Turki Alalshikh Footage Shows Controversial Stoppage

Published

on

A simple post made by Turki Alalshikh has led to him having to turn off all comments due to the controversy surrounding Oleksandr Usyk‘s victory over Rico Verhoeven.

With the 11th round entering its final stages, Usyk had the kickboxing legend backed into the corner, throwing and landing punch after punch on the Dutchman, who was knocked to the ground just moments beforehand.

Then, controversy struck, as the referee decided to intervene and wave off the contest, despite Verhoeven looking relatively comfortable on his feet despite the Ukrainian onslaught.

Plenty of boxing fans have been vocal about the stoppage, with the majority thinking it came way too soon, but others have identified yet another problem with the decision… it came after the bell had rung.

If it wasn’t enough that Verhoeven looked comfortable on his feet and the stoppage came after the bell had rung to end the round, the Dutch kickboxer was actually ahead on the judges’ scorecard entering the 12th and final round.

In just his second professional boxing contest, Verhoeven had seemingly taken the boxing world heavyweight champion all the way, and had outboxed him in the process. That was until the referee stepped in and made the decision that he made.

Francis Ngannou has been quick to react to the controversial stoppage.

Plenty within the boxing circles have since reacted to the decision, including Verhoeven himself, who released a statement on his official Instagram account. Fellow mixed martial artist Francis Ngannou also reacted on social media, he himself being a victim of a controversial call when he was beaten by Tyson Fury.

Now, however, it’s a video post made by Turki Alalshikh that has caused further controversy, as it makes the stoppage look so much worse.

Simply sharing his point of view of the conclusion of the bout from ringside, Turki Alalshikh probably didn’t predict the outpouring of anger and frustration that it led to. In fact, he decided to turn off comments on his post in the aftermath, but that hasn’t stopped the fans from quoting the post and sharing their thoughts.

“When you see it from that angle, that is a terrible stoppage,” wrote one user on X, while another said, “If turning off the comments isn’t the biggest tell, I don’t know what is.”

That was a similar theme in a lot of the comments, with a further account stating: “Comments off tells you everything you need to know.”

Plenty of boxing fans are calling out Alalshikh for the decision, with the word ‘corrupt’ being thrown around left, right, and centre, but it’s the referee who decided to get involved, and he clearly saw enough to wave off the contest and give Usyk his 25th professional victory.

Manchester United Eye £35m Galatasaray Full-Back Wilfred Singo

Manchester United are being linked with a move to sign a new full-back in the summer transfer window as they look to improve Michael Carrick’s squad.

The Red Devils have only strengthened in the midfield department so far in the summer transfer window, bringing in Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans from Chelsea and Aston Villa, respectively.

United have also secured the signature of goalkeeper Karl Darlow, but he’s likely to come in and be a backup option for Carrick.

Outside of that, United have been fairly slow with their recruitment, but they might need to get a move on after qualifying for the Champions League.

The Manchester Club needs to build a deeper and more competitive squad in order to compete on all fronts heading into the new season.

According to reports, Manchester United are one of the sides showing an interest in signing Galatasaray full-back Wilfred Singo in the summer transfer window.

The Ivorian defender has an agreement with the Turkish club that he can leave this summer if an interested club meets his asking price.

That fee is believed to be in the region of £35 million, and he’s also keen on making a move to the Premier League this summer.

Singo, described as a freak athlete by Como scout Ben Mattinson, has already rejected a move to Inter Milan due to the fact that he has ambitions of playing in England.

United face competition from a number of Premier League clubs for his signature, and it remains to be seen whether they will make a concrete move.

Right-back unlikely to be a priority

Manchester United's Diogo Dalot rubs his head.

Signing a right-back before the end of the window doesn’t feel like it should be one of United’s biggest priorities.

United already have Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui as options in the right-back position, while Leny Yoro was also used in that position during pre-season.

United need to be focusing on strengthening other positions in the summer transfer window before bringing in a new right back.

The Red Devils have almost solved their midfield situation, and attention should be turning to adding more options in the final third for Carrick.

Worrying Pre-Season Footage of Liverpool’s Alexander Isak Goes Viral

Published

on

By

Football fans have grown increasingly concerned about Alexander Isak after footage of his performance during Liverpool’s 4-2 defeat to Leeds United went viral this week. The Reds had raced into a two-goal lead with just half an hour remaining in Chicago on Sunday night, only to concede four times in a humiliating collapse.

The bigger picture must be considered, with many of Andoni Iraola’s players still building back their form and match sharpness after a long summer break during pre-season. There also remain several key absentees making their way back into the squad after featuring at the 2026 World Cup.

That said, with British-record signing Isak now having had enough time to settle in and prove himself at Liverpool, scrutiny has naturally increased.

After spending much of the 2025/26 season either sidelined through injury or working overtime with coaches to regain his fitness, Premier League viewers are keeping a close eye on the former Newcastle talisman’s progress, with few excuses remaining for him not to be fully fit and firing.

Across four World Cup appearances this summer, Isak scored once and produced three assists for his Sweden teammates, sparking the belief among the Anfield faithful that he was finally ready to contribute more significantly to his club’s attacking output.

In the first compilation of his pre-season performances, however, criticism has come thick and fast, with one X user remarking (watch his highlights below):

“He’s lost his explosiveness, he’s finished at the top level, quite sad.”

A second continued: “He looks dreadful,” as another claimed he’s “not the same player”, and a third wrote: “Where did his speed go.” Elsewhere, a fourth asked: “How has he already lost a step at like 26?” as a fifth concluded: “Liverpool Isak reminds me of Chelsea [Fernando] Torres.”

The concern around Liverpool right now isn’t limited to just their £125 million striker. A social media post earlier this week revealed just how limited Iraola’s options are going into the 2026/27 campaign, and while the recruitment team have spent the last few months addressing the void Mohamed Slaah left behind upon his contract expiry, they’ve completely ignored the problems in defence.

As things stand, Virgil van Dijk and Jeremy Jacquet are the club’s only two fit centre-backs as Joe Gomez once again picked up an injury, while rumours begin to swirl that Jeremie Frimpong may have to be the square peg in the round hole and fill in at the heart of defence at certain flashpoints of the season.

The problem stems from the fact Liverpool already have 16 non-homegrown players. The maximum is 17, so signing Bradley Barcola means the Reds can’t sign any more non-home-grown players, and they need outgoings before buying again.

A reluctance to move on deadwood, as well as spending too much time addressing one area for improvement at a time, is costing the club dearly. Now, it remains to be seen if their new manager is a miracle-worker following his Bournemouth fairytale after all.

Tottenham have opened talks to sign another new defender in the summer transfer window.

Strengthening Roberto De Zerbi’s defence has already been a major priority for Spurs in the summer market.

Jan-Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson have all arrived through the door to strengthen Tottenham’s defensive options.

Spurs have also strengthened in midfield, but it appears they are not done when it comes to defensive reinforcements.

We’re likely to see the North London club bring in new attacking options over the coming weeks, but they appear to be keen to sign reinforcements all over the pitch.

It’s already been an incredibly busy summer transfer window for Tottenham, and they don’t appear to be slowing down.

According to reports, Tottenham have opened talks with the representatives of Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini in the summer transfer window.

Spurs face competition from a number of clubs, including Chelsea and Newcastle, while Atalanta have slapped a £42 million price tag on his head.

Scalvini, described as ‘elite’ by scout Jacek Kulig, is keen on a move to the Premier League this summer, so personal terms are not expected to be an issue.

Although it may seem a little overkill for Tottenham to bring in another defender, they could lose Cristian Romero later in the window.

Zerbi clearly wants to bring in top-level players all over the pitch, so it could be a busy end. It can be a busy few weeks for Spurs.

Romero set to leave Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur Cristian Romero warms up

The reason for Tottenham’s pursuit of Scalvini could be the fact that defender Romero could be leaving the club in the coming weeks.

Inter Milan have reportedly agreed a deal to sign the Argentinian defender this summer as he edges closer to heading through the exit door.

Spurs have already brought in two centre-backs in the summer transfer window, but as mentioned, De Zerbi will want plenty of depth throughout his squad.

Tottenham do face competition when it comes to trying to secure the signature of Scalvini, who stands at around six feet and four inches. It will be interesting to see whether they firm up their interest in the coming weeks.
