Manchester United will see their return to the Champions League as an opportunity to boost all aspects of the club, and particularly to ensure they add more quality and depth to the squad.
Man United have only had to deal with their 38 Premier League matches, plus two in the domestic cup competitions, after they were knocked out at the first opportunity in both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
Now the Red Devils have secured qualification for the Champions League, that number will rise significantly next season, especially if they progress to the latter stages in all three cup competitions.
The Red Devils could sign a new goalkeeper if Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir depart in the summer transfer window, while they could also look at a striker and a centre-back should they lose players in those positions, as well as finding some competition for Luke Shaw at left-back.
Their two main transfer priorities though are in central midfield, where three new faces could arrive if Manuel Ugarte follows Casemiro through the Old Trafford exit door, and on the wing.
United are being linked with high-profile left-wingers like Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, but perhaps they might also sign a young understudy in that position too.
Jason Wilcox Holds Talks Over Jeremy Monga Deal
One of the most exciting teenage forwards in the country is Leicester City winger Jeremy Monga.
The 16-year-old doesn’t celebrate his 17th birthday until July, but he has already made 37 first-team appearances for the Foxes.
Monga has one goal and two assists in those outings, all of which came in the Championship this term.
The season ended disastrously for the Foxes as they suffered a points deduction and were relegated to League One, where they will look to win an immediate promotion next term.
Leicester would love to have Monga in their side, but he is attracting interest from big Premier League clubs following his impressive emergence at the King Power Stadium.
Man United director of football Jason Wilcox is reported to have held talks with Leicester over bringing him to Old Trafford this summer, knowing he is one of the biggest talents in the country.
Monga Would Be United’s Next Mainoo
There is no doubt that Monga is a hugely exciting 16-year-old player, and he has even been described as ‘England’s Ousmane Dembele’ by one club scout, due to his pace, dribbling, deadly finishing and his ability to use both feet.
The forward will be monitored by every top Premier League club, as well as teams abroad, because of the huge potential he clearly has.
From a United point of view, the teenager can be another Kobbie Mainoo at Old Trafford.
Mainoo made his debut for the Red Devils at 17 and he has always been a footballer who plays well beyond his years, and Monga is exactly the same from what we have seen so far from him in a Leicester shirt.
Things didn’t go to plan for Mainoo under Ruben Amorim, but he is now showing under Michael Carrick that he is one of the most exciting young talents in English football.
If United managed to land Monga this summer, they would have another one who, like Mainoo, has the potential to be a future Red Devils superstar.
