brother, Owen, creating some of the best matches of all time and his rivalry with Shawn Michaels being one of the most dramatic the WWE has ever seen, with the ‘Montreal Screwjob‘ still referenced to this day.
Hart won five WWF titles, two WCW World Heavyweight Championships, and a number of other titles, but his dedication, skill, and resilience are what makes him an all-time great.
8
Triple H
The Game is someone that caused a lot of controversy over the course of his career, whether it be his “reign of terror” in the early 2000s, the infamous curtain call, or his work with D-Generation X, storming down to WCW in a tank. Triple H was a mainstay of WWE programming from being Hunter Hearst Helmsley in 1995 to his final match.
The King of Kings won 14 world championships in his career, with the final one coming when he won the 2016 Royal Rumble. He has also had some of the most iconic theme songs of all time, with ‘The Game’, ‘My Time’, and ‘King of Kings’ all being legendary among wrestling fans. Now, Triple H is the head of creative at WWE, and leading the company into a new era.
7
Hulk Hogan
Hogan is one of the most iconic wrestlers of all time. He was the face of professional wrestling in the 1980s, and was the first wrestler to really make his way into the mainstream and catapult the WWF to a whole new level with his catchphrases and look, making him the perfect poster-boy.
His slam on Andre the Giant at WrestleMania III is one of the most iconic moments of all time and his matches in the early days of ‘Mania really set the stage for the ‘Showcase of the Immortals’ to become what it is today. He had legendary catchphrases such as: “Whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you?”, and his popularity in the ’80s made him a cultural icon, brother.
6
Randy Orton
The third member of Evolution on this list and the highest, Randy Orton, has had a career decorated with countless titles and legendary rivalries. The Viper became the youngest world champion in WWE history at the age of 24, and in the years since then, he hasn’t slowed down, winning 13 more and becoming one of the all-time greats.
He is another wrestler whose legacy (pardon the pun) has transcended wrestling, with his finisher, the RKO, becoming iconic in pop culture and 2009 Randy Orton being the face of pure evil. Orton is cold and calculated, and even at 46, he is still mixing it up with the best of the best. When he decides to retire, he is a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
5
Shawn Michaels
Undoubtedly one of the best in-ring performers of all time, Shawn Michaels is another wrestler that inspired a generation, with his legendary Sweet Chin Music being seen in pretty much every wrestling match you see today. Like his DX stablemate, Triple H, The Heartbreak Kid is one of the most controversial figures in the company’s history, playing a key role in the ‘Montreal Screwjob’ and countless other incidents during the 1990s.
The Heartbreak Kid is known for stealing the show, adopting the nickname ‘Mr WrestleMania’ because of his iconic matches with Razor Ramon, Kurt Angle, and Bret Hart. His best, though, are his two against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 25 and 26 respectively, with the latter being the perfect retirement match for one of the best to ever do it.
4
John Cena
John Cena is the face of a generation, becoming synonymous with the PG Era of WWE. He broke Ric Flair’s record, winning his 17th World Championship at WrestleMania 41, and he has delivered some of the most iconic matches and rivalries of all time.
Cena is someone else who has broken into pop culture, with his ‘you can’t see me’ becoming an infamous meme. What truly makes Cena an all-time great, however, is his hustle, loyalty, and respect mantra and his charitable work outside of wrestling, especially with the make-a-wish foundation. Cena is one of the GOATs both inside and outside the ring.
3
The Rock
Probably the biggest household name to come out of professional wrestling, The Rock didn’t grace the WWE with his presence with the longevity of others on this list, but he was iconic. He is best known for his charisma and incredible promos. His catchphrases such as “Can you smell what The Rock is cooking?”, “Know Your Role and Shut Your Mouth”, and “Just Bring It!” have become legendary with wrestling fans, and his rivalries with Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, and John Cena defined an illustrious career for The Brahma Bull.
Most recently, he came back as the ‘Final Boss’, teaming with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 against Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes and making appearances at Bad Blood and Elimination Chamber. We are hoping that he returns soon, with a match against Roman Reigns being rumoured for years, but whatever happens, he has become a legend both in the ring and in the box office, and his undeniable star power makes him one of the greatest of all time.
2
Stone Cold Steve Austin
Stone Cold Steve Austin is another man that defined a generation. The Texas Rattlesnake became the face of the WWE during the Attitude Era, the most popular in the company’s history, and a time when professional wrestling was a key part of pop culture.
Austin was a perfect antihero, with his rivalry with Vince McMahon becoming must-see television, and his catchphrases still live on to this day, with his iconic Austin 3:16 promo launching him into infamy, and his “What?” still being heard around wrestling arenas today.
Austin was the face of an era when wrestling was cool, with the glass shatter and the Stunner becoming infamous around the world. Stone Cold won six WWE Championships and was the first ever back-to-back Royal Rumble winner, and his legacy will live on forever.
1
The Undertaker
The Phenom. The Deadman. The Last Outlaw. No one in the history of professional wrestling has had the longevity of The Undertaker, with his career spanning three separate decades, whether that’s as The American Bada** or The Deadman.
It is impossible to mention ‘Taker without mentioning his WrestleMania streak. He went undefeated in 21 WrestleManias before his loss to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30, and in that time, had iconic matches against the likes of Edge, Triple H, CM Punk, Shawn Michaels, and many, many more.
What makes The Deadman one of the undisputed GOATs, though, is that over three decades he refused to break character, whether inside or outside of the ring. He knew the magic of professional wrestling, and kept that magic alive for as long as physically possible. He is a multiple-time world champion and an icon, and whichever way you look at it, he is one of the most important figures to ever grace the sport.

Manuel Neuer Breaks World Cup Kit Rules in Germany vs Curacao
Manuel Neuer has now featured in five World Cups after starting for Germany in their opening 2026 game against Curacao. But he still appears to be unsure about some of FIFA’s rules.
The veteran shot-stopper remains Julian Nagelsmann’s number one in between the sticks despite now being 40 years old and suffering many injuries in recent years. While he had very little to do against the World Cup newcomers on Sunday evening, Neuer did become part of history.
2026 World Cup: Why Dick Advocaat Burst Into Tears Before Germany vs Curacao
The 2026 World Cup has already proven to be an emotional event for many players and managers.
He became the first man to ever concede a goal against the smallest country in the competition’s long history. It’s a record he’ll want to forget quickly, and a 7-1 victory will go a long way towards that.
Manuel Neuer Goes Against Strict Kit Rules
One of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, Neuer will hope to avoid punishment after going against FIFA’s guidelines not once, but twice during the dominant win.
It would be extremely easy for fans to miss the regulations he broke. Neuer disobeyed FIFA Law 4, which states players must wear full-length or short-sleeved shirts. Cutting or altering sleeves in any way is not allowed. The German ‘keeper’s top had clearly been cut, made obvious by the frayed nature of his shorter sleeves.
That would be slightly easier to get away with than the second violation. FIFA don’t allow players to wear an undershirt which is a different colour to the shirt they’re wearing. Contrasting with the green goalkeeper top, the Bayern Munich man donned a white layer underneath.
It’s unlikely Neuer will be retrospectively punished for the offences against Curacao, but he may now be watched closely by officials in his country’s next matches. A referee will often tell a player to go and change when a kit violation is spotted, but that didn’t happen on this occasion.
Neuer Delighted With World Cup Return
The 2014 World Cup winner actually decided to hang up his gloves after Euro 2024, which was held in his homeland. But he ultimately reversed that decision to play under Nagelsmann this summer.
Virgil van Dijk Wants Major World Cup Rule Change After Netherlands 2-2 Japan
Virgil van Dijk has spoken out about a FIFA World Cup rule he believes needs to be changed after the Netherlands’ draw vs Japan.
The clash against Curacao marked the 40-year-old’s 20th World Cup appearance, and he claimed to be ‘overjoyed’. Speaking after the huge win, the revolutionary sweeper-keeper stated:
“It was certainly very special. It makes me incredibly proud to be playing for the national team again, to be out on the pitch with this squad, and to be playing in my fifth World Cup. I am overjoyed about it.”

Man Utd Plot Move To Sign ‘Most Exciting Player at the World Cup’
Manchester United have already made one move in the summer transfer window, agreeing a deal to sign central midfielder Ederson from Atalanta for a fee in the region of £38million.
The Brazilian, a late call-up to Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad following an injury, will undergo a medical in North America this week, ahead of the deal being announced.
Another central midfielder is likely to follow him to Old Trafford, with new manager Michael Carrick keen to bring in at least two, following the exit of Casemiro at the end of his contract in the north west.
New midfield name emerges on Man Utd transfer list
Mateus Fernandes has been heavily linked with a move from Wesrt Ham united, following their relegation to the Championship, with the likes of Carlos Baleba, Sandro Tonali and Aurelien Tchouameni also in the reckoning.
But a name has emerged from the start of the World Cup to – Ayyoub Bouaddi.
The talented 18-year-old made his World Cup debut against Casemiro on Saturday night, outshining the departing Manchester United man and proving he has the capabilities already, at such a tender age, to replace the veteran Brazilian at Old Trafford.
Bouaddi stood out in an impressive Morocco side, helping the African Cup of Nations winners to a 1-1 draw against the Selecao, although they may feel they should have picked up all three points.
Bouaddi enjoyed a 91% passing accuracy during the contest, with 100% of his passes in the final third being accurate – something that will not go unnoticed.

He showed he can do both the attacking side and the defensive side though, with six ball recoveries and five interceptions, while he also won nine duels on the night.
GIVEMESPORT reported at the start of June that United had shown an interest in the teen star, who plays his football for Lille in Ligue Un, monitoring his situation as he himself refused to rule out a move away from France this summer.
Bouaddi price tag may go up during the World Cup
Bouaddi, who has been described as ‘elite’, may only be 18 but has completed his third season of first-team football with the Ligue 1 team, and is considered to be one of the brightest midfield talents in the world.
United have tracked his performances this season, scouting him during a number of matches and could now make a move to sign him this summer. His opening performance at the World Cup may add some figures onto his price tag, which has already been touted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano that interested clubs will need “around €60million to €70million to strike a deal”. The Manchester Evening News described him as “the most exciting player of the tournament so far” and Lille will be “braced for offers” this summer if he continues along the same path during the tournament.

FIFA Make Decision Over Donald Trump and World Cup Final
US President Donald Trump is expected to break FIFA protocol during the 2026 World Cup.
The 47th President of the United States, who turned 80 on Sunday, has made headlines for all kinds of reasons in the build-up to this summer’s showpiece international tournament.
Back in December, Trump was controversially handed the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize award by FIFA president Gianni Infantino at the 2026 World Cup draw.
Since then, the US have been criticised for their handling of World Cup visas, charging travelling fans exorbitant prices and more. They’ve also been locked in a military conflict against Iran, whose national team can reportedly only enter the USA on the day of their World Cup fixtures.
The US and Iran have now agreed a deal to end the war. Trump wrote “let the oil flow!” on Truth Social on Sunday evening, with the Strait of Hormuz set to be reopened.

Trump to Break FIFA Protocol During World Cup Final
Trump was not present at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles to watch the United States begin their World Cup campaign with an emphatic 4-1 win over Paraguay last week. However, he did send his best wishes to head coach Mauricio Pochettino and the team prior to the USMNT’s opening fixture.
Trump will certainly be in attendance for the World Cup final at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19. According to talkSPORT, the US President will also have a big role to play in proceedings.
It’s understood that Trump has been given license to join the World Cup winners in their trophy lift next month, just as he did during last summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.
Trump caused a stir on that occasion by staying on stage when Chelsea’s bemused players lifted the trophy after defeating Paris Saint-Germain in the final.

There could be similar scenes on July 19. FIFA have no objections over Trump breaking presentation protocol by handing the iconic World Cup trophy directly to the winning captain, and remaining in the thick of the celebrations, Ben Jacobs reports.
FIFA protocol usually sees the trophy remaining on a plinth before being carried by a member of the winning team onto the celebration podium.
While sources say FIFA will leave it to Trump’s own discretion whether he stays with the team during the trophy lift or remains with other executives during the ceremony, White House insiders believe the US President will again choose to celebrate with the victorious national team.
Mexican and Canadian officials will also be invited to appear at the closing ceremony, but only Trump is expected to be on the celebration podium with the winning team.
