West Ham are now said to be eyeing young talent Daniel Job as they look to add real depth out wide. It has been a busy summer for the Hammers, who were always expecting to lose a big chunk of talent following their relegation from the Premier League.

The likes of Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes have left the club, but the work is ongoing to replace those players, with Manor Solomon signed, while Arne Engels is on his way into the club from Celtic.

That deal will cost the Hammers £22million, and there is no doubt that the midfielder will be signed to replace Fernandes, while the Iron are said to be in talks with Arsenal over the potential signing of Reiss Nelson as they look to add depth out wide.

But the recruitment won’t end there, and fresh reports have claimed West Ham are interested in an up-and-coming winger in Daniel Job. The Kongsvinger winger has been impressing in the Norwegian league this season, scoring seven and assisting eight in the league, and the season is still ongoing. The Nigerian has 15 goal contributions in just 16 league games so far.

Norwegian outlet SportExpressen have reported: “West Ham have made a €4m offer for 20-year-old Kongsvinger winger Daniel Job.” That works out as around £3.4million, which would actually make the 20-year-old a more expensive investment than Nelson, who will reportedly only cost around £3million.

Speaking last week, West Ham boss Santo said: “Everybody is aware that we need players in the squad, we need to get things, but we are taking our time, so we are not making mistakes, but we are delighted with the way the players are working on a daily basis.

“Who comes must bring us something different and improve us. I think we can afford some time (but) not too much. I will speak internally (about the need for new signings), and we are aware of that, but we are taking time and nailing our decision is crucial for this.”

Kongsvinger coach Johan Wennberg said of Job ahead of this season: “I have very great faith that [Daniel Job] will become a very good and important player for us.” He has since added: “I couldn’t be more proud of him as a player. I’ve never seen anything like it, and I’ve hardly seen him lose the ball since he came.”

The club’s sporting director, Espen Nystuen, has said: “He is a diamond that we hope we can polish and refine a little so that it becomes good.”

Aston Villa‘s time to strike has arrived, with reported target Nicolas Jackson missing out on Chelsea‘s most recent pre-season friendly. The Blues took on Real Sociedad in a friendly on Saturday, with Xabi Alonso taking on a club close to his heart, but not all Chelsea stars were involved.

Striker Jackson missed out on pre-match minutes and while, at time of writing, we do not know the reason for it, it was notable that Liam Delap and Tosin Adarabioyo, who have also been linked with exits, were also absent.

There have been some reports that Jackson is willing to stay and fight for his place, but if Alonso is not going to give him a genuine opportunity to do so, then that could well change. Villa could do with a third striker to compete with Ollie Watkins and Tammy Abraham, and Jackson could be a very gettable target.

A deal has not been possible up to now, but after Jackson was left out of his side’s latest squad, now is the time for Unai Emery to strike again. We already know Emery has a good relationship with Jackson, so it shouldn’t be too tricky to convince the striker to join Villa if he does leave Chelsea, and especially not with the lure of Champions League football.

There is some risk for Jackson. He has a reputation to fight off in this country after a couple of red cards towards the end of his last Chelsea season saw him painted as a player with a bad attitude, or perhaps as a player with a discipline problem.

But this is not a player who has repeatedly been sent off throughout his career, and Emery will know that as well as anyone. Jackson was never sent off for Villarreal, and it is within Emery’s system that he succeeded the most as a player.

Jackson has scored in the Premier League, netting a respectable 24 goals in 65 games in the competition, and while he is not in the form of his life, coming off a season playing back-up to Harry Kane, he is still only 25 years of age and has plenty of development still to come.

If Villa can get Jackson on a good deal, or even a loan deal, it would take care of the striker position, with three solid – and different – options, and fitting into Emery’s system again, even without it being identical to his time at Villarreal, should be a comfortable process for the striker.

Tottenham Hotspur continue to pursue Manchester City winger Savinho and Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, but Roberto De Zerbi’s headline signing might ultimately come from elsewhere.

The Lilywhites have been active so far this summer, spending £237million in an attempt to rejuvenate a squad which has delivered back-to-back 17th-place finishes over the last two seasons. Sandro Tonali has signed for £100million from Newcastle United, while Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke have also arrived for significant fees.

On top of these big-money investments, De Zerbi has added free agents Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka to his ranks.

Having significantly strengthened their defence and midfield with these signings, attention now turns towards bolstering the forward line for Spurs. Savinho is a primary target, while Gakpo continues to be linked with a switch to North London.

However, De Zerbi also wants a new striker, and Tottenham have reportedly held preliminary talks over the potential signing of Real Madrid’s Endrick.

De Zerbi is clearly intent on reversing Spurs’ fortunes next season. Another season flirting with relegation won’t suffice, and the Italian is therefore pushing his higher-ups to make a number of significant investments.

While the defence and midfield at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium now look set up for several years, considerable work still needs to be done on the attack.

De Zerbi is eyeing ceiling raisers, and has referenced the transfer buzzword ‘bomba’ in recent interviews.

“In the transfer market, when I want one player, I become like a shark, no chance to say no!” he told Football.London at the end of July.

Endrick could be De Zerbi’s marquee signing

Many have speculated that Savinho and Gakpo are seen as the potential ‘bomba’ signings for De Zerbi. With the latter netting one league goal for City last term, and the former’s stock declining significantly over the past 12 months, neither of these prospective additions is likely to get the pulses of Lilywhites fans racing.

However, it’s very possible that neither proves to be the marquee signing that De Zerbi has spoken of so regularly.

Instead, it may well be Endrick. The North London club have expressed their interest in the Brazilian, and are said to be optimistic about their chances of luring him to the English capital. Having spent the second half of last season on loan at Lyon, there evidently isn’t a clear role for the prospect at the Bernabeu.

The addition of Yan Diomande is only going to hinder Endrick’s chances of becoming a regular for Los Blancos. It therefore wouldn’t be a surprise if the Spanish giants sanctioned his departure this summer.

Whether Spurs can attract him is a different question. Arsenal have been loosely linked with Endrick, and the Premier League champions’ interest would certainly concern Tottenham if they are serious about landing the young superstar.

The 20-year-old forward enjoyed a fruitful temporary stint in France, netting eight goals and providing eight assists in 21 appearances across all competitions for Lyon. This output highlighted that he’s certainly capable of producing at the highest level; he just needs a home where he can develop and hone his craft. Spurs could provide him with this home.

If De Zerbi can pull this deal off, it would indeed be a statement of intent from Tottenham, acquiring one of the brightest young talents on the planet, likely ahead of a number of other top potential suitors.
