With the traditional Formula One summer break underway following the Hungarian Grand Prix, won by Lando Norris, the silly season of driver moves has also begun.

During the 2026 season, there have been two drivers in top teams who have not had results on the same level as their teammates, for whatever reason. According to former Sky Sports reporter Rachel Brookes, it will be those two who are at the centre of any moves that do happen, and if her predictions come true, it will mean the winner in Budapest could have a new face across the garage.

Lando Norris has had a return to the taste of champagne with his recent victory, and Kimi Antonelli has been on fire this season and is currently the championship leader. However, their teammates, Oscar Piastri and George Russell, have not had as much luck this season and are, therefore, subject to rumours that they could soon be on their way to another seat.

Oscar Piastri & George Russell Suffering So Far

The reigning constructors’ champions have not had a good defence of their title and are all but out of the running to earn that crown for a third consecutive season.

Their season began with a double DNS, with Piastri later suffering another one. As a result, Norris’ chances of retaining his World Drivers’ Championship have taken a major hit. On the other hand, the Brit can at least say he has won a race this season, which is something that the Australian can’t.

In the current standings, Norris is fifth, while the man from Down Under is seventh, with McLaren sitting third in the battle of the teams, 159 points behind Mercedes.

While Piastri has endured a difficult campaign, Russell’s recent weeks have been even more problematic. There may be some solace for the Australian in the fact that it’s clear he is no longer in a car capable of fighting for a championship, but there is no such escape for the Brit.

Although he has claimed two race victories this season in Australia and Austria respectively, Russell’s performances pale in comparison to the 19-year-old on the other side of the garage. Italian Antonelli is frequently being called a generational talent, and his six wins in 2026 so far, which included five in a row, have gone some way to proving that, with him becoming the youngest championship leader ever in the process.

It hasn’t just been the difference in the number of race wins where Russell has been on the wrong side either; he has also been the recipient of some bad reliability. Though Antonelli broke down in Barcelona, he has his six wins to numb the pain, whereas Russell has just two.

With him having to park up in Canada after a brilliant fight with his teammate, plus more problems in Hungary during qualifying and the race, which saw him tumble down the order right at the start, he is 59 points behind the Italian.

As a result of both drivers seemingly seeing lady luck go to the other car in their team, Rachel Brookes believes both drivers could be in other garages come the opening race of next season.

She believes the catalyst for a change for Piastri and Russell will be the long-rumoured deal between Max Verstappen and Mercedes coming to fruition, and the Australian will be the one heading to Milton Keynes to pair up with Isack Hadjar.

With Russell out of a drive, the broadcaster predicts he will find a new home in Piastri’s vacated seat at McLaren.

Outside any line-up differences, Brookes thinks the Ferrari pair will remain the same.

If the proposed changes go through and the boys in Papaya end up both being British, that will bring plenty of pleasure to the core group of British fans who support the team. Although the team was created by Bruce McLaren, who was from New Zealand, it has been very much adopted by the British public.

The latest odds for the 2026/27 Premier League title have been released, with less than a month to go until reigning champions Arsenal kick off the new campaign at home to newly promoted Coventry City.

It may still be too early to say who will have their hands on the trophy next May, or whether Mikel Arteta’s side can turn one title into the start of a dynasty by successfully defending the crown they waited so long to win. Under Regis Le Bris’ daring management last season, Sunderland were the surprise package, going from topflight newbies to Europa Conference League qualification in such quick succession. However, the betting odds seem to suggest they are not expected to be able to juggle an extra competition very well next term, with the Black Cats ranking as the fourth-least favourite side to win gold.

Only the three promoted teams this time around – Coventry City, Ipswich Town, and Hull City – have worse odds, with the latter propping up the table as they are priced at 3000/1 after gaining promotion via the Championship playoffs. Meanwhile, Fulham (500/1) are 16th favourites, having bid farewell to Marco Silva after five seasons, and also sanctioning star player Harry Wilson’s transfer to Leeds United.

Crystal Palace have been bombarded by Nottingham Forest again this summer after last year’s bombshell UEFA ruling saw the Eagles surrender their Europa League spot to the Evangelos Marinakis-owned side. Despite taking Oliver Glasner from them this time around, with Jean-Philippe Mateta also potentially making the switch, not much is expected to separate the two sides, as they have both been given odds of 500/1 to win the league.

The other club at those odds is Leeds United, whose aforementioned acquisition of Wilson is still not expected to be enough to lift them beyond mid-table mediocrity. Brentford (250/1) are tipped to finish two places higher in 12th, while Bournemouth, despite losing Andoni Iraola to Liverpool, have seen their odds improve to 200/1.

Everton (200/1) and Brighton & Hove Albion (150/1) are both expected to maintain their positions in and around the top 10 next season, with the latter continuing to prove they have an endless production line of young talent capable of ensuring any potential sales or managerial changes do not completely derail their hopes of establishing themselves as a European featherweight.

Newcastle’s place in eighth may not last much longer after Eddie Howe stepped away from his role following five years in charge, having grown increasingly frustrated by the hierarchy’s willingness to sell his most-prized assets. Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon have already departed, while Bruno Guimaraes is also expected to complete a move to Arsenal soon.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa may not be financially blessed, but they continue to hold on to their star players, ensuring Unai Emery’s expertise is not completely wasted. As for Tottenham, an influx of new signings – including Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke and Andrew Robertson – has seen their odds cut to just 20/1, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side tipped to go from genuine relegation candidates to title contenders.

In fifth, and expected to climb higher and higher as they embark on yet another busy transfer window, are Chelsea. The additions of Morgan Rogers and Maxence Lacroix are viewed as incredible pieces of business for the Blues under Xabi Alonso’s highly rated stewardship, and it will be interesting to see whether the experience of Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson proves to be the final piece of the puzzle in their pursuit of silverware.

Only three clubs have been given shorter title odds than Michael Carrick’s Manchester United, with Liverpool and Manchester City among those ahead of them. It would be a tall order for the retired midfielder to upset the apple cart, but he has already shown he can work wonders with the tools at his disposal after leading the Premier League table for the 2026 calendar year following his initial appointment as interim boss.

There appears to be no stopping Arsenal, though, as the Gunners are tipped to win back-to-back titles as runaway 6/4 favourites under Mikel Arteta. It seems one success has opened the floodgates for the north Londoners, who waited so long to end their Premier League title drought after finally getting their hands on the trophy for the first time since 2004.

Rangers are interested in signing Brighton & Hove Albion winger Amario Cozier-Duberry this summer, with the Premier League side demanding around £5 million for the player, according to TEAMtalk.

Cozier-Duberry excelled on loan at Bolton Wanderers in League One last season, netting nine goals and providing ten assists in 37 appearances. The Arsenal academy product has subsequently returned to Brighton for pre-season training, although he is still expected to leave the south coast club this summer.

Rangers have emerged as the most likely suitors, as they look to inject pace and creativity into their forward line.

However, Brighton aren’t prepared to allow the 21-year-old to leave for a bargain fee, demanding upwards of £5 million for his services after his impressive exploits in England’s third tier last term.

Rangers Prepared to Move For Amario Cozier-Duberry

Cozier-Duberry, described as ‘ruthless‘ by Luke Chambers, developed through Arsenal’s famous Hale End academy, although he was never granted a senior first-team appearance and subsequently left for Brighton on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.

He hasn’t fared much better in Sussex, failing to break into the first team since his move. He has, however, enjoyed two separate loan spells in Lancashire which have proved beneficial from a developmental standpoint.

Making 22 Championship appearances at Blackburn in 2024/25, Cozier-Duerry then enjoyed a much more productive temporary stint at Bolton last term, prompting interest from Rangers.

The Glaswegian outfit are desperately in need of some flair out wide, with their current squad lacking in this department. The club’s hierarchy view Cozier-Duberry as capable of providing Derek McInnes’ ensemble with this increased dynamism in the final third.

However, the Gers would need to stump up a fee of around £5 million to pry the youngster away from Brighton on a permanent basis.

The Seagulls still value the player’s potential and would be more than happy to sanction another loan move as he continues his physical development.

Rangers Should Push for Loan Move for Cozier-Duberry

£5 million is a steep fee for a player who has thus far only shown promise in League One. While he impressed for Bolton in the third tier, he wasn’t far too good for that level, and thus, Rangers must be wary in their pursuit of him.

While there will be a temptation to take him to Ibrox permanently, the more sensible move might be to enquire about a potential loan, perhaps with a buy option included.

That way, McInnes and the Scottish giants’ executives can assess Cozier-Duberry’s progress and evaluate how ready he is for the top level, without investing a significant sum on him.

Otherwise, it’s entirely possible that Rangers end up with a promising talent who can’t quite cut it in the Scottish Premiership, having paid a premium for his services.
