The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Halilu Danladi Envu-Alanza, as the winner of the Nasarawa North Senatorial District by-election.

This was announced by the Returning Officer, Prof Aminu Ali, on Sunday in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.

Ali stated that Envu-Alanza secured 45,362 votes to defeat the Labour Party candidate and former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, who polled 12,931 votes.

Following Maku was Emmanuel David Ombugadu of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who polled 11,570 votes.

“Halilu Dangadi Envwulanza of APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared a winner and is returned elected,” Ali declared.

The by-election was held to fill the seat of the late Senator Godiya Akwashiki.

DAILY POST reports that Maku had earlier alleged BVAS malfunctions and ballot irregularities in some polling units.

President Bola Tinubu has described the re-election of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, as a clear vote of confidence in continuity, stability and people-centred governance.

Tinubu said this in his congratulatory message to the governor on his victory in Saturday’s governorship election.

DAILY POST recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday morning declared Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the winner of the election.

Tinubu commended the people of Ekiti State for their peaceful and orderly conduct, and for reposing their trust in Governor Oyebanji. He equally commended law enforcement agencies for maintaining law and order.

Tinubu charged INEC to continue to conduct peaceful, free, fair and credible election as the nation approaches the Osun governorship election in August and the general election next year.

“With his overwhelming victory in the election, Oyebanji has emerged as the first governor in the history of Ekiti State to win re-election back-to-back.

“Governor Oyebanji’s first term was marked by significant strides in infrastructure, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare, and rural development under his agenda.

“The renewed mandate is therefore a clear vote of confidence in continuity, stability, and people-centred governance,” the President said in a statement released through his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State, Senator Ayo Arise, has congratulated Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his victory in the June 20, 2026 governorship election.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, Arise described Oyebanji’s victory at the poll as a testament to his commitment to the development of the state.

Arise commended Ekiti voters for coming out enmasse to vote for Oyebanji and his deputy, Mrs Monisola Afuye, for a second term, adding that the action would facilitate more infrastructure and other development across the state.

According to him, the continuity of Governor Oyebanji in the state will witness further transformation strides in roads, education, health, agriculture, civil service and other sectors.

The 2027 Ekiti North Senatorial District hopeful, however, stressed the need for unity, justice and fairness within the APC in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
