2027: ADC condemns attack on NDC members in lmo
The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Imo State, has condemned the violent attack on members of Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, who were holding a meeting at Umuoyima Town Hall, in Owerri Municipal local government Area of the state on Tuesday evening.
ADC said to eyewitness accounts, indicated that over 20 armed thugs in a fully loaded bus invaded the meeting venue, and unleashed mayhem on peaceful citizens. Guns, knives, and other dangerous weapons were displayed1
Many were injured and properties including chairs and public address systems belonging to the NDC were reportedly destroyed.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the party’s state Publicity Secretary, Mac-Donald Amadi in Owerri, condemned the attack.
“We condemn this barbaric act in the strongest possible terms. We are all brothers and sisters. Imo State is our common home. Politics should not turn us into enemies. The blood of any Imolite is too precious to be spilled on the altar of ambition.
The Holy Bible reminds us in Psalm 62:11.God has spoken once, twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God. Power is given by God, and to God alone belongs the authority to enthrone and dethrone.
“If the purpose of seeking power is to develop our state, to build our roads, schools, and hospitals, and to wipe tears from the eyes of our people, then there is absolutely no need to kill ourselves.
“ADC believes politics must be played according to the tenets of democracy, with ideas, with civility, and with respect for the sanctity of human life.Thuggery, intimidation, and violence have no place in a democracy.
“We urge all political actors, stakeholders, and youths in Imo State to reject violence. Let us debate issues, not attack persons.Let us campaign with our manifesto, not with weapons.
“We will continue to uphold the rule of law and the fear of God in all our day to day activities. We will not be provoked into violence. We will not sponsor thugs. Our mandate is to serve, not to shed blood.”
The party called on the security agencies to immediately investigate the attack, arrest the perpetrators and their sponsors, and ensure that justice is done.

2027: I’ll give Atiku, opposition high BP, make them suffer crisis – Wike
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has said he is ready to give the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and other opposition candidates in the upcoming 2027 election high blood pressure.
Wike made the vow on Friday in Abuja while speaking to journalists during an inspection of infrastructure projects in the FCT.
The minister reaffirmed his position that there is nothing like leading opposition party in the country.
Wike said: “I have told you, when you say we are leading the opposition, I have told you there is no opposition. What do you have? People who are just looking to see if they can stay relevant.
“Who is the opposition leader now? Obviously, it would have been PDP, but because of the crisis we have gone through, you can’t see a strong party that you would call the leading opposition party.
“So, I don’t care; whatever they feel is not my business. I don’t want them to feel well. My job is to make them feel unwell all day because they will have high blood pressure. I think that’s my job, to make them have high blood pressure.”
Wike vowed to ensure that the opposition continues to encounter crisis before the elections.
“I’m not here to make them perform well. And that is what we are doing to them. So, we have to be patient. It does not give me any headache. Everyone understands now what they’re going through, and I’m going to make things even harder for them,” he said.

Osun: APC candidate Oyebamiji meets Tinubu for first time after election loss
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the just concluded Osun State governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, on Friday met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
This was barely 24 hours after incumbent Governor, Ademola Adeleke of Accord Party, who won the election, paid the President a visit and presented his Certificate of Return to him.
Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, Oyebamiji called for peace among political actors in Osun State, stating that the party is still reviewing the outcome of the election.
He said Tinubu advised him to approach the situation with a peaceful mindset.
According to him, Nigerians must understand that government is about the people, and for that reason, peace must be prioritised
“I met with the President, and what he said was that the most important thing is to run every election with a peaceful mind.
“It is important for us Nigerians to know that government is about the people, and because of that, it is important that we should be peaceful. I want to appeal to our people in Osun that they need to be peaceful,” Oyebamiji said.
He further stated that the party is still examining the books regarding the election, and will make its position known to the public in due course.
The APC candidate equally charged Governor Adeleke to call his supporters to order and prevent violence.

Kwara senator clinches PDP ticket hours after leaving APC
Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central, has secured the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial ticket for the district, just hours after leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP Kwara State chairman, Issa Bawa, presented the ticket to Mustapha on Friday, formally making him the party’s candidate for the 2027 election.
Mustapha, who is also the Turaki of Ilorin Emirate, announced his resignation from the APC earlier in the day, citing recent developments within the party in Kwara State.
In his resignation letter, he said he made the decision after consultations with political stakeholders, supporters, constituents and other Kwarans.
He said his decision was based on his belief that politics should focus on the interests of the people, principles and a clear sense of purpose.
“Where the path of a political platform no longer sufficiently aligns with these convictions and the aspirations of the people one represents, the honourable thing to do is to chart a new course,” he said.
Mustapha thanked APC leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, for the relationships and experiences he gained while in the party.
He also assured the people of Kwara Central that leaving the APC would not change his commitment to serving them.
“To my constituents, supporters, political associates and stakeholders in Kwara State and beyond, I assure you that while my political platform may change, my principles, my purpose and my commitment to the people remain unchanged,” he said.
Mustapha’s defection had been widely expected following growing tensions within the Kwara APC.
He had reportedly been considering the move after losing the party’s governorship primary and facing uncertainty over the APC’s Kwara Central senatorial ticket.
Earlier, there had also been speculation that the PDP was keeping its Kwara Central ticket for him.
