Manchester United are plotting a summer transfer window move to sign a Wolves player, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

According to a report from journalist Alan Nixon, Manchester United are looking at a deal to bring back goalkeeper Sam Johnstone from Wolves in the summer transfer window.

Johnstone spent time at United as a kid and could be tempted to return to the club to be one of their experienced reserves.

The Wolves goalkeeper wants to return to the North West at this stage of his career, while the Midlands club would be open to a sale.

It’s unclear how much Wolves would charge for Johnstone, but you’d imagine United should be able to get him on the cheap considering he wasn’t their number one.

United do need to offload players in order to secure the signature of Johnstone, and they are seeking departures for both Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

It’s not the first Wolves player that Manchester United have been linked with ahead of the summer transfer window.

Reports have claimed that the Red Devils were leading the race to sign young midfielder Mateus Mane after Wolves were relegated from the Premier League.

Despite plenty of interest from clubs in the Premier League, Wolves manager Rob Edwards recently confirmed that Mane wouldn’t be leaving the club in the summer transfer window.

Juventus are eyeing a number of options for their goalkeeper position having missed out on Champions League football for next season, and Martinez is someone they are keeping a close eye on.

Aston Villa Can Get a Much Higher Fee

While Aston Villa may be in a position where they need to sell players, they don’t need to get fleeced for their top stars.

Martinez isn’t the player he was a few years ago, and his performances have shown that. The club know it too, having looked closely at the transfer market for this summer for potential replacements, and the suggestion is, once again, that they are open to allowing him to move on this summer.
