Oyo Guber Poll: Alli, Folarin meet Tinubu over APC ticket [PHOTOS]
Two major gubernatorial aspirants on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State, Sharafadeen Alli and Teslim Folarin, have held separate meetings with President Bola Tinubu.
DAILY POST gathered that the duo met Tinubu in Lagos recently over their desire to secure the APC ticket ahead of 2027 elections.
Our correspondent reports that Alli, a lawyer who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, is the Ekaarun Balogun of Ibadanland.
He had earlier served as Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government Area, Secretary to Oyo State Government and Chairman of O’dua Investment Company Limited.
Folarin on the other hand is the Agba-Akin Olubadan of Ibadanland. He was the Senate Leader between 2007 and 2011.
Sources said they met Tinubu for his approval and endorsement.
It was learnt that Alli met Tinubu about two days ago while Folarin met the President on Thursday.
Alli in a post on his verified Facebook page, confirmed that he met Tinubu.
The statement read, “I recently had the distinct honor of visiting His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), during this Easter season, a time of renewal, reflection, and hope.
“Our conversation reaffirmed my confidence in his courage, clarity of purpose, and unwavering commitment to Nigeria. Beyond the bold reforms and strategic interventions across key sectors, I saw a leader deeply invested in the well-being of our people, focused not just on policies, but on transforming lives and restoring confidence in our nation’s future.
“He reminded me that leadership is a sacred trust, one that must be exercised with strength, compassion, and a constant awareness that true success is measured by the lives we uplift.
“That message will continue to guide my service. I left the meeting inspired, re-energized, and quietly confident that, with unity and steadfast support, Nigeria is on a steady path toward lasting stability and shared prosperity. May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
Folarin also took to social media to announce his meeting with Tinubu.
In a post on his verified Facebook page, Folarin said, “Yesterday, I had the honour of a father-to-son discussion with our leader and President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.”

YPP names ex-APC secretary Dalatu as Adamawa guber candidate
The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has affirmed a former secretary of the Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Wafarninyi Theman Dalatu, as its governorship candidate in the state.
The YPP affirmed Dalatu in Yola on Friday through a physical, person-to-person count of accredited party members from the 21 local government areas, who lined up to recognise him as the sole governorship aspirant at the Bridgewood Hotel in Jimeta.
The YPP National Secretary, Vidiyeno Bamaiyi, who led other national officers of the party to supervise the exercise, declared Dalatu as the affirmed governorship candidate of the party in Adamawa State, charging him to strengthen the party and ensure the success of its candidates in the different elections in 2027.
In his acceptance speech, Wafarninyi Dalatu said he nurtures the dream of reversing Adamawa State’s poverty index and ensuring prosperity for all through broad economic transformation.
Dalatu is a trained pharmacist who served as Adamawa State secretary of the APC between 2019 and 2023 and participated in the 2023 governorship primary of the APC.
Earlier, between 2011 and 2015, he served in the State House of Assembly as a member representing Hong State Constituency.

Marafa emerges NDC governorship candidate in Zamfara
Senator Kabiru Marafa has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Zamfara State ahead of the 2027 election.
Marafa secured the party’s ticket through a consensus agreement during a meeting held in Gusau, the state capital.
The chairman of the party’s electoral committee, Aminu Jelani, officially announced him as the NDC candidate.
Speaking after the announcement, Marafa thanked party members for their support and promised to provide responsible leadership if elected governor.
He said corruption has slowed development in Zamfara and pledged to promote accountability and the prudent management of public funds.
Marafa also promised to improve governance, raise living standards for residents, and provide equal opportunities for people across the state.
The former senator recently joined the NDC after leaving the ADC, a move earlier confirmed by party leader Seriake Dickson.
According to a statement from the party, Marafa agreed to help strengthen the NDC and lead its activities in Zamfara State.

BREAKING: 2027: Ene-Nwannaji emerges Enugu NDC guber candidate
Prof. James Ene-Nwannaji has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, in Enugu State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ene-Nwannaji was declared winner of the party’s governorship primary election held on Friday, defeating other aspirants including Chief Chinyeaka Ohaa and Senator Gilbert Nnaji.
Announcing the outcome, the Secretary of the NDC in Enugu State, Dr. Sebastine Okafor, said the primary election was conducted across the 17 local government areas of the state in line with directives from the party’s national secretariat.
Okafor stated that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, monitored the exercise.
He also announced the winners of the party’s senatorial primary elections in the three senatorial zones of the state.
According to him, Dr. Chika Obetta emerged as the candidate for Enugu North Senatorial District, Dr. Mrs. Celelia Ikechukwu won the ticket for Enugu East Senatorial District, while Barr. Mrs. Ugochi Ohajekwe secured the party’s ticket for Enugu West Senatorial District.
The party further released names of some House of Representatives candidates.
Dr. Stephen Ugwoke emerged candidate for Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency, while Barr. Chimezie Nwodo won the ticket for Nkanu East/West Federal Constituency.
Barr. Kene Nnadi was announced as candidate for Enugu North/South Federal Constituency, Comrade Felix Ijegalu emerged for Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency, while Barr. Onyebuchi Nwabueze secured the ticket for Igboetiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency.
Okafor added that the remaining list of House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates would be released later.
Reacting to the outcome of the exercise, the NDC Chairman in Enugu State, Dr. Johnpaul Ani, described the primary election as peaceful and well organised.
Ani said the exercise was conducted in line with the party’s guidelines and the Electoral Act 2026.
According to him, the successful conduct of the primary election reflected the party’s readiness for the 2027 general elections.
He urged aspirants who did not emerge victorious to accept the outcome and work with the party ahead of the governorship election scheduled for January 2027.
