‘Goodluck Jonathan, an inexperienced leader’ – Atiku

Published

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has described ex-President Goodluck Jonathan as a “decent” but “inexperienced” leader, attributing some of the challenges during his administration to a lack of adequate leadership preparation.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Atiku said Jonathan’s inexperience contributed to his struggles in effectively managing the affairs of the country.

“I know Goodluck Jonathan very well. He is a decent young man, but also inexperienced, and I believe that contributed to his inability to manage the affairs of the country, particularly when he was faced with challenges,” he said.

Atiku stressed the importance of grooming future leaders through structured training, insisting that leadership gaps must be addressed early.

“What I would like to see is real leadership training in the young, upcoming politicians,” he added.

According to him, investing in the development of younger leaders would strengthen governance and better prepare them to handle national challenges.

Rivers guber: ‘Wait until INEC publishes list of candidates’ – Wike reacts to sacking of Chinda, others by Court

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has addressed those claiming that the court has dismissed his chosen candidate for the Rivers State governorship election, urging them to wait until the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) releases its list of candidates in July.

A court in Rivers State had reinstated leadership Beke and declared all nominations from the recently concluded party primaries in the state as null and void.

The primaries had resulted in Kingsley Chinda, a Wike ally, being selected as the governorship candidate, following the withdrawal of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Additionally, other associates of the Minister also emerged as candidates for the APC in the upcoming 2027 National Assembly and State Assembly elections.

DAILY POST reported that Justice Elfreida Oluwayemisi Williams-Dawodu of the Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt Division, upheld the Rivers State High Court’s decision on Friday, which nullified the Congresses that led to Chief Tony Okocha’s appointment as chairman of the APC in the state.

While discussing political matters in his home state, particularly regarding the dismissal of candidates in the Rivers State rainbow coalition by Mr. Emeke Bekee, the Minister remarked that Bekee lacked proper understanding of the issues at hand and advised him to wait patiently for INEC to announce its list of nominated party candidates before making any assumptions.

“In July, the candidates of the parties will be published by INEC. Let us wait till July. We are tired of hearing from people who have lost out”, the Minister said.

On the teachers’ protest over the abductions in Oyo State, Barr Wike expressed his concern over the abduction of citizens regardless of their professions or where they were located in the country; he, however, reiterated his position that there was no need to politicize the Oyo State abduction as was being done in some quarters.
