Yan Diomande Agrees Personal Terms to Join Liverpool

Published

Liverpool have reached a major breakthrough in their bid to make a blockbuster summer signing for new manager Andoni Iraola, according to reports in France.

Having appointed a new boss and lost key players from the Anfield dressing room in Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate, it has been clear that there will be changes to the playing squad before next season.

Liverpool have already got their summer business underway after signing left-winger Victor Munoz from under the noses of Premier League rivals Newcastle United, with the Spain international set to compete for a spot on the wing against Cody Gakpo, who has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The Reds could make a new addition in central midfield with links to the likes of Adam Wharton, Mateus Fernandes and Alex Scott of Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Bournemouth respectively, but securing a long-term replacement for Salah appears to be key to their summer plans.

The Merseysiders have identified RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande as their number one target to replace the Egypt international, but finding an agreement with the German club has proved difficult as they demand up to €130m (£112m) for his services.

Liverpool have made one breakthrough to try and complete a deal though.

According to French outlet MediaFoot, Liverpool and Iraola have been handed a big double boost in their bid to land Diomande in this transfer window.

The report claims that not only have the Reds reached an agreement with the Ivory Coast international over personal terms, but that Paris Saint-Germain are set to leave the race to sign the 19-year-old because of Leipzig’s huge asking price.

Of course, Liverpool still need to find an agreement with the Bundesliga outfit on an acceptable price, but with buy-in from the player and a seemingly clear run at securing his services, they are in a strong position.

The Reds have already seen a bid worth €100m rejected by Leipzig, with the offer broken down as €80m plus €20m in add-ons, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.

Make no mistake, Liverpool look like they will have to pay more than £100m if they want to sign Diomande, and that is clearly a huge fee for someone who has played one season of regular first-team football.

However, the 19-year-old’s talent is there for all to see, as he displayed at the 2026 World Cup when he produced a man-of-the-match display in the Ivory Coast’s opening group match win against Ecuador.

The teenager has explosive pace that sees him beat opposition full-backs easily, while he also has the trickery on the ball to turn defenders inside out.

What is most impressive about the teenager is the fact that he is producing solidly when it comes to goal contributions despite his tender years, while he has also shown brilliant work defensively to help his teammates at club and national level.

One German-based journalist has claimed that Diomande ‘reminds him of Antoine Semenyo’, who Iraola knows only too well from the duo’s time together at Bournemouth.

If Liverpool can land Diomande, Iraola may well have found his next Semenyo to work with.

Cristiano Ronaldo Angered by Lionel Messi Question at World Cup

Published

Cristiano Ronaldo has finally arrived at the 2026 World Cup. The 41-year-old netted twice as Portugal demolished Uzbekistan 5-0 in their second Group K match.

It wasn’t the most ideal start to the World Cup for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. Portugal could only muster a 1-1 draw with DR Congo in their opening match and Ronaldo came in for much of the criticism.

Reports of internal fallouts between players and even their partners had begun to surface between their first two fixtures, so the win couldn’t have come at a better time for Ronaldo and his team.

But despite the Portuguese captain turning in a Man of the Match performance, a familiar name started to get mentioned in his post-match interviews, and Ronaldo was in no mood to discuss it.

Ronaldo Snaps at Mention of Messi’s Name

Despite his record-breaking night in Houston, where he became the first player to score in six different World Cups, Ronaldo grew visibly irritated when the conversation turned to Lionel Messi.

The Argentine has enjoyed a sensational start to the tournament, scoring five times in his opening fixtures and breaking Miroslav Klose’s all-time scoring record at the World Cup, but Ronaldo made it clear he has no interest in keeping tabs on his long-term rival.

When pressed on the subject of Messi, Ronaldo immediately stormed out, but not before snapping back:

“I couldn’t care less about others… Mbappe also scored.”

Watch Ronaldo storm out below:

It wasn’t an isolated moment, either. Footage also caught a separate incident in which Ronaldo turned away and began taking questions from another journalist the second Messi’s name was mentioned again.

The Messi-Ronaldo Rivalry Rumbles on

Messi and Ronaldo

Ronaldo’s reluctance to engage with Messi’s name is hardly surprising given the pair’s rivalry has defined the past two decades of football.

Both men have continued to add to their World Cup legacies in 2026, with Messi netting five times in Argentina’s opening two fixtures and Ronaldo now level with the conversation after his double against Uzbekistan moved him clear of Eusebio as Portugal’s all-time leading scorer at the tournament.

The pair’s paths could yet cross before the tournament concludes, with both nations well-placed to progress through the knockout stages now that Portugal recovered from their initial stumble so emphatically.

A potential meeting between Argentina and Portugal in the knockout rounds could be the last chapter in a rivalry that has shaped a generation of football, even if Ronaldo seems keen to keep the focus away from fuelling the debate further.

Tottenham Eyeing Move For Brian Brobbey

Tottenham are showing interest in a Premier League striker this summer, according to TeamTalk, as focus shifts to potential signings up front.

The change in direction follows the Lilywhites bolstering their defence, with three signings already confirmed to help tighten up a leaky backline for next season.

The midfield is a problem area, with Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes viewed as ideal potential candidates to fill the void, and then there’s the forward areas.

Tottenham are keen on wingers, with Cody Gakpo and Savinho emerging as options, but they may not be the only arrivals in the forward areas.

Strikers are being considered, and there’s a World Cup ace on the club’s radar.

Tottenham Linked With Brian Brobbey Transfer

As links continue to emerge over potential transfer options, TeamTalk reports that Sunderland and Netherlands striker Brian Brobbey is being monitored by Tottenham.

The report claims that Spurs have been tracking the 24-year-old before he made the move to the Black Cats, and retain an interest in him to this day.

The former Ajax star, who is ‘an absolute freak of a number nine’ according to one analyst on X, is attracting interest beyond North London as well, however, as Manchester United, Chelsea, and Aston Villa have all been credited with admiration for the striker.

Brobbey, who scored seven goals in 31 appearances last season, is under contract at Sunderland until 2029, and the club currently has no interest in facilitating a sale just one-year on from signing him.

There is no price set on the centre-forward, though the report does suggest that an offer could yet test their resolve in the market.

It remains to be seen whether any club will step forward, with his World Cup performance so far suggesting that he has plenty more to offer in the future.

Ronald Koeman handed Brobbey his first start in the tournament against Sweden, where he bagged two goals and ran the defence ragged with his relentless physical ability, and showed why he has been described as “excellent”.

It showed exactly what Tottenham could have, and what the side are currently lacking in the forward areas.

Tottenham Need Striker Presence

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi celebrates win at Aston Villa via Reuters

Tottenham have lacked a lot of things in the past few seasons, but since the exit of Harry Kane, the lack of presence up front has been noticeable.

Dominic Solanke was signed as the replacement, but a mixture of injuries and just a general lack of impact means he is still trying to get his Spurs career off the ground.

Richarlison is inconsistent at best. He can put himself about, but rarely in a way that will hold up the ball and bring others into play like Roberto De Zerbi would want.

Talks Held: Tottenham Make Contact to Sign ‘Elite’ Forward Instead Of Savinho

Tottenham have made contact over a potential transfer for one star, while talks continue for Savinho.

So, therefore, a move in the transfer market for someone who does all of that makes total sense. Brobbey has his flaws, and would certainly be a work in progress, but he has shown good glimpses in the past six months of what he can do.

Whether he’d be the perfect fit for what Tottenham would want right now remains to be seen. But he would certainly add something the team has been lacking.

Bodycam Footage Emerges of UFC Legend’s Arrest

Police bodycam footage has emerged showing the moment retired UFC legend Dustin Poirier was arrested at an airport. It makes for concerning viewing.

Former interim lightweight champion Poirier was beloved for his fan-friendly style in the Octagon during his career, but has now hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The 37-year-old was taken into custody by police in Georgia on Sunday evening and later charged with public drunkenness. A clip had already emerged of Poirier wrestling with fans at a bar in the hours before his arrest, but the new footage shows just how badly things escalated shortly afterwards.

What Dustin Poirier Did Before Getting Arrested at an Airport

The full story of exactly what led to the charges against Poirier has become clear after the Atlanta Police Department released bodycam video of his arrest at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

After apparently being removed from a flight due to his being intoxicated, ‘The Diamond’ became agitated to the point that airline staff called for police assistance at the gate.

Shockingly, Poirier then proceeded to challenge the officer to a fight as he fumed:

“Let’s go big dog.”What’s up? Bunch of hoes. Let’s go. Let’s go. Yeah, pull me off the plane. All my boys went to the f****** crib. Now what the f***”

The officer immediately recognised the fighter as he asked: “Are you Dustin Poirier?”

The Louisiana native then doubled down on his desire to fight the officer, while also threatening other airport staff nearby.

“Man, f*** you, bro,” Poirier said. “Man, f*** her and f*** her. I’ll fight you right now. I’ll go with you right now. Let’s go. Let’s go. Tell them. Tell them. It’s going to be bad. It’s going to be bad, my (expletive). What’s up? You want to fight. You want to fight?”

The UFC star even tried to square up to the arresting officer with his fists up. At this point, the officer appeared to reach for his tazer to subdue Poirier, although he never deployed it as Dustin eventually calmed down.

As he was led away in handcuffs, Poirier even asked the arresting officer for a fist bump, insisting, “You did a great job, you did what you could.”

Poirier was formally charged with the offence during a court hearing on Monday morning. If found guilty, he faces up to a year behind bars, together with a $1,000 fine.

In the aftermath of his arrest, Poirier issued a brief seven-word statement in which he confirmed he was “working on himself” in an effort to get his personal life under control.

The veteran fighter has been open about his struggles to adjust to life following retirement from the UFC. After leaving his gloves in the cage after his loss to Max Holloway at UFC 318 last July, Poirier has previously stated that he felt like a part of him “had died” since walking away from competition.
