I won 100%, no contest — Omo-Agege dares critics, mocks claims of NDC primary defeat

Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has dismissed claims that he lost the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, senatorial primary for Delta Central, insisting that he emerged victorious in the exercise.

Speaking during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday, Omo-Agege ridiculed suggestions that he was defeated, saying there was no dispute over the outcome of the primary election.

“If you believe that I lost a primary in NDC, then I have a plot of land to sell to you in the middle of the Atlantic,” he said.

The former lawmaker stated that he won the primary election across all eight local government areas in the senatorial district and expressed confidence that the party would formally confirm the result.

“I won the primaries of the NDC total, as in all eight local government areas. I don’t think there’s any disputing that now. You can take it to the bank that I have won that primary, 100 per cent,” he said.

Omo-Agege disclosed that although he and his supporters were in possession of the results, they had refrained from releasing them publicly in line with directives from the party leadership.

According to him, the NDC had instructed candidates to await the official announcement of results by the party.

He further revealed that the party’s National Executive Committee, NEC, was scheduled to meet on Wednesday to ratify the outcomes of the primaries.

“Today, there’s a NEC meeting of NDC. I’m just five or six days old in the party now, by the way, and I’m told I’m a member of the NEC. At the NEC meeting Today, we’re going to be ratifying those results,” he said.

“At the risk of giving you insider information, I can tell you that there’s no contention whatsoever as to who won the senatorial primary in Delta Central. I won it.

“I am the candidate, but I would rather wait for the party to formally make that announcement,” he added.

2027: North will vote Tinubu to boost 2031 chances – Ex-ACF scribe, Anthony Sani

Former Secretary General of the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, Anthony Sani, on Wednesday said the North would vote for President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Speaking with DAILY POST, Sani said the North would back Tinubu’s second term bid to boost its chances of returning to power in 2031.

He said: “President Bola Tinubu will get the majority votes in the North because the North is hoping to produce the President in 2031 after it has been in the South for eight years.”

The former ACF scribe also said the South-East would vote for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, due to what he described as the politics of zoning.

He said: “Politics of identity called zoning would not allow Igbos to vote against Peter Obi in 2027.This is because this time the President is in the South and is expected to be in the North by 2031.”

Sani further noted that the North would not back Obi’s presidential ambition because the region does not trust him to do just one term.

He added: “As to Peter Obi, the North cannot trust Peter Obi’s pledge to do only one tenure. What is more, the North believes a President Peter Obi will play Gorbachev who presides over the collapse of Soviet Union, since he has not condemned IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu.”

2027: PDP should be commended for bringing Jonathan to rescue Nigeria – Bayelsa Rep, Agbedi

A member of the House of Representatives from Bayelsa State, Fredrick Agbedi, on Wednesday insisted that former President Goodluck Jonathan reserves the right to contest in 2027.

Agbedi also said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, should be commended for bringing Jonathan to rescue Nigeria.

The PDP chieftain disclosed this while featuring on Arise Television’s Morning Show.

According to Agbedi, Nigerians want Jonathan and he can strengthen the chances of PDP returning to power.

He said: “The PDP has spoken severally about Jonathan running and it has almost completed all the processes. The formal handing over of the certificates of returns is in my custody to be presented to Jonathan.

“As a citizen of this country every member of this country should sacrifice for this nation and with the credible transformation he had as President, if PDP wishes to bring the right person to help pull Nigeria out of her precarious situation, what Nigerians should be doing is to commend the PDP and Jonathan because if you don’t sacrifice for your country who else are you going to sacrifice for? Where else are you going to sacrifice?

“If Jonathan will sacrifice for the betterment of Nigeria and people are saying he shouldn’t do that, where do you expect him to go and serve? He is contesting under the platform of the PDP.”

Peter Obi: APC left me, I didn’t leave – Omo-Agege

Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has said he did not leave the All Progressives Congress, APC, insisting instead that the party left him and his supporters in Delta State.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday, Omo-Agege said the APC abandoned him along with over 240,000 of his supporters in the state.

He also defended some of the economic policies introduced by President Bola Tinubu, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy and the flotation of the naira, describing them as necessary reforms he continues to support.

Omo-Agege noted that the same policy direction had also been supported in the past by the former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

He, however, said his political position has not changed, adding that he believes the policies would be better implemented under his current political platform.

He said: “I never left the APC, the APC left me and left my over 240,000 supporters in Delta State.

“Now, when Mr President came up with some of these economic policies, most especially this policy dealing with the Naira flotation, dealing with the subsidy removal. Now, these were policies I supported, and policies I continue to support, but let me tell you this.

“Even though these were policies that were espoused by Mr President, which policies I support, this same policy was also supported by Peter Obi.

“The question becomes, have I changed my opinion about this? No, I have not.

“I just believe that under the new platform that I’ve gone to, these policies will continue, and the people, the majority of Nigerians who have issues with that policy, will feel more confident because they are more comfortable and trust Peter Obi that he will be able to make these policies even work more than Mr President could have done.

“The policies are not bad policies. I supported them the under President Bola Tinubu and I continue to support it.”
