Police arrest seven suspects, recovers stolen car, three firearms, N1.1m in Ogun
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested seven suspects and recovered a stolen Toyota Venza, three firearms, an operational vehicle, 17 mobile phones, a laptop and ₦1.1 million in a series of intelligence-led operations across the state.
The Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, in a statement on Sunday, said the arrests were made between Ilaro, Ibafo, Mowe, Adatan and Ode-Remo areas of the state.
The suspects Bola Salau, 42; Segun Balogun, 25; Ankpa James, Tunde Ogunseye, 41; Owodunni Seun, 36; Emmanuel Friday; and Tunde Abioye were arrested for offences including armed robbery, one-chance robbery, fraud, unlawful possession of firearms and cultism.
According to the statement, the first two suspects were intercepted with a stolen blue Toyota Venza during routine stop-and-search operation along the Oja-Odan/Ilaro Road in the Olorunlekan area of Ilaro.
“A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of its original registration documents concealed beneath the carpet.
“Detectives subsequently traced the rightful owner in Ede, Osun State, who confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen during a violent armed robbery attack on his residence on 23rd June, 2026, when about five armed men robbed him and members of his family of their valuables before making away with the vehicle.
“Operatives of Ibafo Division arrested two suspected members of a notorious One-Chance robbery syndicate operating within the Magboro axis, following complaint by a woman, who reported that she was dispossessed of her Samsung A16 mobile phone valued at ₦295,000 and ₦120,000 cash by unknown men operating a One-Chance vehicle.
“Acting on credible intelligence, detectives traced the suspects to Freeway Hotel, Magboro, where Emmanuel Friday and Tunde Abioye were arrested. A Toyota Camry bearing used as the gang’s operational vehicle, was recovered during the operation, while the victim positively identified the suspects” the statement reads.
According to the statement Ankpa James was arrested in the Mowe area of the state for allegedly defrauding and obtaining ₦1.2m from a 21-year-old suspect under the false pretence of facilitating his travel to Luxembourg.
“During interrogation, the suspect admitted involvement in the offence, while ₦1.1 million was recovered and released to the complainant on bond.”
The PPRO added that the fourth suspect, a member of the Eiye confraternity who is also allegedly involved in the sale of illicit drugs, was arrested in a joint raid with sister agencies and two locally fabricated pistols were recovered from him.
“In another remarkable operational success, operatives of Ode-Remo Division foiled an armed robbery attack targeting students at Itun-Raye, Ode-Remo. On sighting the approaching security team, the hoodlums fled into a nearby bush.
“A thorough search of the area led to the recovery of one locally made Dane gun, two expended cartridges, one HP EliteBook laptop, three power banks, one rechargeable touch light, three pairs of slippers, one black belt, one face cap, one T-shirt, two boxer shorts, nine iPhones, seven Samsung Android phones, and one Itel Android phone, bringing the total number of recovered mobile phones to seventeen.”
The statement added that a habitual attack offender identified as Seun was later arrested for loitering around the Ode-Remo scene under suspicious circumstances.

BREAKING: Police arrest 10 over murder of Miyetti Allah chairman, Ardo Risku
The Benue State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects in connection with the killing of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, in Benue State, Ardo Risku Mohammed, and one Yakubu Isa.
The arrests followed intensive intelligence gathering and coordinated tactical operations carried out by police operatives in Otukpo on the night of June 27, 2026.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Udeme Edet, the Command said the arrests marked a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into the gruesome killings.
The suspects arrested are Titus Thyodenda (25), Utibe Sam (20), Owoicho Ameh (18), Sunday Useni (21), Sunday Ogbanje (46), Daniel Raphael (23), Adokole John (24), Samuel Ogazi (32), Agbo Daniel (25) and Onazi James (30).
Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Cletus C.N. Nwadiogbu, commended the tactical teams and investigators for their swift response and professionalism, describing the arrests as a major step towards ensuring justice.
The police commissioner assured residents that investigations remain ongoing and that efforts have been intensified to identify and apprehend other persons linked to the killings.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring that all those found culpable are prosecuted in accordance with the law.
CP Nwadiogbu also appealed to residents of the state to remain calm, continue to cooperate with security agencies and provide credible information that could assist the investigation.
“The Benue State Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to protecting lives and property while sustaining peace and security across the state,” the statement added.
The Command had earlier condemned the killing of Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, who was the Benue State Chairman of MACBAN, and Yakubu Isa, describing the attack as unfortunate and vowing to bring those responsible to justice.

Female teacher allegedly beaten to death in Kogi
A female teacher has reportedly been beaten to death in Ugbamaka, Okpo District of Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State after disciplining a student.
The development was disclosed in a post on X by security and counter-insurgency expert in Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama.
According to reports, the incident occurred after the teacher took disciplinary action against the student.
The student’s father allegedly confronted her over the punishment, and the altercation reportedly turned violent, resulting in her death.
The incident has sparked outrage among residents and education stakeholders, with many expressing concern over the safety of teachers and the increasing cases of attacks on educators while carrying out their duties.
Authorities are yet to officially comment on the incident.
However, an investigation is expected to be launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the teacher’s death and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

Edo Police arrest Enahoro, Alabi over alleged self-kidnapping
Edo State Police Command says its operatives on June 26, 2026 arrested one Taiye Enahoro and Lucky Alabi over alleged involvement in self-kidnapping.
A statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Eno Ikoedem said its operative attached to the Igarra Division made the arrest following credible intelligence.
The PPRO explained that preliminary investigation revealed that the “criminal plan was executed on 23rd June, 2026, when Taiye Enahoro allegedly placed several telephone calls to relatives of Lucky Alabi, falsely claiming that Alabi had been kidnapped and demanding the sum N4,000,000 as ransom for his release”.
He said the suspects have confessed to their respective roles in the staged kidnapping, stressing that they “will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation”.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika warned members of the public against engaging in any form of criminal deception, including staging kidnappings to extort money from unsuspecting relatives.
“The Command reiterates its commitment to ensuring all persons involved in criminal acts are brought to justice.
“Members of the public are urged to promptly report suspicious activities”, the PPRO added.
