Team England Issue Statement After Injury Suspends Commonwealth Event

Published

on

Team England have issued a statement after a horror injury to Gymnast Gabriel Langton forced a Commonwealth Games event to be suspended on Friday night.

Langton, just 19, landed on his head after coming off the horizontal bar, bringing the action inside the arena to a halt. He received medical treatment on the floor for several minutes before being taken away on a stretcher wearing a head brace.

The incident cast a shadow over the remainder of the competition, with England settling for silver behind Canada after action resumed.

Australia claimed bronze, securing their first men’s team gymnastics medal since winning gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Langton was conscious, moving and speaking with doctors, team officials said at the time of the incident. In a fresh statement, Team England have said, as per The Sun:

“Team England’s Gabriel Langton had a fall at tonight’s artistic gymnastics men’s individual qualification and team final competition. We are grateful to the medical teams who responded immediately to provide assistance.”

The statement concluded: “He has been taken to hospital, and we will share more information when it is available.” Not wanting to comment on the ins and outs, his teammates have provided a more positive update since.

Langton’s Teammate Offers Reassurance in Post-Event Interview

Luke Whitehouse, one of the England gymnasts, stood on the podium with teammates Joshan Nathan, Adam Tobin and Alexander Yolshin-Cash as Langton received medical attention elsewhere. He said: “From what we’ve heard, he’s doing OK, so fingers crossed for Gabe.

“After something like that happens, you’ve just got to put it out of your mind, reset and focus on the routine, skill by skill.”

The Halifax gymnast, 24, added: “It was really tough. We just had to reset, try to put it to one side mentally and focus on the job we had to do. I think everyone should be proud of the way we carried on after Gabe’s fall. We all agreed we’d take another warm-up and bring our energy back into it.

“There was a delay after the first warm-up, but we regrouped. The coaches were fantastic, and the boys who had to go up on high bar were incredible. The togetherness of the team really showed, and I couldn’t be prouder of everyone.”

Donald Trump Speaks Out After Spain Ace ‘Sparks Anger’ at World Cup Trophy Parade

Donald Trump has spoken out after being told Ferran Torres ‘was being attacked’ for his actions during Spain’s World Cup trophy parade.

Spain were crowned champions of the world for a second time last week when they defeated Argentina at New York New Jersey Stadium.

Barcelona star Torres started the match on the bench. He entered the fray in the 62nd minute with the deadlock yet to be broken.

He proved to be the hero for Spain as he scored what turned out to be the winner in the second half of extra-time. The 26-year-old latched on to a header from Nico Williams, and he made no mistake as his fierce effort rocketed past Emiliano Martinez and found into the back of the net.

Torres caused a stir at Spain’s World Cup trophy parade when he decided to wear a cap with the words ‘Make Spain Great Again’. The cap is, of course, essentially a copy of the ‘Make America Great Again’ slogan that became popular under Trump.

Torres’ cap went down well with the White House, who posted on social media: “Everyone wants in on the movement.”

Trump himself has now reacted to Torres’ cap. When made aware of the cap and told his choice of attire had seen him ‘getting attacked by Communists’, Trump responded:

“He is a great player. He was wearing essentially a Make America Great Again cap, so it was a nice tribute. And I think he meant that very nicely; we appreciate it.

“We have, we’ve made America great. We’re the greatest country in the world now. I will say this, we, a year and a half ago, two years ago, this country was in deep trouble.”

Torres was ecstatic when speaking to the media after his World Cup final heroics. He said, per TNT Sports: “Finals are hard. When you have Messi on the opposing team you do get worried, but we always backed ourselves and tried to show our football and I think we managed to do it once again.”

He added: “A huge relief [to score]. “I’ve been criticised throughout the whole tournament but as I said before, destiny was written. Thanks to God, he always gives me the strength to continue and, in the end, he grants things to those that most deserve them.”

Torres has made 65 appearances for Spain, scoring 25 times. He joined current club Barcelona in a £55m move from Manchester City in 2021.

Very Strong Verdict on Andrey Santos Cast After Performance in Man Utd vs Rosenborg

Published

Manchester United supporters have cast a clear verdict on new signing Andrey Santos after the defensive midfielder starred in the Red Devils’ 5-0 pre-season friendly win over Rosenborg on Friday evening.

United had shocked just about everyone when the deal to sign Ederson from Atalanta fell through earlier this summer, before they immediately turned their attention to the Chelsea youngster, completing a £48 million move that was signed, sealed, delivered before any media outlet had the chance to catch wind on anything.

At first, the signing was met with skepticism among the Old Trafford faithful, who know full well that Carrick’s recruitment team has a huge job on its hands this summer to replace Casemiro and bolster an engine room that was considerably weaker than the rest of the squad before he left anyway.

However, it seems like the opinion of the 22-year-old Brazilian has quickly changed. Following a 61-minute appearance alongside Mason Mount in the pivot, Santos has already earnt plenty of plaudits. As one X user remarked (watch his highlights below):

“This guy is going to prove so many people wrong. Andrey Santos will go down as one of the signings of the season.”

A second also wrote: “Composed on the ball, works hard off it, and reads the game well. Give him real minutes and he’s going to be a key player for us,” as a third commented:” We have our midfield engine in him, I already love him.”

Meanwhile, a fourth asked: “How did we sign this man for that amount?” a fifth added: “Andrey Santos is going to be a problem next season,” while a sixth concluded: “Whoever pushed for the Andrey Santos signing deserves a serious bonus. They did us unbelievably good, man.”

Mason Mount Also Heaps Praise on New Midfield Partner

It’s one thing to have good players in your midfield, but it’s a completely different thing to have them all on the same page. After last season’s woes, which saw Casemiro and Mason Mount have alternating good performances in an otherwise disjointed midfield, perhaps the best thing to come out of Santos’ performance this weekend is that he got along so well naturally with his partner.

Speaking about his new teammate, Mount explained to reporters after the 5-0 win, which saw Carrington Academy stars steal the headlines:

“It’s been really good to play with him [Andrey Santos], to understand him a little bit more in training and then obviously in the games. Helping him grow and, and feel comfortable, as I said before, in the team.”

He continued: “He’s obviously a new player, but I think he’s integrated really well. He’s came in and been very, very comfortable from early on. He’s definitely got more to come, and then we’ll keep growing as a team. But yeah, it’s a really good moment at the moment.”

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Comments After Rodri Won the 2024 Ballon d’Or

Rodri has enjoyed the perfect response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s criticism of his 2024 Ballon d’Or win, lifting the World Cup with Spain following their 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina in the final and picking up the Golden Ball for the tournament’s best player in the process.

The Manchester City midfielder’s award in November 2024 was heated from the outset, with Real Madrid boycotting the ceremony after learning Vinicius Junior would miss out, and Ronaldo himself weighed in publicly on the debate.

Rodri, however, only responded to those comments once, and did so with characteristic composure.

Speaking at the Globe Soccer Awards, where Vinicius picked up the Best Men’s Player prize, Ronaldo made his feelings clear on the matter.

“Vini did a fantastic job and in my opinion, he deserved to win the Ballon D’Or, it was unfair in my opinion, I’m saying it in front of everybody. They gave it to Rodri, he deserved it too, but I think they should’ve given it to Vini because he won the Champions League and scored in the Champions League final. When you deserve, you should give it to who deserves. This gala always does the same thing, this is why I love Globe Soccer, continue to do this gala because it’s an honest award and it’s very good.”

Vinicius himself responded warmly to the praise, saying it was an honour to be mentioned alongside idols like Ronaldo and Neymar.

Rodri didn’t rush to react, waiting almost a week before addressing Ronaldo’s comments in an interview with Spanish outlet AS. He pointed out the irony of a five-time Ballon d’Or winner questioning how the voting process works:

“Well, it was a surprise, really, because he knows better than anyone how this award works and, above all, how the winner is chosen. This year, the journalists who vote have decided that I should win it. Probably, these same journalists were the ones who at some point voted for him to win it, and I imagine that then he would have agreed.”

Rodri’s response came during a season disrupted by a serious ACL injury, but he has since bounced back after some inconsistent form at club level to inspire Spain to World Cup glory, silencing any remaining doubts over his world-class credentials, and putting his name back in the Ballon d’Or conversation in the process.
