ADC: David Mark-led convention illegal – Nafiu Bala
Factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Nafiu Bala, says the David Mark-led national convention is illegal.
Bala made this statement on Friday while addressing newsmen in Abuja.
He was reacting to the recently held national convention of the ADC under the leadership of the former Senate President.
He said, “The David Mark-led national convention is illegal. As far as the duly constituted and legitimate leadership of our great party is concerned, the coalition groups are not members of the ADC
“Subsequently, they convened a convention. Any decisions emanating from such gathering are devoid of legal effect and cannot pass the text of legality.”

2027: I got APC ticket from God, my people, I’m unpopular with Tinubu’s govt – Senator Ndume
Senator Ali Ndume has attributed his continued electoral success to the support of his constituents, God, and some political leaders, saying he is not among those favoured within the corridors of power in the current administration.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, the senator said he had consistently won elections because of the confidence his constituents have in him and the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Ndume noted that he was preparing for his seventh election, having previously served two terms in the House of Representatives and four terms in the Senate.
According to him, voters in his constituency are informed and educated enough to make independent decisions, adding that their support for him and the APC reflects their belief that both serve their interests.
The lawmaker also stated that he secured his party’s ticket through the support of God, his people and some political leaders, stressing that he is not among the popular figures within President Bola Tinubu’s government.
Ndume, who has at times been critical of the administration, said he believes public officials should be commended whenever they take actions that benefit the people.
Ndume said: “Well, you always ask me this question. By God’s grace, this is the seventh election I’m going into – two in the House of Representatives and four in the Senate – and I’ve always been winning.
“Our people are not fools. My people are mostly aware and educated. So, if you see them elect APC and Ndume is part of it, it is because they feel that APC is better for them and that’s why they vote for us or that Ndume is better.
“I don’t know tomorrow, but I know my people like me. I know if it is election that’s why I got the ticket.
“I got the ticket from God and my people and the support of some of our leaders. You know I’m not one of the popular guys on the corridor of power so far.
“You know that I’m one of the critical guys of this government, and when somebody does something that you expect or something good to you, you really have to commend him.”

2027: Elected officials must consult party before major decisions — NDC
The National Executive Committee, NEC of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, has further reached resolutions on running of the party’s activities.
In a statement signed by Osa Director, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, the NDC said that its second NEC resolutions are meant to take the party towards NDC towards institutionalization
The NDC said it is committed to building the party as a strong and enduring institution, with emphasis on party supremacy, adding that programs, policies, and appointments “(except personal staff) of all governments elected on the platform of the party must be made in consultation with the party structure.”
It maintained that the party “remains supreme, and members are expected to align their personal interests and agendas with those of the party.
“All affiliated groups and NGOs shall operate under the guidance and control of the party and must not function in parallel with, or independently of, the party structure.”
The statement added that “A comprehensive Code of Conduct shall be established for all party officials and candidates. To this end, a committee has been constituted under the leadership of the National Legal Adviser to develop the framework and guidelines.”
It said a National Reconciliation Committee has been inaugurated to reconcile all aggrieved members of the party.
It said, “The NDC is being built as an institution, not a personality cult, political movement, or Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to be used and discarded.
“Members are encouraged to remain committed to the party and contribute to its growth and sustainability for generations to come.
“At all times, and for all candidates and aspirants, total allegiance must be to the party and the national interest.
“On financial probity, the party will enforce strict accountability in the management of party resources by all officers, and party funds must be used strictly for party business.
“For candidates, there must also be strict accountability for all funding received. Monies sourced by candidates at all levels, and contributions made by candidates to campaign accounts, must be fully disclosed to the party at the appropriate levels (local government, state, zonal, and national). Such funds must be received through dedicated party campaign accounts, including presidential and governorship campaign accounts of the party, as applicable.”

Nobody will cause problem between Peter Obi and I — Datti Baba-Ahmed
Former Labour Party Vice-Presidential presidential candidate, Datti Baba Ahmed, says nobody will cause any problem between him and his ex-principal, Peter Obi.
Baba-Ahmed made this statement on Sunday during an interview on ‘Inside Source’ with Laolu Akande, a programme on Channels Television.
He was speaking on the speculation that he has fallen out with the former Anambra state governor.
“Let me say that nobody will cause a problem between me and my boss, Peter Obi.
“He can be in any party today. I still have respect for him as someone who governed Anambra State, as someone who doesn’t give the ‘shi-shi’, and we have mutual respect for each other, so nobody will come between us,” he said.
Recall that he was the running mate to Peter Obi, who was the presidential candidate of Labour Party in 2023.
However, ahead of the 2027 general elections, the duo parted ways to different political parties.
While he left for the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, Peter Obi defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, and he is the party’s presidential candidate ahead of next year’s general elections.
