2027: Replace Atiku as your presidential candidate – Babachir Lawal tells ADC
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal, has urged the African Democratic Congress, ADC, to replace Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
Lawal gave this advice in a statement posted on his Facebook page, maintaining that the ADC primary election was massively rigged in favour of Atiku.
According to him, Atiku does not have what it takes to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
He decried that most of his critics had focused on attacking him rather than addressing the issues he raised.
“Indeed I would urge the ADC to replace this man with a more qualified candidate if they want to have any hope of winning the presidential election before INEC timetable runs out on them.
“Since my Kachalla 1 post, almost the whole of Nigeria’s Fulani race has descended on me with all manner of insults and threats,” he said.

There is mounting apprehension within the All Progressives Congress APC in Osun State following the mass resignation of loyalists of the party’s former national scribe, Senator Iyiola Omisore, from the party.
It would be recalled that Omisore contested for the party’s governorship ticket with Mr Bola Oyebamiji before he was disqualified along with six other aspirants.
Efforts for reconciliation seem elusive as the Omisore group remains adamant after it reported that demand for legislative tickets was not endorsed by the party’s hierarchy.
Meanwhile, within a week, more than five prominent members of the Omisore group within the APC have resigned from the party without stating the reasons for their resignations.
Those who resigned include a former Education Commissioner, Oladoyin Bamisayemi; Commissioner for Political Matters, Taiwo Akeju; Special Adviser on Higher Education, Jamiu Olawumi; and former State Lawmaker, Adeyeye Olajide, among others.
Meanwhile, APC members have taken to social media to criticize the decision for the party chieftains to dump the political platform a few months before the governorship election.
Funso Fagbohungbe described Bamisayemi’s move as that of an ingrate, following the latter’s claim of slavery within the party, as Fagbohungbe disclosed that having served as a two-term lawmaker and Commissioner for Education for twelve years, Bamisayemi lack moral right to accuse APC of enslaving party members.
“It is time we take them up for their lies. Bamisayemi served as a two-term lawmaker under Aregbesola, former Governor Gboyega Oyetola appointed him Commissioner for Education, yet he accused the party of enslaving members. His origin is the PDP, and now that he returns to his original party affiliation, he should not accuse our party wrongly,” he said.
Although the defectors have openly declared their next destination, Olawumi was, however, sighted at the Accord party campaign media office along with members of the committee, suggesting that they are joining or working for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election.

Former Minister of Sports and Youths Development, Solomon Dalung, has said he is not proud of the primary election that produced former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.
Dalung made this remark during an interview on a podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye.
He was reacting to the presidential primary election of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
According to him, the coalition is not dead, stressing that it is not as formidable as it was in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
“I’m not proud of the presidential primary that produced Atiku Abubakar because it fell below my expectations. But, of course, that is what we have now, and it is not good enough because I expected that we in the ADC would have done much better than this.
“I was an electoral officer; I witnessed some of these things that happened, and, of course, we should have outgrown them by this stage.
“After 26–27 years of democracy, we should not be talking about rigging of primaries or falsification of results,” he said.
Recall that the ADC recently conducted its primary election, producing Atiku as its candidate and flag bearer.

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kano, Musa Ibrahim Nabanki, has said Nigerians have seen through the Bola Tinubu g/administration and will vote it out in 2027.
Nabanki made the remarks during the ADC stakeholders’ meeting held in Kano on Saturday.
According to him, “The meeting we have today (Saturday) in Kano has proved to us that people love the ADC. People love Atiku Abubakar.”
He said they had been trying to make people see and understand the dire state of insecurity in Nigeria and act now.
“We know Atikur will change the narrative if he becomes President. We know only two parties in Nigeria, ADC and APC,” he said.
Nabanki accused other parties of working for the APC and Bola Tinubu ahead of the polls.
He called on Nigerians to express their frustration by voting out the APC-led administration, citing kidnappings and widespread killings as compelling reasons to take action.
