2027: Again, PRP clears air on selling nomination forms to Kwankwaso
The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has clarified that the party did not sell any nomination forms to the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Rabi’u Kwankwaso.
Baba-Ahmed made this clarification on Tuesday when he appeared as a guest in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’.
He was reacting to the allegation that Kwankwaso bought 69 nomination forms to take control of the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The National Chairman echoed PRP secretary, Alhaji Musa Maigari, who described the allegation as false, insisting that Kwankwaso neither purchased nomination forms nor has any official connection with the party.
According to him: “This is complete fiction, and I am grateful for the opportunity to clarify this. The real state chairman of the PRP in Kano had released a statement saying this is just a complete lie.
“There’s no way Kwankwaso could have bought 69 forms from the PRP in Kano. We don’t sell forms in Kano. We sell forms from Abuja.
“The man who claimed that 69 forms were sold to Kwankwaso is not known to the party. He holds no position, has no authority to sell nomination forms on behalf of the party, and we do not recognise him.
“It is possible that this entire thing has been contrived as part of some problems or some politics in Kano. As far as the PRP is concerned, we sold forms to everybody else from Abuja.
“We sold forms to candidates from Kano. They registered, they contested, they went through primaries more than a month ago.”

Obi vs Tinubu: APC called for parallel govt in 2015 – Arise TV’s Rufai knocks Onanuga
Media personality and Arise News anchor, Rufai Oseni has slammed Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s media aide, over recent attack on the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, Peter Obi.
DAILY POST reports that Obi, on Monday called for President Tinubu to emulate the U.K. Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, by tendering his resignation, citing the administration’s inability to tackle the nation’s economic and security crisis.
Responding to Obi’s call, Onanuga, in a statement, described Obi’s position as puerile, stating that the former governor of Anambra State is being childish.
Reacting to the backlash during a morning program on Tuesday, Rufai Oseni recalled how the All Progressives Congress, APC, called for a parallel government prior to 2015 when the party took over the government.
According to Rufai, the same maladministration that prompted APC’s call in 2014 is currently being witnessed in the Tinubu-led government.
He said, “Was the APC also childish when it called for the resignation of Goodluck Jonathan? What they said Jonathan should resign for has happened under them too.
“This was the same APC that called for a parallel government if they didn’t win the 2015 election. Do you know what parallel government is? That’s anarchy.
“They didn’t only say it, they went to defend it on television. So Obi called for resignation and they said it is puerile”.

Taraba: APC chieftains warn against move to overturn ruling party’s primary results
The All Progressives Congress, APC, stakeholders in the Taraba State North Senatorial District have warned against a move to overturn the results of the senatorial primary result.
Stakeholders in the ruling party, Abubakar Umar Ibrahim and Bilal Galadima, gave the warning in a press release on Monday.
Recall that APC had conducted its primary on May 19th, 2026.
The results from the primary were greeted with controversy as Kabir Bello and Senator Isa Lau laid claim to victory.
However, the APC national body is yet to declare the actual winner of the senatorial poll.
But in a fresh concern directed at party leaders, Ibrahim and Galadima insisted that the ruling party must respect the will of the people and declare the true winner.
“It has come to our attention that certain individuals within the party are allegedly orchestrating clandestine moves to undermine and overturn the credible outcome of the Taraba North primary.
“Any attempt to alter, manipulate, or subvert this duly declared mandate will not only violate party rules but will also erode public confidence in our democratic process,” they stated.

Planned protest aimed at deflecting political killings probe – APC campaign council
The Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council has alleged that a planned protest by Senator Lere Oyewumi, the Senate Deputy Minority Leader, over the death of Ezekiel Olopade was intended to divert attention from unresolved investigations into previous political killings in Irewole Local Government Area.
In a statement signed by the Head of its Media and Publicity Committee, Engr Oluremi Omowaiye, the council expressed sympathy with Olopade’s family and said it supported lawful efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death. However, it accused the senator of exploiting the incident for political purposes.
“The Council is convinced that the proposed protest is not motivated by any genuine concern for justice but is instead a desperate attempt to divert public attention from ongoing investigations into the murders of two prominent APC chieftains, Saheed Oyegunju and Hon. Remi Abass,” the statement read.
According to the council, “Oyegunju, who served as APC Treasurer in Ward 9 of Irewole Local Government Area, was abducted and later found dead in February 2023 while travelling to an APC presidential campaign rally in Osogbo. Allegations had persisted regarding the involvement of Oyewumi and some of his associates in the incident.”
The council claimed that suspects arrested in connection with Oyegunju’s killing were later released under circumstances that had continued to generate questions among members of the public and the bereaved family.
Referring to the killing of Remi Abass, the former Chairman of Irewole Local Government, who was murdered within the council secretariat in February 2025, it stated that, “Reports indicated that some suspects arrested over the incident allegedly mentioned influential political figures, including Oyewumi, during investigations.
“These allegations deserve a thorough, impartial and professional investigation by law enforcement agencies without interference from any quarter.”
The APC campaign body raised concerns over the whereabouts of Jide Jọda, whom it described as a suspect linked to the murder case and alleged to have absconded after being granted bail and claimed that despite being declared wanted by the police, he remained at large and was allegedly receiving protection from unnamed political interests.
The council called on Oyewumi to submit himself to security agencies for questioning over the allegations surrounding the killings, insisting that public protests could not replace accountability under the law.
It also urged the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, to ensure that all suspects linked to political killings in Osun State are
apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law, adding that justice should be pursued for all victims of political violence, irrespective of status or political affiliation.
In a swift reaction, the media unit of Senator Lere Oyewumi in a statement sent to DAILY POST, stated that the Police have never invited Senator Lere Oyewumi in connection with the killing of anyone because he has never been associated with criminal activities.
The statement continues, “On the day late Remi Abass died, the distinguished Senator was attending plenary proceedings in Abuja. This is a matter of public record.
”Senator Oyewumi’s political journey has been built on hard work, consistency, and a genuine passion for public service. He has won several elections without resorting to violence, and even when he lost the 2019 senatorial election, he did not challenge the outcome at the tribunal. His conviction has always been that no political ambition is worth the blood of any human being.
”The people of Ikire know those who have been responsible for acts of violence and intimidation in the town. They also know that late Remi Abass had previous encounters with law enforcement authorities, including records with the State CID.”
The statement also added that, “It is deeply unfortunate that the Osun APC and its gubernatorial candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, are attempting to rationalise or justify the killing of a 14-year-old boy in Ilobu.
”Allegations have also been raised regarding the use of branded vehicles during acts of violence, and such claims deserve proper investigation by the appropriate security agencies.
”Every loss of innocent life deserves condemnation. If one cannot sympathise with the bereaved family, the least one can do is allow others to mourn in peace rather than offer explanations that appear to excuse violence. The growing pattern of political intimidation and violence is troubling.”
It maintained that all those found culpable of criminal acts, regardless of political affiliation, should be brought to justice in accordance with the law.
