I won’t betray you’ — Oyebamiji tells Osun electorate
The All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has assured the electorate that he will not betray their trust if elected.
Oyebamiji gave the assurance on Sunday during an engagement with members of the Nigerian Society of Professional Tailors in Osogbo.
He said the seven-point agenda, unveiled on Friday for the benefit of the masses, would be implemented to the letter.
Represented at the meeting by the Chairman of Civic Engagement of the APC Campaign Council, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, Oyebamiji said that as a true believer in God, who fears and respects the Supreme Being, he will honour whatever promise made during campaign.
The APC candidate stated that his campaign agenda, code-named “PROSPERITY,” was painstakingly designed to meet the needs of the people and reposition the state for greater development.
He gave more explanation on some of the initiatives packed in his 7-points which focused on poverty alleviation, workers’ welfare, job creation, transparency, economic growth, security, education, and renewed investment in infrastructure.
“I want to assure you again that I will not betray your trust if you give me your votes. I am contesting to serve you with all my strength, and I will not disappoint you.
“My newly unveiled seven-point agenda was carefully crafted for implementation when I am elected, and it will drive the growth of the state. Trust me with your votes, and I will keep my promise,” he said.
Oyebamiji, who said the association has people with high level integrity in it, and promised support that can enhance their growth in the profession.
“You are men and women of high calibre. Your contributions to the growth of the state’s economy through your skills cannot be overlooked.
“A major part of the 7 pillars of our action plans, focuses on opportunities for economic growth and support programmes for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This will be fully implemented to strengthen your businesses.
“Trust me with your votes, and I will not betray your trust,” he said.
The APC candidate also urged the electorate to ignore what he described as a campaign of calumny against him, noting that the opposition was already in disarray following the unveiling of his agenda.
“Since I unveiled my action plans, members and leaders of the opposition have been feeling the heat. They are quite intimidated and confused. I put my trust in God Almighty and you. I am certain our action plans will reposition the state when I am elected. Ignore them, and let’s join hands together to bring the APC administration back in the state.
“The agenda was carefully crafted to meet the needs and aspirations of the people and will be faithfully implemented,” he said.
Responding, the Chairman of the association, Rasheed Balogun, commended Oyebamiji for his sincerity and passion to serve the people.
Balogun added that during the period, the APC candidate acknowledged and recognised their group through the office of the civic engagement.
He expressed confidence that Oyebamiji will fulfill his campaign promises.
He also pledged the support and votes of members of the association.

2027: Don’t push Nigeria into chaos — Timi Frank on fresh plot to delist ADC
The former deputy spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress, Timi Frank, has said there is a fresh plot to delist the African Democratic Congress, ADC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement on Monday, Frank said any move to exclude ADC from the ballot in the coming general election would plunge the country into chaos.
Frank warned that any attempt to exclude the ADC and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, would be heavily resisted by Nigerians.
“We have been reliably informed of a fresh plot to use the judiciary and INEC to remove the ADC from the ballot come 2027. The ADC has always been the main target.
“The ultimate objective is to ensure that the ADC and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, do not participate in the 2027 election at all costs,” he said.
According to him, any move to delist ADC would damage Nigeria’s democratic image.
He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and closely monitor what he described as a dangerous pattern being orchestrated by the ruling party in its alleged determination to retain power by every means possible.
“I urge Nigerians to take this warning seriously because a new twist in this plot will soon surface. What is being perfected is a dark agenda designed to silence opposition parties and perpetrate a massive electoral fraud ahead of the 2027 general election,” he alleged.
He further claimed that President Bola was Tinubu’s administration has abandoned democratic norms and is determined to use state institutions and apparatus to destroy opposition parties, especially the ADC.
“I call on the international community, especially the United States’ government, to intervene and ensure that Nigeria does not descend into crisis because of the desperation of those in power.
“The current administration has thrown decorum to the wind and appears determined to truncate democracy for selfish political interests by deploying state institutions against the opposition,” he said.
Frank further warned INEC and the judiciary against becoming “accomplices” in any alleged anti-democratic plot, saying that Nigerians, the international community, and posterity would hold them accountable for their actions.
“We are already aware of what is being planned. Those behind this conspiracy within the presidency are known to us, and their identities will be made available to the international community as individuals who enabled impunity and democratic barbarism in Nigeria,” he declared.
“Nigeria’s democracy must not be disrupted by the desperation of a few individuals who are determined to hold on to power at all costs,” he said.
Frank’s comment comes after Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the ADC, alleged a plot to use the judiciary and other means to delist the party.
Recall that on Friday last week, a high court in Lokoja set aside the earlier judgment that compelled INEC to register it as a political party.

Why Amaechi, five govs dumped Jonathan, left PDP in 2015 – Murray-Bruce
Former Bayelsa senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, has opened up on why former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaeachi, and five other governors dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2015.
In a viral video sighted by DAILY POST, Murray-Bruce attributed the crisis to poor decisions and bad advice former President Goodluck Jonathan was getting from his aides.
He said those around the former President ignored repeated warnings about growing dissatisfaction among key PDP governors.
According to him, some presidential aides failed to treat with urgency the clear signs that major political figures within the party were unhappy and considering defection.
“As I sit here and think about my experience with people who were so incompetent and unconcerned about the people they served, giving silly advice to the Commander-in-Chief, I am amazed. I can’t get over it,” he said.

2027: We’re open to coalition – NDC
Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has hinted at a coalition, saying it is open to discussions with other opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections, while expressing hope that any eventual coalition would rally behind the NDC’s candidates.
The national leader of the party, Seriake Dickson, said this in an interview on ‘Sunday Politics’, a programme on Channels Television.
“As an opposition leader, we will be open. Our party, the NDC, will be open to conversations within that space,” he said.
The former Bayelsa State governor, however, pointed out that he or anyone will not pre-empt those discussions, expressing the optimism that whatever discussions take place would lead to the NDC candidates being backed.
According to the serving Bayelsa senator, he was not claiming superiority, noting that after the nomination process had ended, they would move into another phase of discussions.
Recall that the party has recently been faced with an issue as a Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi state set aside its earlier judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to register it as a political party.
