Newcastle Eyeing Race to Sign Man City Star Marmoush Ahead of Tottenham

Published

Newcastle United have entered the race to sign Man City star Omar Marmoush ahead of Tottenham and Barcelona this summer, according to reports.

The Magpies have seen their squad ripped apart this summer after missing out on European football, with Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and manager Eddie Howe all departing, with new manager Matthias Jaissle now facing a major rebuild just weeks before the campaign begins.

Newcastle have completed several deals this summer, including for forward Bazoumana Toure from Hoffenheim in attack, but the club are still on the lookout for more firepower in attack to help fire them up the table, and one top star has now emerged as a prime target.

Marmoush, who earns a reported £250,000-a-week at the Etihad Stadium, joined the club in January 2024 in a deal worth €75m (£59m), but has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular ahead of Erling Haaland.

The Egyptian is understood to be keen to play more regular football, but wants to stay in the Premier League, and Newcastle have now emerged as a potential destination for him this summer, according to Caught Offside.

Man City have put a €65m (£55.7m) asking price on his head, and Newcastle would be able to match that asking price after bringing in around £245m from their sales in this window. Those sales mean they are understood to be best-placed to pay the money needed to get a deal done, despite competition from big-spending Spurs and Spanish giants Barcelona.

Some doubts have emerged over the future of Nick Woltemade, with reports stating he has been told he can leave on loan in this window, while Yoane Wissa managed just three goals in all competitions following his £60m move from Brentford last summer.

Marmoush has scored 16 goals in 61 appearances for Man City, but has found most of his minutes coming off the substitutes’ bench under Pep Guardiola.

Marmoush a ‘Special’ Player

Marmoush enjoyed a stunning campaign at Frankfurt prior to joining City, with Guardiola convinced by watching him score 20 goals in 26 games up to January before he left.

But while he never established himself as an undisputed starter under the iconic Catalan coach, Guardiola did praise him earlier this year and labelled him as a ‘special’ player.

“Last season when he arrived for three months he was unbelievable; without him it would not be possible to qualify for the Champions League and reach the FA Cup final,” said Guardiola.

“He’s a special player, not old ,not young but he has margin to improve.

“His dynamic energy and runs are really good. I see him more as a striker not a proper winger. He’s a guy for transition actions.

“I am so happy for him. He arrived clean after AFCON, and I am so pleased for him.”

Tottenham Captain Cristian Romero Very Open to Joining Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur captain Cristian Romero would be ‘very open’ to joining Arsenal this summer, according to one reliable insider.

Spurs have had a busy summer transfer window, including the arrivals of Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi in central defence, with the club and the Argentina international open to a move that would see the 28-year-old depart the club following four seasons in north London.

GIVEMESPORT sources understand that the player has already agreed personal terms with Atletico Madrid, with the Spanish club preparing to make an opening bid, with Spurs valuing him at around £35m. But Arsenal have also made contact over a shock move to keep him in north London, and the player’s stance has now emerged too.

Romero ‘Very Open’ to Joining Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur Cristian Romero warms up

Romero, who has been hailed as ‘world-class’ by teammate Micky Van de Ven, missed the back end of last season due to a knee injury, but recovered in time for the World Cup as he helped Argentina reach a second consecutive final, before he limped off during the 1-0 extra-time defeat to Spain.

A move has been expected all summer, with Tottenham already bringing in his replacements during the window, but no deal has been agreed.

Arsenal are understood to be in the market to strengthen their defensive options, having lost star man William Saliba for an extended period due to a back injury, which was exacerbated during the World Cup. Aston Villa star Ezri Konsa has been heavily linked, but Romero is also understood to be someone they are looking at.

It was reported that the Gunners made enquiries about a deal for the defender, but Spurs immediately ruled out the possibility of selling their captain and star defender to their fierce rivals.

However, according to reliable insider Hand of Arsenal, Romero would be ‘very open’ to making the same switch that Sol Campbell famously made, regardless of whether the deal ever materialises or not.

Romero Would Join Short List

It doesn’t look likely that a deal is on the cards, regardless of whether Romero would be open to it or not. However, should the deal somehow progress and the Argentine at the Emirates Stadium, he would be only the 16th player in history to play for both clubs, and just the fifth in the Premier League era.

  • Sol Campbell – famously joined Arsenal on a free transfer after leaving Tottenham as captain.
  • Rohan Ricketts – made one League Cup app for Arsenal before joining Arsenal, where he spent three seasons and made 30 apps in the Premier League.
  • David Bentley – made nine first-team apps for the Gunners before finding himself at Spurs in 2008. Scored one of the greatest North London Derby goals in Premier League history, too.
  • William Gallas – from Arsenal captain to Spurs defender, Gallas made 142 appearances in red before joining Spurs on a free transfer and going on to make 78 appearances over three seasons.
  • Emmanuel Adebayor – Once an Arsenal hero who scored 62 goals in 142 games, he fell out with fans when he joined Man City. Ended up at Spurs for one season, scoring 18 goals in 37 games.

Manchester United have held talks over a ‘stunning’ deal to sign Real Madrid forward Endrick this summer.

The Red Devils are keen to add more firepower to their squad amid question marks over the futures of Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford, with the club keen to ensure they are not short on options after qualifying for the Champions League for the first time since the 2023/24 season.

Michael Carrick is understood to be open to bringing in a new forward, but after missing out on top target Crysencio Summerville after he opted to join Saudi side Al Hilal instead, a surprise deal has now been put on the table for them.

Endrick is now contemplating a departure from the Bernabeu after their recent transfer business.

The Brazil international, described as a ‘game-changer’, spent the second half of the 2025/26 season on loan at Lyon in Ligue 1 and registered an impressive eight goals and eight assists in 21 games for the French side, earning a place in the World Cup squad under Carlo Ancelotti.

The 20-year-old had been set to return to Real Madrid to be part of Jose Mourinho’s squad for the upcoming season, but the Portuguese boss has since sanctioned moves for striker Carlos Espi and winger Yan Diomande, while Vinicius Jr has signed a long-term contract extension, putting his future with the club in doubt.

TEAMtalk report that the forward’s camp have begun reaching out to potential landing spots as he looks for regular football this upcoming season, and the Premier League has emerged as his preferred destination.

Man Utd are one of the clubs who have been contacted, and talks have taken place over the terms of a deal. Real Madrid are only willing to sanction a loan deal, but Man Utd have made it clear during discussions that they would only proceed if there was a buy option included in the arrangement.

Ancelotti: Endrick is ‘Spectacular’

Endrick celebrates after scoring against PSG

Endrick has struggled for regular game time since moving to Real Madrid in July 2024, having been signed in December 2022 as a 16-year-old in a stunning €72m (£61.7m) deal.

But despite his battles for minutes at the Bernabeu, he is still very highly thought of within the walls of the Spanish capital. Ancelotti, who is now his manager at national team level, previously spoke about the qualities he possesses, describing him as ‘spectacular’.

“He is spectacular,” Ancelotti told a press conference

.

“He has these amazing characteristics he has shown whenever he has a chance. His accuracy is off the charts, he’s quick and he still has a lot to improve with the ball.

“But, wow, his dribbling, his runs… the shot he has… he could even score a second goal easily with that great strike off the post… He is just spectacular. Very young, but a very fast learner.”

Man Utd Fans Praise Youri Tielemans After His Debut vs PSG

Published

Youri Tielemans made his Manchester United debut on Saturday afternoon in a friendly against Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg, and fans have revealed exactly what they made of their new signing’s display.

The Red Devils were held by the reigning European champions, with Bryan Mbeumo’s strike cancelling out an early goal from Ibrahim Mbaye. United’s team consisted of a mismatch of first-team players and academy prospects, as Michael Carrick’s men stepped up their preparations for the new season.

The likes of Mbeumo, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Amad Diallo all started, while Leny Yoro, Bruno Fernandes and Tielemans featured off the bench.

The performances were mixed across the board, but Tielemans, who signed from Aston Villa for £35 million earlier this month, impressed in a red and black shirt.

After playing a key role in Villa’s Champions League-qualifying and Europa League-winning campaign last season, United opted to activate Tielemans’ £35 million release clause this summer. The Belgian completed his switch to Old Trafford last month, but missed the north-west outfit’s first three pre-season friendlies after being granted an additional rest following his participation at the World Cup.

United supporters got a taste of what their new midfield maestro can bring to the party when the Red Devils took on PSG on Saturday afternoon in Sweden. Introduced as a substitute in the 64th minute, Tielemans enjoyed an eye-catching cameo alongside Tyler Fletcher and Bruno Fernandes in United’s midfield.

Sat next to 19-year-old Fletcher, the former Leicester City man bossed proceedings at the base of Carrick’s side’s double pivot. He successfully orchestrated United’s build-up from deep, while also sweeping up defensively on multiple occasions.

Completing all 21 of his attempted passes and being dispossessed not once, this was an outstanding display of his ability to retain possession under pressure. His five ball recoveries will also have delighted United fans who may have been sceptical of his defensive work.

Carrick will be delighted with what his new midfielder had to offer, with the Belgium international arguably boasting the blend of attributes on the ball that United have been crying out for for years.

Man Utd Fans React to Youri Tielemans’ Debut

United fans are notoriously critical of their own players, but have shown surprising leniency to recent recruits. Red Devils followers produced glowing reviews of Andrey Santos’ debut last month, and they were similarly optimistic about what they saw from Tielemans against PSG.

Taking to social media, many United supporters waxed lyrical about their new number 18’s showing.

One fan wrote on X, based on what he saw on Saturday: “Youri Tielemans, £35m. This is the bargain of the century. An elite signing. He will cook with Bruno in that midfield like mad.”

Another added: “Youri Tielemans is cold. But I didn’t need to tell anyone that.”

Meanwhile, one supporter wrote, along similar lines: “Youri Tielemans is so solid. He will cook.”

Another fan thanked Villa for putting such a minimal release clause into the player’s contract at Villa Park: “Whoever put a £35m release clause on Youri Tielemans, God bless you.”

One fan wrote: “Youri Tielemans was class today. We should’ve signed this guy 6 years ago, but better late than never. Quality midfielder, proper footballer. We’ll take him now!”

Finally, one supporter chose to highlight both Tielemans and Santos’ displays, posting screenshots of the two players’ stats from the encounter in Gothenburg: “Our new signings are cooking. Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos.”

The two new signings are yet to play together in the middle of the park for United, but this double pivot could be in action as early as this Wednesday. Carrick’s outfit take on Leeds in an all-Premier League affair in Dublin in three days’ time.
