Rangers Fight To Fend Off Salzburg Move For Danny Rohl
Rangers boss Danny Rohl is wanted by RB Salzburg this summer as the Austrian side look to replace Daniel Beichler at the helm.
But while there is interest, there is no indication that Rohl is forcing an exit from Ibrox, according to reports from the Rangers Review.
The German coach is attracting attention from the Austrian giants after they sacked Beichler following a disappointing Bundesliga campaign.
Rohl previously worked under the Red Bull umbrella during the early stages of his coaching career at Leipzig, and those connections have helped put his name into the conversation for a move back into the organisation.
The Rangers boss is now believed to be among the candidates being considered for the Salzburg role this summer, as the club look to rebuild after falling behind domestic rivals.
Danny Rohl Admired By European side
Rohl arrived at Rangers last October as the replacement for Russell Martin, inheriting a difficult situation at a club desperate for stability. His first season was far from perfect.
Rangers suffered cup defeats to Celtic and ended the Premiership campaign in third place after a late collapse in the title race that saw the Ibrox side lose four of their last five Scottish Premiership fixtures.
However, despite those setbacks, Rohl retains admirers within the Red Bull structure, including former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. The former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund manager was appointed as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer in 2024, taking responsibility for the strategic direction of the company’s football operations.
Thirty-seven-year-old Rohl has built a reputation as one of Europe’s most promising young coaches, with previous experience at Bayern Munich, the German national team and Sheffield Wednesday before making the move to Glasgow.
On paper, Rohl is a young, progressive coach with Red Bull experience who fits the long-term model of Salzburg. However, any potential move is far from straightforward.
Rangers hold the cards as they fight to keep Rohl
The Austrians would first have to agree compensation with Rangers before formal talks could progress. Rohl is under contract at Ibrox until at least 2028 and there is no release clause, meaning Rangers hold a strong negotiating position if they decide to fight to keep him.
The financial side could prove decisive. Salzburg have other candidates under consideration and reports suggest they are still some distance away from meeting Rangers’ expectations.
Gers’ chairman Andrew Cavenagh publicly backed his manager last month, insisting the club believes Rohl is the right man to lead the next title challenge. He said via Rangers TV:
Danny is our coach. We think that Danny gives us the best opportunity to win the league next year.
Rangers return to pre-season training next week, with striker Lawrence Shankland currently the only summer arrival.
Cavenagh has already made it clear the club’s focus is not simply adding talent, but improving mentality, leadership and squad balance. That vision is built around the German.
Should he leave, Rangers would once again be forced into a major reset. Since 2017, the club has gone through a remarkable number of managerial changes, with Rohl becoming the seventh permanent appointment in nine years, following Pedro Caixinha, Steven Gerrard, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Michael Beale, Philippe Clement and Russell Martin. With Graeme Murty and Barry Ferguson also having extended interim spells in charge. For a club trying to establish stability, another change would be far from ideal.

At this stage, Rohl’s situation looks more like interest than anything formal. Salzburg may admire him, Klopp’s influence may strengthen the connection and the Red Bull link may be attractive, but Rangers still hold the cards.
And with a full pre-season around the corner, with a training camp in Austria of all places on the schedule, the expectation within Ibrox remains that Rohl will be leading the next chapter.

Tottenham Get Green Light to Sign Maghnes Akliouche
Tottenham Hotspur could finally complete a deal for a player they were heavily linked with signing during the last summer transfer window.
So far this summer, even though the transfer window is not yet officially open yet, Spurs have been mostly focused on defensive reinforcements, with Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi already arriving on free transfers from Liverpool and Bournemouth respectively.
Spurs have also seen two bids rejected by Brighton & Hove Albion for centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke and GIVEMESPORT understands Tottenham will go back to the south coast club with a third offer, likely to be in the region of £60million.
Spurs are in advanced talks to sign Savinho
But the north Londoners will also be keen to improve their attacking lineup for new head coach Roberto De Zerbi. Manchester City winger Savinho has been linked with a move to N17, with the two clubs in talks over a deal for the Brazilian.
Savinho was another who was linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but Spurs could not get a deal over the line after the Citizens backed out of an agreement.
And now Maghnes Akliouche, linked with Spurs last year, has given the green light for the Lilywhites to reignite their interest. Tottenham found a deal too difficult to get done last summer, but now, with Akliouche looking to move, they might find things easier.
According to a report in Get Football News France, the 24-year-old was asked about his club future, while on duty with France at the 2026 World Cup in America, Canada and Mexico.
Asked by Nice-Matin whether the next step for him would be a transfer, Akliouche responded in the affirmative, although he caveated that by saying: “But I am focused on the World Cup. [The World Cup] is a huge window of opportunity but I am focused on the national team’s objectives. I don’t want to disrespect my club by talking about the transfer window now.”
Akliouche will have plenty of suitors this summer
If Spurs do intend to reignite their interest in the highly-rated forward, they will likely face competition from the likes of Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City for his signature.
Akliouche has just two years left on his current contract at AS Monaco, with this summer being the perfect time for the French club to sell to get optimum value for his services.

Man Utd About to Submit £65m Offer to Sign Mateus Fernandes
Manchester United are planning to launch a huge first offer to sign West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes imminently, according to Football Transfers.
Man United had been looking to wrap up some of their summer transfer business before the World Cup kicked off on Thursday night, with one deal over the line after they reached a full agreement, pending a medical, to sign Brazilian midfielder Ederson from Atalanta.
The Red Devils have been tipped to be the busiest Premier League club in the summer transfer window by David Ornstein, so there will be a lot more business to come.
United chiefs are looking at bolstering different areas of the pitch, like at left-back, the left wing position and potentially in goal too, should Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana depart Old Trafford, but there is no question that the main priority is their central midfield rebuild.
Ederson is the first piece of the puzzle there following the exit of Casemiro, with Manuel Ugarte expected to join the Brazilian in leaving the club this summer.
While Michael Carrick will have Ederson and Kobbie Mainoo at his disposal if Ugarte goes, he will have few specialist senior options for the position beyond that.
It has been suggested that United could sign two more midfielders after the Atalanta star, although one is a certainty.
Man United Planning ‘Serious’ £65m Offer for Fernandes
According to Football Transfers, Manchester United are planning on submitting an offer to West Ham for Manuel Fernandes ‘in the coming days’.
The 21-year-old has emerged as a top target for the Red Devils with a deal for Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson looking to be out of reach after Manchester City had a bid worth a total of £120m rejected by their Premier League rivals.
Fernandes is expected to leave West Ham by the end of the transfer window, and sources have told Football Transfers that the Red Devils are expected to make a ‘serious’ offer worth £65m imminently.
That offer is below the Hammers’ valuation of the ‘incredible’ one-cap Portugal international however, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the Championship club are demanding £85m for their midfield sensation.

Man United Targeting Second Premier League Midfielder
Following Manchester City’s rejected Anderson bid, United are now looking elsewhere at midfielders that they think want to join them in the summer transfer window, according to Ornstein.
Fernandes is one of those, with Bournemouth’s Alex Scott another.
Like the Portuguese midfielder, Scott enjoyed another impressive season for the Cherries as they qualified for the Europa League next season.
And, like Fernandes, the 22-year-old also narrowly missed out on a spot in his nation’s World Cup squad, having been overlooked by Thomas Tuchel for his 26-man team.
According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Bournemouth value the Englishman at £80m ahead of the summer transfer window, with two years remaining on his contract at the Vitality Stadium.
United also continue to have an appreciation of Carlos Baleba of Brighton and Hove Albion, with an agreement on personal terms dating back to last summer already in place for the Cameroon international.

Supercomputer Predicts Entire F1 Race From 22nd to 1st
The 2026 Formula One season completes its first European double-header this weekend in Barcelona. It is the first of two races in Spain this season and will be another big weekend in the race for the title.
The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has been an ever present on the F1 calendar since 1991. The race was won by McLaren‘s Oscar Piastri last season in a race which included a notable incident between George Russell and Max Verstappen.
It is Russell who needs a big weekend here this year, as his teammate, Kimi Antonelli, has gained 50 points over the Brit in the past two races. Because of this, it’s now Lewis Hamilton that sits second in the Drivers’ Championship, 66 points behind the Italian teenager.
We have asked the Supercomputer to predict who will come out victorious in Spain this weekend, and here’s how it’ll look.

Pierre Gasly
Alpine
Pierre Gasly comes into this race full of confidence, having had his podium finish in Monaco reinstated following an appeal. The Frenchman had finished in third last time out but was demoted to seventh following penalties for speeding in the pit lane.
Alpine successfully appealed, however, and he was reinstated as a podium finisher. The Supercomputer thinks he will be unable to recreate his Monaco performance this time out, though, and will only come away with a single point.
9
Franco Colapinto
Alpine
Argentine Colapinto had a troubled race last time out in Monaco, finishing in 14th. The Supercomputer predicts a better weekend for him in Barcelona, though, and even thinks he will finish ahead of his Alpine teammate.
8
Isack Hadjar
Red Bull
Isack Hadjar had a great race in Monaco, managing engine issues fantastically well. The 21-year-old Frenchman has had a solid start to his Red Bull career and sits just 14 points behind teammate, Max Verstappen. He is, however, predicted to drop further back and only pick up four points here.
7
Max Verstappen
Red Bull
The four-time champion didn’t even complete the first lap in Monaco after an engine issue caused him to crawl off the start line, plummeting him from second on the grid to dead last.
F1 Team Principal Starting to ‘Question’ Whether He Should Keep Driver After Poor Start
The futures of some drivers are already being questioned after a handful of races in the 2026 season.
The Dutchman has been left frustrated this season, caused by a mixture of the new regulations and the poor performance of his Red Bull car. The Supercomputer believes he will finish seventh at the venue where he picked up his maiden victory.
6
Charles Leclerc
Ferrari
Charles Leclerc suffered heartbreak in his home Grand Prix last weekend, crashing out late on in the race while sitting in third place. The Monegasque will be fuelled by the disappointment of that race, but will only finish sixth, according to the Supercomputer.
5
Lando Norris
McLaren
Reigning champion Lando Norris suffered a second consecutive retirement last weekend in Monaco. Yet another power-unit issue has derailed any chance the Brit has had of defending his title. He is predicted to come home in fifth position, bringing back a solid haul of 10 points.
4
George Russell
Mercedes
George Russell has now gone five races without a win after winning the season opener in Melbourne. The Brit suffered a retirement in Canada and then a frustrating race in Monaco, which saw him receive a drive-through penalty for not correctly serving a five-second penalty, and caused him to finish outside the points, dropping him to third in the standings.
Regardless, he was off the pace last weekend and struggled in comparison to his teammate, and the Supercomputer predicts a similarly challenging weekend, and for Russell to be missing out on the podium.
3
Oscar Piastri
McLaren
Last year’s race winner Oscar Piastri is predicted by the Supercomputer to grab a podium spot this weekend, which would bring his total for the season to three. The Aussie has finished on the podium in both Japan and Miami this season. He finished fifth last weekend in Monaco and is hoping to go on a run of high points-scoring finishes.
2
Lewis Hamilton
Ferrari
Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton has moved himself into second position in the standings after being runner-up last weekend in Monaco. The 41-year-old has enjoyed a successful season so far and is hoping to have his first full race victory with Ferrari soon.
Lewis Hamilton’s Awkward Response to Kimi Antonelli Trolling Kim Kardashian With Towel Video
Mercedes poked fun at Kim Kardashian for stealing Kimi Antonelli’s towel after the Monaco Grand Prix, and Lewis Hamilton has now reacted.
He had previously won a Sprint Race for the team back in China last season, but is predicted to just fall narrowly short of victory here in Barcelona this weekend.
1
Kimi Antonelli
Mercedes
Kimi Antonelli secured a fifth consecutive victory in Monaco and extended his championship lead to 66 points after just six races. The Italian teenager looks unstoppable just now and is hoping to run off even further with the championship lead.
The Supercomputer is predicting he will extend his lead over Lewis Hamilton by another seven points here and also gain another 13 points on teammate George Russell, which would make the gap between the Mercedes drivers 81 points.
