ADC announces results of presidential primaries in Kano, Lagos, Kebbi

The African Democratic Congress, ADC has announced results of its ongoing presidential primary election in Kano, Lagos And Kebbi states.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar won the election in the three states, defeating ex-Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatudeen.

In Kano State, Atiku scored 155,995 votes while Amaechi got 15,914 votes. 

Hayatudeen came third with 9,994 votes.

In Lagos State, Atiku scored 37,779 votes while Amaechi and Hayatudeen got 6,791 and 2,261 votes, respectively.

Meanwhile, in Kebbi State, the former VP garnered 65,153 votes to defeat Amaechi, who scored 5,931 votes.

Atiku floors Amaechi in Anambra ADC presidential primaries

Former Nigerian Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has been declared winner of the presidential primary election of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State.

Chairman of the ADC Presidential Primary Election Committee, Hon. Nduaka Nwolisa, made this disclosure on Tuesday in Awka, the state capital.

The exercise saw the former vice president poll a total of 58,566 votes, the highest number of votes recorded among the three presidential contestants in the party.

Nwolisa further noted that Rotimi Amaechi scored a total of 17,085 votes, while the third presidential candidate of the ADC, Alhaji Mohammed Hayatudeen, secured 7,861 votes.

Nwolisa said, “The presidential primary election was held peacefully in Anambra State, and it was well contested among three contestants.

“Atiku, having recorded the highest number of votes with 58,566 votes, is hereby declared the winner of the Anambra State ADC presidential primary,” Nwolisa said.

ADC Primary: Babagana Buhari emerges Borno governorship candidate

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Borno State has declared Babagana Buhari the winner of the party’s gubernatorial primary election, making him the governorship candidate for the 2027 general election.

The Returning Officer of the primary, Adamu Mustapha, announced the result on Monday night, declaring Buhari winner after securing 71,867 votes.

According to Mustapha, the primary election recorded 102,900 registered voters, while 85,567 delegates were accredited to vote.

He said Babagana Buhari defeated other aspirants in the contest, with Sanusi Kashim Ibrahim scoring 1,033 votes and Attom Muhammad Magira polling 4,033 votes.

“By the powers vested in me by the constitution of the ADC and other regulations, I hereby declare Babagana Buhari, who scored the highest votes with 71,867, as the winner of the Borno State ADC gubernatorial direct primaries,” Mustapha stated.

The party also confirmed its consensus candidates for the three senatorial districts in the state.

According to the ADC, Baba Gana Zanna will contest for Borno Central Senatorial District, Idris Mamman for Borno South, while Bulama Fugu Ibrahim will contest for Borno North.

Speaking shortly after the unveiling, the Organising Secretary of the ADC in Borno, Muhammed Bolori, expressed confidence in the party’s chances in the general elections.

Bolori said the party adopted consensus candidates for the senatorial seats to strengthen unity within the ADC ahead of the polls.

2027: Femi Olaniyi emerges SDP consensus governorship candidate in Lagos

The Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Lagos State, Femi Olaniyi, popularly known as Ferrari, has emerged as the party’s consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

Olaniyi, a former chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, in Lagos, emerged during the SDP governorship primary held on Tuesday in Somolu, Lagos.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, monitored the exercise.

Speaking after the primary, the Chairman of the SDP Governorship Primary Electoral Committee for Lagos State, Henry Amike, announced that Olaniyi was unanimously adopted by party delegates and stakeholders drawn from the 20 local government areas of the state.

“Having fulfilled all constitutional and procedural requirements of the party and the provisions of the Electoral Act, and following the consensus endorsement by stakeholders and delegates, I hereby officially declare Mr Femi Olaniyi Ferrari as the duly elected governorship candidate of the SDP for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election,” Amike stated.

hairman of the SDP Governorship Screening Committee in Lagos State, Adegboyega Adeniji, described Olaniyi as a leader with integrity and competence.

“He is a man of integrity, and with the SDP, there is genuine hope for security, peace and prosperity in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole,” Adeniji said.

In his acceptance speech, Olaniyi, who is also the chairman of the Forum of SDP State Chairmen in Nigeria and a former South-West zonal secretary of the party, pledged to deliver a safer and more prosperous Lagos if elected governor in 2027.

He said his administration would focus on strengthening security, improving infrastructure, creating jobs, and enhancing education and healthcare services across the state.

According to him, the outcome of the primary election reflects the collective aspiration of SDP members and Lagos residents seeking improved living conditions and expanded economic opportunities.

“Today’s result is not just my personal victory. It belongs to every member of the SDP and every resident of Lagos who desires safer communities, better schools, cleaner neighbourhoods and real economic opportunities. It belongs to the market woman in Oshodi, the tech entrepreneur in Yaba, the students of UNILAG and the fisherman in Badagry. This is your mandate,” Olaniyi said.

He further assured residents that security and public order would receive immediate attention under his administration, stressing that Lagos must function more effectively and efficiently.

Olaniyi also promised to invest in smart policing and technology-driven security systems to improve safety across communities in the state.
